There isn't much Ichihime or Renruki from Japan. There is only a couple images of them on pixiv for reference.

It's nearly all Ichiruki and ulqhime.

I would say Renruki is pretty crack though. The pairing romantically makes no sense, as Renji was put in the friend zone for 60 years, and even tried to kill Rukia multiple times at one point.

Okay, let's get some legitimate discussion going. I know Ichiruki developed into something more substantial than conventional partnership during/after Soul Society arc, but for my money the comedic SoL antics were what made it click from the very beginning.

It's a shame we'll never see Ichigo rolling his eyes as Rukia fakes tears in front of a scary teacher again, or him commenting on her drawing skills, or them bullying Kon together. Also Rukia climbing onto Ichigo's back and ordering him to dive bomb a Hollow or having culture shock. They had some fun times together. Whereas Ichigo's interaction with Orihime or Tatsuki are usually limited to brief friendly banter and muh mamoru.

Ichigo and Rukia share destiny. Personally if Kubo was a good writer. And hear me out here, I've been shipping Ichiruki for 10 years since I was 12.

If he were a good writer, he would have Rukia die in Ichigo's arms, and give her heart to him, like Kaien did to her.

Then it would give Ichigo the resolve to protect everybody and sacrifice himself to become Soul King, locked away forever, keeping the balances of the worlds together.

Rukia is still with him though, in the heart. He is not alone....

Another ending would be more simple, but predictable. The last chapter is Ichigo and Rukia together, although not romantically, but implied later that it will become romantic, killing hollows together.

Another ending which would be the moderate choice, Aizen ascends the throne as the soul king, Everybody lives happily ever after ,Ichiruki announced canon in the epilogue.

I love the ship, but fuck, its fanbase are the most obnoxious fuckers I've seen. Nothing I can think of comes close.

What annoys me about the romantic subplots is the astronomically slow pace Kubo is resolving them at. Orihime is still in love with Ichigo, Ishida may still like her, nothing has developed between Rukia and Ichigo, Renji is friendzoned, Hitsugaya is NTR'd by the 5th division captain and that's what it's been like since Soul Society.

The only thing that's been resolved since that arc is Gin and Rangiku, and then Unohana and Zaraki's development happened too fast the resolution was just to kill them off.

Pic related is something to think about, but it has already been mentioned before. Something else I thought of after we found out that Hollow Ichigo was the source of his Shinigami power after all, and thus the true Zangetsu, was that, well, if Hollow Ichigo gave two power-ups, one controlled and another, then what, since he is after all the true Shinigami power (just taken over and Hollowfied by White), if the mask was Ichigo's real Shikai, and the Horned Hollow form is his Bankai?
After all, the function of White was to infect Shinigami, and since he passed on to Ichigo and became his Shinigami powers, he must have done so. However, the powers Ichigo gained from him were, again, in the form of a mask and a full hollow form.
And then I thought of how Zanpakuto spirits (mostly in the anime, but they were Kubo's own design) wield their Shikai. Not their Bankai, not sealed Asauchi swords, but their own Shikai, and then I thought back at how White/Zangetsu looked when Ichigo first imprinted an Asauchi with his Shinigami powers. You can see in pic related again: It's Hollow Ichigo with the mask on.

If it were anybody but Kubo I'd say yes, but with his pacing I'd ballpark it more at 2-3 years. That's enough time for everybody to get a few chapters worth of fight in, a keikaku or two, the inevitable plot twist where Yhwach isn't actually the final boss, and some wrap-up shenanigans.

Pretty much. Sakura was a perfectly fine character on paper, but Kishi obviously didn't know what to do with her and she ended up being completely flat.

On the other hand the whole reason Kishi didn't give us much Hinata was because he knows he's bad at writing romance and feels awkward doing it. If he did replace Sakura with Hinata, it could have been painful.
