It won't be Yuri they said. Iku will disappoint they said.
Biweekly Yuri Kuma hype thread.
>Director: Kunihiko Ikuhara (Mawaru Penguindrum, Revolutionary Girl Utena)
>Series composition: Kunihiko Ikuhara & Takayo Ikami (Mawaru Penguindrum)
>Music: Yukari Hashimoto (Mawaru Penguindrum, Toradora!)
>Original character design: Akiko Morishima
>Studio: Silver Link (Prisma Illya, Non Non Biyori)
In other news Penguindrum illustration coming with the BD box.
When does Ikuhara ever do something that is disappointing?
This is gonna be a joy to watch.
Because otaku only watch it for the fanservice but don't bother to buy it. And actual lesbians are put off the fanservice. The only form of yuri that sells is in manga/novel form.
Yurifags are not as dedicated as fujoshit when it comes to supporting their fetish. Is true that a lot of fujoshits also like yuri but they would rather buy the seasonal fujobait show instead. That magical boy shit coming out next season is gonna outsell this.
By having all that fanservice shit in the promos so it can scare off the audience that just wants cute yuri? Sure
Go look at the follower count in twitter. That is low for a director that Japan actually likes, even Watanabe's 9/11 anime had more followers before it started airing and they fucking hate him over there.
Amazing. Based Iku-chan.
The only real tragedy here is the waste in those designs of the judges in a yuri show, they should have made them female instead
Yes that's right, also men can't design female characters and women can't design male characters too. Because you know, it's impossible to design a character that isn't the same as yourself.
>yurishitters ruin yet another show
Nips never fail to disappoint, do they?
I think they are gonna be as important in the anime as Sanetoshi and Momoka were, which means they will stay mostly in the shadows
Morishima's manga seems to make them more prevalent since not only are they students at the school but red bear is in love with Ginko in her version
Aren't they judges of some kind? If the only male characters in the show are there to pass judgement on the female characters, it already seems thematically relevant, regardless of how much focus as characters they actually get.
Red and green.
Blue looks like shit though
Remind me again why I should care about fetish tier, dick fuel, pandering "yuri"?
>inb4 pandering is a buzzword
No. that's clearly the case here. Just shoving mass amounts of shallow, low quality yuri into it for the sake of yuri being there.
If two girls who are also bears lick another girl's stamen isn't that the definition of yuri?
What other flower part do >>118882728 they need to lick for it to be gay?
It's not a matter if sucking dicks, anon.
The simple fact of the matter is that yuri is fucking boring. The point of romance is to self-insert, however, you can't self-insert as a girl.
Sorry, but if there's no dicks involved it just isn't interesting.
So watch any of the other harem shits coming out next season and ignore this
This is just gonna be 3deep5u fap material anyway. Nothing about saving yuri, just the same shit coming out every season
If it has female on female romantic development it is yuri. Saki is yuri. Sakura trick is yuri. Prisma illya is yuri. Madoka is yuri. Yuri may not be the primary genre but a story can cover many genres at once.
They're already referencing it. The trailer keeps conflating "loving" and "eating," and folklore about the Sankebetsu bear often includes apocryphal details about it pursuing in particular the flesh of women. The token male characters, meanwhile, will probably take the role of the matagi.
Mouretsu Pirates was always yuri.
>posts in thread about yuri show
>C'MON GUYS! NO TALKING ABOUT YURI IN HERE!
Fuck off back to whatever confused and repressive shithole you crawled out of.
>In 2013, at a Nitro+ Q&A Panel, Gen Urobuchi was asked the following questions, which he answered:
>Q: Is Homura in love with Madoka?
>Q: Why did you choose to portray a homosexual love?
>A: I don't think it is that special -- a really strong friendship turns into a lovelike-relationship without the sexual attraction, in their case.
I'm not going to lie and say that I've read the essay, but to argue that author, and the text the author produces are completely separate, and that after he has completed his writing he has no say over how people should interpret it, seems ridiculous to me.
