Why is F/HA so good?
Because it just is. All the love that went into it is just great. I'm just about to start playing the Ilya's castle mini-game, tips and tricks?
I think it's because Shirou works better as a character from a third person perspective instead of the first person perspective the VN was from.
He's more relateable and likeable when we're not having to sog through his unnecessarily long internal monologues and instead only see his words and actions most of the time. Makes him seem like less of an autistic dork and more like a fundamentally broken person (which is what he is, but the VN didn't do as good a job at portraying that).
And hey, the fight scenes are friggin' awesome, better than the descriptions in the VN. Good action makes most any series watchable.
>All the love that went into it is just great
Yes, it is.
I don't know about you, but having to read through Nasu's narrative (which isn't the best, mind you) and realizing the many flaws within the writing and characters doesn't make me want to finish it any sooner. I mean, I spent MONTHS trying to finish Fate because it was so fucking boring and obnoxious. UBW was slightly better only because it had better pacing, but still took me a while. HF's has taken some time because Sakura is by far the most boring heroine out of the three.
The problem with Nasu's narrative is that he tries to explains things in the most roundabout way possible to make it sound deep and complex when he could have saved a lot of trouble just going straight to the point and start exploring it from there. I'm going to have nausea if I have to YET go through pages and pages of how Shirou's guilt complex is described in 1000 different ways without ever calling it a guilt complex per se. The scene with Kirei and Saber in the church with the orphans was the best example of it.
Also for some reason Nasu thinks repeating the same word 5 times will add impact to the scene. It never worked for me.
A lot of Shirou's characterization suffers from Nasu's mediocre writing and an even more mediocre translation by Mirror Moon, especially when he's a guy who speaks with his actions, not his words.
In the show, we see his actions instead of whatever terrible logic nasu has thought up for him to take this course of action. This combined with Ufotable doing awesome action scenes makes a lot of moments way better.
I think my favorite scene so far was when Mitsuzuru asked him "Don't you ever have any fun, Shirou?"
>faggot who cannot handle eroge because underage and actually never tried to play the VN after chapter 1
>comparing top notch 2014 animation with still images in a VN made a decade ago
OP opinion is legit, right.
>especially when he's a guy who speaks with his actions, not his words.
Do you really think a fundamentally broken character can be seen with actions alone? Are you that retarded?
His actions are explained through his mindset given in the VN in first person, whereas his actions in the anime are not explained in the slightest making himself look like a retard.
>Shirou's projection magecraft and his use of magecraft in general
Impossible to show with actions at all, Shirou is bringing himself close to death by generating a new magic circuit each time he is using magecraft. In the anime it shows none of that, not to mention during his first projection vs Kuzuki with him screaming like a retard, it doesn't show anything but the pain he's going through. It doesn't show that his mind is breaking from the magic, just the pain he's feeling.
Bait harder Ufofag.
Here I was thinking you had to place first in each event to reach her castle, but that was really simple. Kind of fun, but myehhhh.
Can't you play it full-screen?
You can also play the Illya's Castle minigame by selecting it on the Special Menu. It has more stages and I think you can earn money to spend on Tohsaka's Shrine.
By the way, if you spend the night in Illya's Castle, you should choose explore the ruins at night. Trust me.
Oh wait nevermind, I just set it to emulate a virtual desktop. Noice.
Hollow Ataraxia is what now.
That's strange, it might be an incredibly roundabout way of doing it, but when I only have my laptop on me, I just play VN's on a Windows XP virtual machine on Virtualbox.
Just finished it, sorry Taiga, I'm concerned that since I did that, I won't be able to unlock the other prizes that come with beating her daytime quizzes as she has been defeated. Is that so?
I was actualy refering to this
Also, some clarifications about the different Fate/ worlds. I'll just copy/paste from BL, but what it basically says is that Zero is fanfiction.
Stuff supposedly from the afterward where Nasu talks.
In regards to the myth that this world follows about the conclusion of these two people, even if Stay Night and Fake are the same, the process is subtlety different.
If I dared to classify the differences between each of the works:
Zero has "the same conditions as Stay Night but the worlds are slightly different."
Apo is "partially the same but is now a completely different world."
El-Melloi case files is "exactly the same however the thick Sanda Maokoto atmosphere makes for somewhat different, rich, magecraft things."
