It loses Shiki's internal monologues, misses a lot of backstory and character interaction, and badly merged most of the routes into a huge mess.

The first half of the show does Arc's route somewhat decently, but after that it becomes a jumbled mess. If you have nothing against reading and you liked the show I would definitely recommend the VN.

also consider the manga, another good retelling of Arc's route, and See me in melty 0.02

i watched the first episode after reading arc's route and immediately dropped it. I could tell it was going to be horrible. Though shiki killing arc was pretty bad ass

Idunno, there are plenty of aspects of Zero that I really enjoy over Stay Night. The least of which being that all the masters don't go to the same freaking high school.

I tried to read it but couldn't get into it. Read Arc's route, hoped for something better in Ciel and couldn't finish it after. Maybe it gets better in Far Side or whatever it's called.

characters and plot where destroyed with stupid and horrible paced mix between routes that took everything characteristic about the characters and shoved down the toiled, shiki's character was downed to a regular clueless fag, so everything good about this show was tainted by the writers stupidity, because you could later see how a single mangaka actually got most of the best of every route in the Tsukihime manga, yes taking arcs route, the same thing this anime tried to do and failed miserably

I always recomend the Tsukihime manga to people who want to get into typemoon besides fate, it's basically the best adaptation out there, plus less mollusks references included

The anime basically changed the personalities of the characters in the visual novel. And that really changes a lot of the mood from the anime to the VN. The manga was actually closer to the source material, so much that the author himself said the manga was such a great work that it'll take a lot from him to surpass it.

He never said that about the anime, which he said was its own canon.

The Tsukihime animu certainly had that 90's feeling and atmosphere i really liked that, the music and some scenes catched that feeling, but it tried too hard to be hellsing though, another incomplete adaptation by then

Not trying to compare a manga to an entire franchise but, Hellsing anime got many people interested into it's source material enough to keep it alive, tsukihime anime didn't get any love, most people these days got into tsukihime by fate or catching the manga

In Japan at least it was considered a milestone of sorts, it was the first doujin product to get its own official televised anime. Obviously FSN and its 2006 anime kind of overshadowed it, but it was a pretty big deal at the time.
