There are two boats, 300 people on one, 200 on the other.

Both boats are sinking and the one holding 200 people are forcing you to fix their boat before the other, what should you do?

Well the answer is easy!
Just kill all 200 to get back to saving the 300!
So long fuckers!

Kill 200 to save 300.

>>
>>119095691
That's unfair though, Kerry didn't know the grail was evil until the grail told him. Shirou wanted to use the grail until he found it was evil too.

>>

Shirou was never interested in the grail. The whole reason he entered the war was so no one could use it after Kotomine told him it was what cause the fire.

>>

Yup he and her killed every single one of them somehow. But what I don't understand is why that faggot Shirou is in the series yet Tohsoka Sakura isn't. By logic there should be no fire, Shirou should be with his real family and without a grail to fight over Tokiomi wouldn't be giving away Sakura to doctor worm rape thus she'd be allowed to say with her sister and have sexy black hair. Such shoddy writing.
>>
>>119096363
If he read the problem C would only know there were four of them, he wouldn't know whether the fourth was behind him or on the other side of the wall.
>>
>>119095998
it's a common induction puzzle and that's the answer for it.
>>
>>119095639
UBW Shirou is basically a perfected version of Kerry.
>>
Why is utilitarianism such a shit-tier philosophy?
>>
>>119096547
Obviously that particular version of the problem is poorly done, the problem should include an indication that they know the relative location of the other people.
>>
>>119095476
Well if the boat with 200 people on it are forcing you, that means you are already on it, correct?
To get to the boat with 300 people on it, it will take time. What if both boats sink by the time you get to the boat with more people?
>>
>>119096402
It feels like an editorial mandate. Shirou doesn't really add much to the series by being adopted into the same family again, and he goes ignored for the most part, but he's there just the same. As for Sakura's status, she may be studying overseas just like Rin for all I know. Or maybe she's with the Matou anyway – I'm not sure if she'd been given up for adoption by the point the timelines diverge.

Consider the problem of the two famous Carpathian army generals, Prince Vlad and Prince Nicolae, who must simultaneously attack the Ruthenian army on two different flanks to have any chance of success. If either attacks alone, then the Ruthenian forces will defeat them easily, so it is highly important for the princes to coordinate their strike. But on the day of the attack, the two princes have positioned their armies on different hills, miles apart. They can only communicate by sending messengers, who take half an hour to cross the difficult and perilous terrain between the hills, which the princes suspect has been penetrated by Ruthenian advance scouts.

In the morning, Vlad, the senior of the two, sends a messenger to Nicolae with the instruction to attack at noon, and a request to send an acknowledgement. Since he cannot be sure that the messenger will get there, his message makes clear that the attack will only go ahead if the acknowledgement is received. Luckily, his messenger completes the journey and delivers the message to Nicolae. Nicolae sends him back with a message of acknowledgement, but also a request to acknowledge his acknowledgement, since he cannot be sure that Vlad knows he received the original message unless his acknowledgement is also acknowledged...

How many messengers sending acknowledgements are required for both generals to be logically 100% sure that both sides will in fact attack at noon?
>>
>>119095476

>>119096980
I'd rather see only one person die in front of me than seeing 5 dying in front of me while regretting that I could have done something.

Also, there is no complete correct answer to this. This is a commonly known dilemma everybody gotta answer for himself. You might as well be a "murderer" because you didn't do anything. "Not my fault" doesn't apply here because you know you could have saved them.

There weren't that many of them anyway, right? Not true Einzberns anyway, just a bunch of homunculi. Because they specialized in alchemy, they were always considered to be among the weaker magi in terms of individual combat ability.

Why don't the just look up to see the brim of the hat?
>>
>>119095998
He'll hear the guy breathing of course.
>>
>>119095841
C would call it out. He knows that B is white and and hes black because if he was white, D would call out and says hes black.
>>
>>119097086
c will go by this logic

he sees b wearing a white hat.

if the person behind him sees that he (c) is also wearing a white hat, the person behind hi, would have shouted black already. Since d will see two white hats already.

so c will conclude that d is not responding so that means that he (c) is wearing a black hat.
>>
>>119097009
Nicolae's request is stupid, he should start the attack half an hour after sending his acknowlegdment
>>
>>119096776

What happens if the boat carrying 200 people comprised of doctors, nurses and various other medical professionals, while the boat carrying 300 people composed of criminals who are rapists, murderers and child molesters? Surely you don't believe quantity is the sole determinate factor of who gets to live. This is why Kerry's beliefs are terrible. He believes saving the most lives matter more than the quality of the lives he's judging.

if two black or two white, d would have already figured out the color of his hat and shouted the correct answer. since he hasn't answered then b and c have different colored hats.

because c see's b having a white colored hat he will correctly conclude that he is wearing a black hat since d has not given an answer.

Which begs the question of exactly where Sella and Leysritt came from.

In the original timeline they were created by Illya and were only two years old.

Obviously that would be impossible in Prisma Illya.

