She's been a bear for a while, since she talked of eating many girls. That doesn't really answer the question though.

I was literally think of that a moment ago. The lily garden seems symbolic of the pure yuri ideal. But now the flowers have been cut and the place is one to be avoided - there is even KEEP OUT tape all around. Maybe Ikuhara's saying that the pure yuri thing is only a cover to hide the desire underneath.

Or maybe, factoring in the invisible storm, it's only with the invisible storm's influence that pure yuri is bad. The garden was never portrayed negatively before the storm's introduction.

"Tsubaki visits the Library, the Music Room and the Science Lab in succession. This is a clear metaphor for the progression of human culture. First humanity began collecting knowledge, and then we turned to art before discovering our true calling, scientific research. Ikuhara is clearly of the belief that logical reasoning holds a higher place in society than art, a theme that’s demonstrated by the logical progression of his shows."

Does this interpretation hold any ground?

Because I noticed Squirrel-chan, before turning into bear form and going to Tsubaki, is shown in the classroom, then in the music room, then in the library, before going.

Is this a way to show that Squirrel-chan is losing her humanity or going "backwards"?

Not a reactionary strife against science, if I understood you properly, but just that it's showing her "going back" to the primitive carnal desires of humans by going back through time?

Otherwise I don't know why they show the library/music room/science room in that order. (It shows her in the classroom this time but class and science room could mean the same thing since they're both very "modern" things?)

>>119755406
Yeah when I first read that interpretation I was a bit doubtful but this can make sense too.

Even if he likes art more than other disciplines, I don't think it changes the meaning of the library/music room/science room progression. Regardless of Ikuhara's beliefs, humanity sort of progressed in that order right? Learning, then art, and now advanced learning and research thanks to the information age.

More a metaphor for her strife and chase after true pure love, which is nowhere to be found in those disciplines.
Ikuhara is disappointed in the conventional reception of science and art and therefore disregards all locations of knowledge and uses the roof as central, since it is atop of those.

Wow so deep. Good work /a/non.

I this if it's either this or the other interpretation, this one makes more sense. But since the science room and classroom can both represent the modern day advanced learning environment, for now I'll accept both interpretations. I'd be surprised if he just switched the order of the music room/library for no actual reason.
>>
>>119755471
Of course it is, you need to know lots of shit to make a proper piece of art. Just with this serie you have symbolism, reference and allegories.

Yes, Art talks to the souls, but souls are made of the knowledge gained with the experience of life.
>>
>>119755255
I don't think there is any irrefutable basis to say that library>music>science really reflects human progression. You could equally argue that we began with arts, for instance. What might be valid about that interpretation is that Squirrel's locations were in reverse to Kureha and that her intentions were thus also in reverse - but the inclusion of a classroom instead of a science lab could prove this wrong.

I'd personally say a library represents knowledge and enlightenment, and maybe Ikuhara's being ironic in having Squirrel lapse into bearmind right in the library, but there is no real loss of humanity evinced by the line 許さない in the first place. And it doesn't feel particularly ironic either. Either the locations isn't as symbolic as we think it is, or we simply don't have enough information to analyse them just yet.

While we're at it, I saw more significance in the door opening transition than in the locations themselves. We see identical sliding doors in the stamen-licking scene. If they aren't being used only as cut separators, like punctuation, perhaps they indicate different places, times, or frames of mind in the same scene.
>>
>>119755615

The interpretation is that he thinks logical reasoning (and science in general) holds the highest place in society. Not that it's his personal favorite discipline.

Just to be sure we're on the same page I'm emphasizing the library -> music room -> science room progression, which contrasts the classroom -> music room -> library progression. Whether or not Ikuhara likes art more than science doesn't matter because Ikuhara doesn't represent humanity's history.

Right. We don't know yet what the motivations for the Yuri court exactly are or what they represent. Heck, one is Cool, one is Beauty, and one judges solely based on if it's Sexy or not. I think it would be a stretch at this point to claim that they are representing society.

