My nigga. I always bump anime/jap OSTs when I'm riding by myself in my car and it's pretty often. I really wish I can just bump it with friends but you literally will get shunned for it unless you have weeb friends as well.

I usually listen to radio when I'm out, so mostly I hear Top 40. I've used anime, J-pop and K-pop when DJing but its not always received well. There are two ways I've found to ease people into it. Either play an AMV with regular music then transition into remixed J-pop or alternatively start with an EDM remix of a song with sparse vocals and slowly shift into other remixed J-pop. Either way, if I'm not getting the right reaction, I'll bail and go to Gagnam Style before back to Top 40 or EDM.

I stopped caring about people's attention about my music long ago. No matter what I would listen fo in the past, depending on what would be my favourite at the time, like rock, metal, jazz, arranges, whatever, there wouls be someone complaining anyway. That's why an opinion of some Lady Gaga fag doesn't phase me at all. I don't listen to music out loud in public or try to rub it into anyone's face, but I will listen to the most cringy jpop songs I may find and won't let anyone tell me I shouldn't.

I listen to a lot of J pop/rock, but not in public. In my car and shit? Not if I'm driving with someone who I don't know very well. If they look through my music and see it or if I have a couple songs on a playlist that's fine, but I think people who force others to listen to that stuff are the worst. It's pretty much asking to be labeled a weeabo. I mean, it's one thing to have your preferences, and it's another to force them on people. I had a friend who would be constantly listening to J pop and signing it. He thought he had the nicest fucking voice, but he sounded so fucking stupid. I have a 300+ playlist of OPs and EDs and the entirety of the μ's discography (including mini idol units) on my old iPod nano. Don't have to worry about unplugging and playing music out loud so I generally spend my days listening to anime music in public. When people want to hear what I'm listening to by taking the ear plugs I generally quickly unplug it in my pocket A move I have rehearsed over a 100 times and is guaranteed effective. When I take my iPod out of my pocket I quickly switch to a "normal" playlist with Kanye West songs, ITAOTS, and Burial. This ensures that the amount of ostracization I am subject to is kept to a minimum, and I'm not looked down upon THAT much when people find out my musical "tastes".

It's only worse if they find out and know you were trying to hide it. Just like what you like and don't stick it in peoples faces. If someone asks you about what music you listen to you just say stuff that you'd think they'd listen to as well. If they find out later you listen to Japanese music, just say "I didn't think you'd be interested in that stuff". When I was in highschool, I play a lot of yugioh, and most people seemed to think it was the fucking nerdiest shit ever. When people asked me my hobbies I'd usually say "I play yugioh on some weekends" and they'd be shocked. It just adds character, and if you want people to think you're interesting don't hide your character. Just, don't go ramming it in peoples faces either. If somebody doesn't like you solely because of the music you listen to, they aren't worth your time.