If they were created by Acht in Prisma Illya and were part of the regular Einzbern maid force how the hell did they escape Kiritsugu's slaughter? You'd figure Kiritsugu would have to fight through the homunculi before he got to the real Einzberns (... was Acht the only remaining non-homunculus?) Were they Iri's maids in this continuity and sided with her in the ensuing conflict against the rest of the Einzberns?

This. If Kerry was tasked with the decision of sparing Africa or Europe, he would probably select Africa based solely on population. However, everyone knows Europe contributes far more to the world in terms of technological development, scientific research, charities and medical breakthroughs.

Meanwhile, Africa commonly suffers from overpopulation, severe wars, harsh famines and extreme poverty, issues rarely seen in Europe. You would have to be blind to spare Africa over Europe, but Kerry’s irrational morality forces him to choose the unworthy continent over the more valuable one.

If Kerry desires to play God, he should know that not all lives are equal in value and some are more worthy of saving than others.

The worst thing that TM have ever done is confirm that Shiki survives Akiha's true ending. I'm quoting from the wiki here, but if you don't believe me then read it yourself.

'In "A Story for the Evening", a 'sequel' scenario to Akiha's True Ending from Kagetsu Tohya, at the end of the scenario Akiha receives a letter from Ciel that reveals that Shiki did infact survive.'

The ending was ambiguous and romantic and beautiful and Nasu took that beauty and raped it.
I don't even fucking understand how he could have survived, and it doesn't even tell you the details.

I think most people wouldn't consciously think about "ideals" when making choices the way fictional characters do, or spend time thinking about ideals in and of themselves. But most people still have principles of some sort.

I mean using them as fighters. Same reason the other Masters generally don't bring an army with them.

Then why not just make 7 homunculi to all fight in the grail war?

It just gives everyone else a reason to target them specifically.

I don't understand something, if Archer was giving that whole speech of not living by an ideal of justice which goes against what Kerry viewed,
why did he let Caster live with her absorbing the mana of so many people.
It seems hypocritical

Am I misunderstanding this or is Acht actually this retarded? Who was going to regain the Third Magic after Illya dies?

If God exists, why does anyone need the Root?

Exodus 20:5
>Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me

Glorifying anything that's not God is a sin.

>why did he let Caster live with her absorbing the mana of so many people.
She wasn't killing anyone by doing so.
>>
>>119099053
>If God exists, why does anyone need the Root?

Because God literally does not give a shit about anybody else other than itself because it is complete by itself.

>Am I misunderstanding this or is Acht actually this retarded? Who was going to regain the Third Magic after Illya dies?

Sella. That's what the maids were there for.

According to CM3, Ilya was expected to stop functioning as a person after the 4th or 5th Servant croaked and the maids would handle shit from there on out.

>>119099053
Because IF the God of Abraham exists in the Nasuverse, and we don't know that for sure (though it is likely), then he is not the god that created the world, and thus is a pretender and a usurper.

The ACTUAL creator god in the Nasuverse doesn't give a shit about his creation, because he is perfect and thus has no desires. He's like Azathoth, just less destructive.

I throw myself in front of the train while yelling "SEIBAH!"

My body is torn to shreds and my insides spill across the track.

My slippery entrails cause the trolley to derail and careen off to the side, saving all six people.

I wake up perfectly fine the next day to Saber's incessant callings of "SHIROU!"

Tohsaka comments how nobody should've been able to survive that.

Wait, was the plan for Liz to become the dress of heaven and Sella to wear it?

Because Illya becoming the grail would sort of prevent her from doing it. It was only because of a set of highly unlikely coincidences involving another fucking grail in HF that she was able to do so.

The Einzebern have hundreds of Homunculus that look about the same and wear the same costume. The ones Ilya left to the grail war with aren't anything special, aside from having battle capability to stand up to weak servants.

When Iriesviel went to the grail war, she took about ten sameish looking Homuncules as helpers.

The lesser models don't show as much personality generally, but it's still there. All the Einzebern does all day is sit around making fake people to do everything for him all day.

>"I haven't read Kagetsu and none of you have either because you're just as secondary as me, but this is something I just read and am offended. How could this happen in this story that I didn't even read properly, and it was shown that Shiki was still alive in that ending when Akiha picked up the knife rather than it being a retcon at all, not that I'll ever acknowledge this because I wanted to see it in a different way when i read it and that different way has to be 100% right".

>The ones Ilya left to the grail war with aren't anything special
That's extremely untrue.

Liz was a substandard potential Grail vessel who got repurposed into the Dress of Heaven. She's also a halfway decent combatant.

Sella's a normal Einzbern homunculus, though. Albeit an extremely efficient one.
>>
>>119097720
I wanted to, but then I realized that individual standout heroes probably aren't the way to go about it.

Don't get me wrong, they're great but in the long run what would really make a difference is everyone acting in tandem to make the world a better place.

Didn't she kill a few buildingfuls of people before figuring out the optimal drain rate? And the latest episode said she was draining souls rather than mana from nonmages.

>And the latest episode said she was draining souls rather than mana from nonmages.
Nonmages don't HAVE magical energy beyond their lifeforce, Od. And if memory serves, that's kinda sorta the same thing as your soul.

And I don't think she killed them, just drained them into a coma.
