He's a virgin in a couple accounts, is deeply connected to the Grail, has been described as very feminine in at least one account, and used the Shield of Joseph of Arimathea to defeat Knight of the Burning Dragon. If he isn't Shielder I will be incredibly surprised.

He's a genuinely nice guy who only acts like Gil at times because being a ruler was more or less forced upon him. He also wants to save humanity from chaos and from Arthur's evil Master rather than decimate it like Gil. He views destroying part of the city as a necessary evil to defeat Manaka, but doesn't relish the fact that innocent people will die as a result of his actions. While he's still a massive egomaniac and wonders if the world is even worthy of him saving it, but he's essentially a tragic hero in Fragments.

Designs like this make it obvious as fuck that the character's sole purpose is to job in one way or another. Had the design been consistent, and they were ALL bishonens, you'd have a harder time telling who would be the fan favourite that won't job to the protagonist as hard as the ugly middle aged man.

Alexander isn't consistent with how things were in Fate though. Back when Nasu was in high school and outlined Prototype they were all bishonens, except for Berserker. Urobuchi is responsible for Alexander being so different from the norm
