>waiting for that one fag to finish his unboxing.
Then I will forever wait in anticipation.
I kinda suck at photography, I think.
>introspection might still work at least
Either that, or photographing boxes is difficult.
My bet is on incompetence.
I can post the boxes now, after this short recap.
>seems kinda random otherwise
Well, I didn't unpack the figures yet.. doing this with my package all at once seems like overkill.
>shrink wrapped, no window
This one is twice as heavy as usual.
More than 1kg.
Wow. I didn't fuck this up entirely.
Sorry for the inappropriate background.
Sometimes it just works. Oftentimes it does not.
Already have around 20 figures sitting in shipping boxes and on the verge of placing another ~10 figure order. I don't plan on legitimately unboxing it until my living situations squared away, however I do my due diligence and open the shipping packages to check for any blatant broken/missing figure parts before carefully putting everything back including shipping paper etc. I wouldn't open the shipping packages at all, but given that they could sit for months on end, I'd rather get any replacements/returns etc squared away within the allotted time frame. Either way it should be pretty fun when I document and open a mountain of shipping boxes in the future.
Unpack as in remove bubble wrap or unpack as in actually opening the figure boxes and pull them out. I agree it's overkill if you're saying pulling them out of the boxes.
I did it now, did I not?
I am interesting in learning as well as not disturbing this prime thread.
I was acting too hastily at the end of the old one, partly because I just wanted to throw it in at the end.
And not even expensive.
Where can I buy this cutie? That damn Nippon-Yasan wants 12k yen.
Don't be that guy.
When I opened ~25 figs from my backlog of opening things, I just posted a pic of the new display case I put them in. No need for a massive unboxing dump.
Jesus fucking christ, the size of this box
One more just so you can compare the size, I apologize for going over the limit on the pictures.
I see your box was utterly annihilated.
I think a montage, then unpacked box group shots, then whatever you want of the unboxed figure; seems fair.
Posting each individual box is kinda silly beyond 2-3 boxes.
lol, well, sure.
A movie would be better, at least if it is properly edited.
>muh 24h long video of mostly nothing, paper ruffling, plastic cutting
If you unbox so many figures you could film a documentary about the matter..
Very tame haul.
Got through australian customs without them checking anything at all, I guess the most risk you have of being caught loli-handed is from a random parcel check.
Look at that black poop on her hair
I'm waiting on GJ for all my C87 orders.
>I guess the most risk you have of being caught loli-handed is from a random parcel check.
This. People don't understand that the sheer volume of imports means that the chances of anything of yours being checked without any real cause are insanely low.
Customs open most of my packages.
They charge too little customs fees, though, so it's awright.
I have to pay customs everytime, unless it's below the value threshold.
they actually open most of my packages, but just not stuff that is labeled as books. probably because the vat on books is lower and the threshold where i have to pay vat is higher then, well and there are 0% customs on books besides the vat.
Anyone have have this fig? http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10189085
I just received mine and the skirt is removable (only removing it to get rid of plastic that mandarake put there) and I can't find out how without breaking it.
Mandarake-tan on the right searching for your orders.
They actually go around with a clipboard looking for the figures, so when you get "item sold out", don't forget the work they put in for you gaijins.
When I went there after C87 day 3, all staff were in cosplay, but I was in a rush and didn't take pics.
There was a cute girl working on the figures floor but I don't remember who she was dressed as. Guy in pic was
Harry Potter. The register person was a touhou trap.
I'm a huge retard and didn't take a picture of the outside, but the Akiba Mandarake Complex is 8 floors, here's the view from the top.
Only the top floor is figs, others are stuff like doujins, games etc.
It was a pretty heavenly place.
Dunno, but I lost all respect for the Potter dude because not anime, so maybe him.
Was in there the same day after C87 day three.
>on the way to pick up limited edition Figure at 5 in the morning
>Hit by drunk drive and paralyzed.
Buyfag life sure is hard.
If only there were actually a handful of available jobs there. Would move in a heartbeat
That might make sense. The skirt seems too slim to pull off by itself so probably the entire legs part. Can't entirely see where where plastic goes but I'm so scared of breaking stuff. I'll try though.
I was by myself and I'm asian so I probably blended in, I kind of recall a bunch of fellow foreigners there.
I remember a group of asians speaking english and one or two europeans.
I sent most of my time on the doujin floor , one guy was dressed as in the uniform from Nintama Rantaro whilst another was dressed as Shinjis dad, complete with glasses
The girl behind the counter was displaying as something, but I didn't figure out the who it was as I was busy emptying my wallet to fund my purchases
I find the Nakano Mandrake to have more stuff I'd want when I go there every few months. Only downside is it's spread all over the shopping complex so it's a matter of finding what part the stuff you want is in.
Kotobukiya selling lots of figure prisons.
I see. I'm a figures guy so didn't even touch the doujins floor.
I think I used 4k for 16 days.
