It seems like it sets up the potential for inner clan strife before the 10 MC selection with Tatsuya used as an excuse. Honestly, it was kind of waiting to happen the minute Mitsugu started making side comments about Maya and then his pretentious meeting with Miyuki in Volume 13 just made it seem like not everyone was thrilled by how stuff is going in the clan. At least with the other clans the other families from the same lab have a chance to make the 10 MC on their own since you can have duplicate numbers so it's on them to get more recognition rather than have to undermine the other current lab family.

I haven't seen this posted on here yet, but when Mayumi goes to see Tatsuya at first high, both Miyuki and Izumi get annoyed about it. Izumi calls Miyuki onee-same as opposed to ane, showing much more respect for Miyuki. Tatsuya also turns Mayumi down a few times before agreeing to help her saying he does not have the means and resources to investigate. Mayumi says she suspects her father and can't rely on her clan, this is more of a personal thing for her own self. Tatsuya agrees to help after thinking to himself it coordinates well with the Thesis Competition so both agree to meet again in Kyoto and resume citing the competing as a pretext. When Tatsuya comes back from talking with her, Miyuki is visibly pissed and asks what she wanted. Tatsuya asks Izumi if she cares that he spoke to her sister. Izumi says she doesn't care what her sister does.

It's who strikes first, and if Tatsuya had Third Eye and his magic sniper rifle, the Yotsuba estate and anything in the immediate vicinity would cease to exist in a matter of a minute or two.

Of course that would not destroy all of the Yotsuba clan, but it would kill Maya and a lot of her goons.

He's a strategic class magician and a living death machine that cannot die by normal means. Saying that he can't solo Yotsuba is not a lie, but it will certainly be a feat that will be extremely hard to do, even for Onii-sama.

Without the Yotsubas claim on Tatsuya he would likely be taken advantage of by the military to a much higher degree, Tatsuya current position is likely best for him. When he doesn't want to help the 101st he can use his guardian duty to Miyuki to avoid orders and when he doesn't want to help the Yotsuba he uses the Yotsuba/101st contract as a way to avoid it.

As Tatsuya currently stands neither the Yotsuba or Japanese government can entirely control him, which they obviously would if they could. As Tatsuya stated in volume 4, even if he removed Maya a even worse manipulator would probably take over, at least she somewhat seems to care for her Nephew compared to Mitsugu and the Military personnel they probably view him as nothing but a weapon.

Stars has already tried to kill him once, they would likely do so again. The GAA obviously hold a grudge against Masherva for what he did to their fleet in both Okina/Yokohoma and other countries would likely view him as an unacceptable threat also.

Tatsuya and George are in entirely different situations.

Trident is obviously a little bit more than just a CAD for looping decomposition when it's kept under lock and key. This isn't 9 SC level of peanuts device.
