SSD makes a lot more sense for storage. Unlike HDDs, SSDs aren't ticking time bombs waiting for your data to disappear. The only wear for SSDs comes from writing data, which isn't really as much a worry for storage as it is for scratch disks and the time to reach the limit on a modern SSD takes a really long time.

HDDs are completely shit and their only saving grace is that you can get a lot for little money.