Then, Strange Fake is "the same conditions, the same conclusion was met, however for some reason the worlds are completely different."
So yeahhh... Enkidu's relationship with Gilgamesh very important.
For some of the stuff I don't know if he's talking about Gil and Enkidu anymore or if he's talking generally.
I'm just not going to even.
It would be a 7/10 VN/Anime if it wasn't for fucking Shirou.
The VN was 5/10 at best. I was really bored through the entire thing. I could tolerate Shirou most of the time, as well.
But the UBW anime was easily the WAOTS because of Shirou. Being a beta faggot is one thing, but literally not sitting at the dinner table because a girl is sitting there is omega level.
Coincidentally, the best route is where Shirou is actually a good MC, Heaven's Feel.
>what it basically says is that Zero is fanfiction.
That's not what it says at all.
Everything in HA is things that could actually happen with these characters, and given the multiversal nature of Fate continuity, has happened. It's the same reason why every route and ending in FSN is canon, including Dead Ends.
I have to say, I really enjoyed both F/SN, F/HA, F/Z, CP, and a ton of other shit. Naturally I also like Tsukihime.
But holy shit is the dialogue just downright awful sometimes. All I can think about while playing Tsukihime is how much I want to rewrite it.
For example, line taken right out of Shiki's mouth:
>Damn, I guess I was thinking too optimistically.
Was the translator too retarded to write 'naive' or did Nasu actually write "thinking too optimistically" ? Either way, if someone could fix little shit like that it would improve the game by orders of magnitude.
Anyone else have interest in this? I think if I could get the full text of the game, next time I go on holiday I could edit a specific route to see how it sounds, see if people like it and whatnot, and decide where to go from there. It wouldn't take that long; I wouldn't really rewriting it, just editing it.
To be fair the events of Zero (what we've seen from the butcher) didn't happen like it should in the VN, and it was shown to be AU in Fate/Extra CCC.
>Everything in HA is things that could actually happen with these characters, and given the multiversal nature of Fate continuity, has happened.
It's different, in HA the world itself doesn't take itself seriously and it breaks into META talk sometimes, so I wouldn't count it as a accurate depiction of reality. Plus most of the SoL scenes were made by guest authors.
I do find it hilarious that Luvia Files is more canon than Zero.
At least post best Shiki before posting 5th best Shiki.
It's not non-canon. All the quote at >>119766720 says is that the universe in Zero and FSN is subtly different. They're both still canon. This is a fucking multiversal, multidimensional franchise with dimension-hopping characters.
>Zero has "the same conditions as Stay Night but the worlds are slightly different."
So it's like Kamen Rider Kuuga and Kamen Rider Agito, or like Muv-Luv EX and Muv-Luv Alternative Final EX?
>This Illusion by Lisa
But anon Nanaya is just some random killer.
Banana Shiki is legend
I'm trying to understand. Instead of having a drama series with the setting we're turning this into Carnival Phantasm where they can do whatever they want?
I always thought the TM-verse was better for the comedy side of things but this is ridiculous
From your earlier post I assumed that F/Z wasn't canon because Saber and Gil didn't fight at the end, what was up with that shit.
Shiki > Satsujinki > Shiki > SHIKI > 「 」> Shiki > SHIKI > Shiki
Len > Mana
Decade's AUs were full-on divorced from the original shows in much of the basic principles, though, moreso than Zero and F/SN seem to be.
Alright then, Alternative Final Extra and Altered Fable's "Before The Shining Moment Ends" Extra.
Clearly it is. It's just "subtly different", in ways that are apparently too minor to even point out.
Hell, individual routes of FSN are "subtly different" from each other. Things that are facts in one route are not necessarily facts in other routes.
>not having one true love
I bet you have more than one waifu, fagtron.
>I'm trying to understand. Instead of having a drama series with the setting we're turning this into Carnival Phantasm where they can do whatever they want?
It's a multiverse. Everything that happens in FSN is canon, including all the results of all your different decisions. Every time anyone makes a decision, it splits a new universe where that decision happened, and a universe where something else was decided, and all these universes are parts of Fate and canon. All routes of FSN are canon, even though they contradict each other. F/HA is canon. Zero is canon. Carnival Phantasm probably isn't canon since it's clearly a joke series from beginning to end, but fuck, it might be. Infinite multiverse.