Something like 2.5k for plane tickets + food + hotel and the rest is spending.
Places I stayed at were about $50/night and I had a budget of $30 per day on food which is plenty if you go to those semi-fast food places with cheap gyudon and stuff.
My luggage was overflowing by the time I got out.
Interesting, were you part of it? Or are you from comiket meetup?
Meh, shit needs to be made of real glass
>open display case
>that waft of pvc smell that comes out
This one rotated and cost an insane amount.
Not a fan of cases, glare and reflections detract from aesthetics too much for me.
I forgot to add travel expenses to my calculation which will add a couple hundred for a JR pass when you want to see the country. Miscellaneous travelling across a couple of stations/bus stops is really cheap though, like 100 or 200 yen.
I didn't meet up with you guys but I was in the Line group.
I reversed image search that and found that there is one with the purple outfit, but I can't seem to find a shop with it
I'm just a bit worried for bulkier figures like this one, right now I'm going for a somewhat cheaper DSLR just to start.
>actually giving box attention whores what they want
Don't fall for it, etc etc.
Well, why did you pick that particular lens with that featureset in the first place?
I have yet to get one myself, but people seem to prefer fixed focal length 50mm lenses for figure photography. Those have a lower f-stop than zoom lenses which allows for a shallower DoF and thus more bokeh. 50mm is also considered equivalent to the normal human perspective.
Anyway, you probably should learn shooting with the kit lens before making additional purchases. Lenses are an endless money sink so you should have some basic experience before buying more.
Why do some items disappear from amiami?
I wanted to buy this old kyoko but the page just shows up as a error now
I hate you Canada Post. I used EMS and you still somehow manage to send it back to sender despite the address being correct. Useless ass motherfuckers.
DHLis a huge problem with understanding.. well.. plainly printed address label, basically.
I never really managed to detect what the problem was.
Once they put a sticker over my address, though.
I always managed to retrieve the packages, though, but it takes multiple hours of effort on my part.
Wow. This was a problem caused by Amiami. Got my postal code wrong. What the fuck Amiami. You useless fucks.
Nah, I wont even go into this debate. I like her, so why not
Can anyone tell me if these are pictures, or actually doujin? Someone posted them yesterday, but didnt respond.
It's EMS. But usually despite when I order, it goes Tokyo INT same day as posting/collection.
I was thinking it might not until the 5th, due to that whole break thing in Japan.
I picked it just because it fits my idea of what I need for my D200, having the 70-300 range allows me to take other pictures as well. And for the price of the lens it seems worthwhile.
I sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I'm fucking retarded but I don't care, I'm beautiful. I'm having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me "Apache" and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you can't accept me you're a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege. Thank you for being so understanding.
That particular lens is horrible for macro, or generally close-ups. You're better off with the default 18-55mm kit lens that comes with the camera than that.
Talking from experience since I own that particular lens, it's better for outdoors to begin with.
You can though buy a bunch of extension tubes to get the focus down to 30cm or less, since it usually needs past one meter to get a proper focus on objects.
Is anyone here a bad enough dude to buy it?
Either stick with the kit lens, or buy the standard nikon 50mm f/1.8. If you're using an APS-C sensor, you want to buy the nikon APS-C 35mm f/1.8 equivalent.
Or if you have money, buy a Zeiss Otus.
Thanks, I'll have my assistant acquire a bunch of those.
Say, are these also available with gold-plating?
I'm guessing you mean http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-35mm-1-8G-Digital-Cameras/dp/B001S2PPT0/ref=sr_1_3?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1420219053&sr=1-3&keywords=nikon+macro+lens
Never refunded a thing before on Amazon, thanks for the info
Thank God for that 4% discount. I'd never be able to afford it without that.
Cons in an Amazon review:
>-Canon's latest firmware ver 1.1.4 does not have the lens aberration correction data for this lens. As a result you do not get the "in house" peripheral illumin option. So there is some normal amount of vignetting (between f1.4 to 2.8) and a slight amount of distortion that is very nicely corrected by the latest Camera RAW (version 8.4) and Photoshop, which have the updates.
>-You might have to get canon Egs focusing screens to help you focus wide open.
>-Lens hood hard to lodge in the reverse position.
Dat terminology. These people could be completely making shit up and I wouldn't know even know.
Yah, thats the one.
Gold plating would actually affect the performance due to the high heat absorption. Thats the reason why canon L glass is that odd shade of beige, it helps insulate the elements from heat.
>sharing what you bought with people you'll never meet
>never sharing what you bought with people locally
We are all dolls posting in this thread about the new friends we ordered. Picture of the buyfag motorcycle gang, we are some rude dudes.
What do you guys think of pic related? (It is a garage kit as far as I know)
This is a call for SCIENCE
But what does the most important part look like.
Has anybody else's copy shipped yet? Been like this for since Monday now.
>boatfaggotry brings you down to negative points.
