Not reading VNs with adaptations makes sense, though. I at least tend to prioritize VNs that haven't been adapted, unless I really liked the adaptation. An anyways, it is often said that adaptations are supposed to be extended ads for the original work more than anything else. In other words, they are made for secondaries, to lure them in, and complaining about secondaries watching them or showing interest in them is beyond retarded. Watching the anime then reading the original is a desired outcome, reading the original as a "research" before watching the anime is just silly.

There was likely a King Arthur during that time period, but the myths are nowhere near consistent. You can't fault a writer for having creative liberty with a fictional person. Hell, this shit is even directly brought up in FZ when Waver points out that Rider looks nothing like the books say of Alexander the Great.

Books are like a massive game of telephone. When you have stories from thousands of years ago, it needs other sources to corroborate it. Otherwise you can pretty much assume that it has been altered enough times to be fictional.