If the author says "no, that is not what I meant" then that's it. It is his story. He came up with it. To argue against his statement would be the equivalent of arguing against someones tastes "no you DON'T like chocolate, I don't care what you say I know better".
I'm just going to say that love can be shaped up in many forms. You're free to believe whatever you want.
I also believe it to be like what you're saying.
>To argue against his statement would be the equivalent of arguing against someones tastes "no you DON'T like chocolate, I don't care what you say I know better".
Wouldn't it be a better analogy to say that it's like to argue against God? He creates the world and the life that lives in that world. So if his intention was like that, then it is like that.
I don't think that the author's interpretation is inherently any more valid than anyone else's. If we take your argument to the logical extreme, he could say that a certain scenes means something that is completely retarded and contradicts everything else in the writing and it would be true. I think that's silly. As for the specific case of Madoka, it's really easy to argue that Homura is gay for Madoka and there's no doubt that the story supports this. As long as you can reasonably justify your interpretation, I think it's just as valid as whatever the author says or perhaps even more so.
I haven't read the essay either.
He is basically applying the "There's many sides to love and it doesn't always have to be romantic or sexual" card
There's family love for example, you may love your mom or dad and do everything in your power so nothing bad ever happens to them. Doesn't mean you wanna fuck them.
Same with Slaine who was confirmed not to be in love with the princess in A/Z but is just extremely loyal to her if you want a male/female example
Do they want to? Yes? Well, that's weird.
See, what you have their is a biased double standard. You're willing to ignore how they all want his dick because you like the yuri subtext.
Go fuck yourself. There has been absolutely NOTHING in Madoka that ever supports the idea of Homura thinking of Madoka like a sister. Nothing. If you have any evidence of that whatsoever feel free to post it but you dont.
>Wouldn't it be a better analogy to say that it's like to argue against God?
I think the problem arises with shitty writers. They write one thing because it's cool or convenient for the story even if it's not realistic or fitting, and then try to argue that it ain't what it is when it clearly is. In those cases it's far more convenient for the audience to just reject whatever the writer is telling you and just accept your own more sensical and probably in some ways more objective interpretations of the story as canon. It's a weird thing. "death of the author" seems like an argument that people like to use when it's convenient for them, but sometimes the authors background or their comments on their story can make your own experience even better. That's why I don't really like "death of the author" because it seems like its never an actual belief but rather just a convenience thing.
Usually you would use an example that actually works. The fact he cant come up with one means he actually doesn't have an idea of what it could be besides romantic love but doesnt want to accept that.
That's a good point. The name "death of the author" doesn't really help either since it seems to imply that the author's word is useless. To be honest, it is mostly just a convenience thing. If you value what the author has to say, then you'll probably just accept it and have no real problems. If the author rambles off a bunch of crap, it's pretty easy to just ignore it and cite "death of the author." I think that's perfectly fair though; shitty writers shouldn't have their word taken very seriously.
Great, more yuri-baiting nonsense.
If you must be a yuri fag, please don't be so loud and stupid. It gives other people a bad name.
This thread is full of cancerous /u/ fags that did not follow previous threads or let alone fully watched PV.
This show is about alien race of bears almost extincting humanity so they wall from them like in SnK, and 2 bears infiltrating human academy.
Their goal is to eat all the cute girls.
And by eat, its meant not "eat them out", but "rip appart, devour, and shat out".
The show confirmed to have gore, cannibalim (well bear on man is not really cannibalism) and is referring to "bear arashi:' incident in japan where multiple people died few years ago.
God, you're pathetic.
This isn't about what happens, it's about what the girls want to do, and what their intentions are.
It's no wonder you think everything is yuri. Because you take things at nothing more than face value.
>must be yuri
Not how it works.
so Penguindrum was a flop, is this going to be an even bigger flop since its yuri?