>From your earlier post I assumed that F/Z wasn't canon because Saber and Gil didn't fight at the end, what was up with that shit.
Presumably that is the only actual difference.
If all possibilities are true, then what is the point in continuity? The framework of the story breaks down as you can just make some bullshit up and it'll be canon in SOME universe.
>imoutos winning in a TM story
the one time an imouto won, her brother died
Thanks for explaining
Is Type-Moon's intentions to continue on milking this cow until it bleeds?
Does this mean we could one day have a completely different Fate/Zero or Stay Night by someone else? You can just keep going because it just keeps going?
I'll take her for myself, no worries.
Its still pretty lewd if you ask me
>ruining one of the best Tsukihime endings because people want muh happy ending
>If all possibilities are true, then what is the point in continuity?
Exactly why I'm always so amused some fags want to act like "canon police". The Fate franchise, due to its multiversal nature, has one of the most permissive and all-including continuities around. Basically anything that is an official Type-Moon product happened in some universe or another. Only things you can safely count out are doujins and fanfiction that have no official connection to Type-Moon.
>Rape is pure though
I'm glad we can see things my way anon.
>Is Type-Moon's intentions to continue on milking this cow until it bleeds?
Absolutely. Haven't you been paying attention the past decade?
The only thing sexy in Rins one was Shirou
Don't you dare talk shit about best TM father-figure
>TM Complex X is now canon
>Only things you can safely count out are doujins and fanfiction that have no official connection to Type-Moon.
If the fundamental mechanics of the multiverse run off the many worlds interpretation of the world splitting at every single decision made, right down to each and every collapse of a quantum superposition, that means all possibilities exist, and therefore the doujinshi exist within the canon framework too, because no matter how outlandish sequences of events that can lead to them, they are at least infinitesimally possible and therefore they exist. Even those Tohsaka/Saber NTR doujinshi by Jin from MTSP.
Posting best TM and best imouto.
I had absolutely no attraction to anything remotely tsundere or yandere.
Then I played Akiha's route, and then Kohaku's route, which for some reason made me like Akiha more and Kohaku less.
Such is the mystery of Vakiha.

Yeah I am out, have fun with Fate shit fags.
I'd Tsuki her hime if you know what i mean
So, mahou shoujo napoleon when
Also are there any unedited epubs for volume 2 of Apocrypha yet? Eternal Dreamer is still editing but I'd really like to read it now.
Sure but Shirou would have exploded in ten years anyway even if he didn't take off the shroud and abuse projection. Whereas (from what I'm told) Sieg would happily tick along for decades unless he pulled out Balmung.
Shirou is kind of "empty" too and he's the same person as Archer, you'd think that would make the compatibility optimal (and IIRC Kirei said that transplanting a body part form a heroic spirit would always fail, and only worked because Shirou is also the red man)
my personal favorite
>Whereas (from what I'm told) Sieg would happily tick along for decades unless he pulled out Balmung.
According to Chiron more than a century.
Now this is just my headcanon but it probably has both something to do with it being Siegfried's spiritual core.
Also Siegfried ate Fafnir's heart if that has anything to do with it.
The "emptyness" has only to do with Deadcount Shapeshifter though.
>“If a body is possessed by a Heroic Spirit, a human’s soul wouldn’t be able to endure it. To say nothing of the soul of a homunculus like him.”
>“It’s precisely because he is a homunculus. Their souls are very young and therefore pure, and as such they won’t be dyed by anything, and their bodies can endure any kind of transformation as well.”
>In the first place, a homunculus was a ‘molded’ entity using Magic Circuits as the foundation. Since they had no accumulated experience like humans did, their souls were pure and sturdy like an infant’s. A human who had lived twenty years would have twenty years’ worth of accumulated experience, and that experience would sometimes produce magnificent strength under critical duress.
>But, when you possessed another person’s body, that accumulated experience became jammed and obstructed as if by white blood cells. Because that other person’s accumulated years of experience and your own accumulated years of experience weren’t compatible at all
>However, the homunculus was different. He had no accumulated experience. He was merely a being created in an already-matured state. Therefore, there was no rejection when he was being possessed.
This is is why Sieg is capable of surviving it