For that interpretation it still holds because it's the bears' decision and their regression to carnal desires that is important regardless of what the Yuri court says.

The bears are different yes but when you compare the bears to the civil humans (who aren't or don't turn into bears), it's like the bears are primitive humans succumbing to their sexual desires. So even if it's not destructive to the bears in the bears' mind, it is destructive in our sophisticated modern society's mind.

>>119755914
The way I see it, the Bear Court is a hyperbolic representation of the human need to rationalize behaviour. The "Bearfendents" represent the individual human. Cool and Beauty make a show of arguing to represent black-and-white polarity of human thought, then Sexy represents the impact of society by passing judgment, but even after that, he still asks the "Bearfendents" what they intend to do. To me, that means that even if it's something approved of by society, individuals still feel the need to assure themselves of it.

What Ikuhara thinks matters because if he truly believes that logic goes above art, then your theory would make sense. But judging by the representations that he uses on his artworks, I dare say not.
Ikuhara is a man who is run by emotions and your theory is just a random chance, in my opinion

Also, technically speaking. The bears ARE like civil humans. They are capable of being civilized and are open for reasoning. This is proven by Class pres and Squirrel who hid for a long time. There was never any report of bear attacks until the two came along

Pictures of/files about the girls eaten by bears, most likely

>Especially the last one which remained open
Maybe the prez just took out Sumika's picture to taunt her, of maybe it symbolizes the girl getting eaten at the end

Presumably each cabinet represents a person, as Sumika was put in one. The fact that a cabinet was open suggests that the president had opened a cabinet to eat a girl.

The colours, though, are interesting. You might argue that they represent conformity (i.e. you conform if your colour matches the larger design), but Sumika's colour 'conformed' and yet we know for sure she was not Invisible, as class rep confirmed it at the end of ep 2. Maybe the idea of conformity is represented by the colours as themselves, not in relation to the larger design, then - pink for standing out, black for invisible.

>But the class rep was feeding on an invisible girl right at the end!
We don't actually know that for sure. Her dialogue is ambiguous.

>>
>>119757412
Also in this scene she says that bears are cautious creatures and the second won't attack you today- referring to herself.
>>
My speculation is that the real class president was the one in Episode 1 and was also in half of Episode 2. She appeared to be actually shocked to see bears eating a human. (Her pretending to be shocked would be pointless since there was no one there to see her.). In episode 2, she decided to confront the Lulu and Ginko in order to protect Kureha. She then chased after them. The moment she did, Kureha recieved the phonecall from Life Sexy (which she also got in episode 1) She got the call when Sumika was about to get eaten/got eaten. I think that this meant that Yurizono was going to get eaten. and I think that she was in fact eaten. I think that the Yurizono shown shooting the Squirrel bear is a impostor taking on Yurizono's appearance in order to get closer to Kureha. The fake Yurizono was then shown eating a human at the end who I believe is the real Yurizono.
>>
>>119757425
Yes. Or if she did, she didn't know the transfer students were bears.

>>119756378
>She's definitely the most interesting character so far. I feel like she'll get killed halfway through though.

Class Rep will be lucky to survive next episode. She's been revealed and she's going to go for Kureha. After that, the rest of the class and the teacher will target Kureha and get shot down by her from the roof after the Severence Court sequence, until the repeating ritual starts changing.

>>119757590
I fucking love the subtle nuances in the character designs for Lulu's and Ginko's bear forms. Lulu's ribbon is tied at the front suggesting she is more open and her nature a priori. Ginko's is tied at the back because she is stoic and her nature a posteriori. Lulu has a maid's headdress and neckerchief because she is submissive and patronizing, Ginko has a crown and star because she's domineering and selfish.

It was just my speculation in the first place. I also think that there is a possibility that she was shocked to see that the 2 transfer students were bears. Or that she visited Kureha to target the 2 bears because she was afraid that the two bears would eat Kureha and she wanted to eat Kureha for herself, hence her "protecting" her. At this point, there are lots of ways to interpret the events of the show and lots of different speculations can be made.