To be a Yuri it seems a picture made to please male audience
Im watching this for the DEEP SYMBOLISM
>so Penguindrum was a flop
If your standard for being a flop is "didn't sell in the double digits" then yes (and by that standard nearly every other anime is a flop).
However, if by flop you mean it sold less than 2-3k, then no, if I remember correctly, Penguindrum sold around 6-8k.
From the character list we know important part of show will be "Trial"
Theres Judge, Prorosecutor and Lawyer characters.
After the war Bears and Humans, on brink of extinction walled up from each other and maintain peace (both races suffered).
So who will be judged?
Human girl for killing bears or bears for killing/infilitrating human territory?
The PV shows segment of human girl being at the trial by Bear "fabulous Ikuhara selfinsert"
>5,244 Mawaru Penguindrum
And most shows do flop, but they're made for advertisement purposes because they're adaptations of LN or Manga so they make bank on that. Penguindrum was an original anime.
So was Yuri, in the end. That doesn't mean we're not going to have some FABULOUS MAX in the mean time.
>And most shows do flop
Not necessarilly, flop would imply sales levels didn't reach the break even point.
Some people still stick to that retarded Manabi line, even though it's been proven to be a wrong measure, since what ultimately matters in this case is the company getting more than what they invested.
>"bear arashi:' incident in japan where multiple people died few years ago.
>few years ago
Try 99 years ago. Also,
>expecting Ikuhara to play yuri straight with no bloodshed
>expecting Ikuhara to play bloodshed straight with no yuri
We're dealing with the king of gratuitous allegories here.
I'm a yurifag and I will shit on anyone who claims this show is yuri.
Fuck you and fuck Ikuhara for wasting Morishima's character design on this pretentious piece of shit show.
So what's wrong with yuri now you faggots? Worried you can't self-insert and easily claim seasonal waifus?
D no C
Danzetsu no Court
I wish I were a qt 2D lesbian.
>No one here actually wants to become a cute 2d lesbian,
I want to be a qt brown lesbian loli pilot.
interracial yuri is gross.
So, who's looking forward to the inevitable lesbian NTR?
I'm not repulsed by it but just because it has lebians in it doesn't make it good or worth watching. I'd rather just watch/read hentai that has lesbians in it. Because inevitable what they're there for is fanservice and to get your dick hard.
In the show, Anthy leaves Akio for Utena as well.
>morishima is straight
>she even wrote a tweet saying she considered herself a lesbian and then Japanese SJW bashed her because she used the word レズ for it
Niggers pls. Why is /a/ so fucking ignorant?
the reason people will watch it is because it's from the same creator as Utena and Penguindrum
I myself is just going to stick to the manga and ignore the obvious anime shitpost threads
What's wrong with the word レズ?
I don't even know what it is
Morishima's one-shots are usually about genuine lesbians rather than "but it's forbidden love" schoolgirl types so I would say she's pretty obviously a lesbian
Because you're trying to "argue" about it without even knowing vital things. Is like seeing a blind person play target shooting.
>What's wrong with the word レズ?
In Japanese it's a slur, like "dyke" in English. The "proper" politically correct term is ビアン or レズビアン (literally "bian" and "lesbian")
There are a few words used by the Japanese derived from the English word "lesbian": "rezu", "rezubian" and "bian". "Rezu" (レズ) has over the years acquired a derogatory connotation (so that it rings similarly to "dyke" in English) and its use is frowned upon; most Japanese lesbians these days use "bian" (ビアン) in self-reference.
I'm not talking about you, as in yourself, I'm talking about you, as in /a/ in general. Fucking English doesn't even has a first person plural. Truly くそ language.
Yeah, there was also this thing going on in TV that pushed the use of 外国人 over 外人 because they found it offensive to foreigners. They are not really at the level of western SJW, but they are still annoying as they like to hugbox everything.
I'll watch it for guaranteed entertaining threads.
This thread brings horrific memorie of Sakura Trick. And few last threads were decent without the abominable /u/ mutants invaions...
Its not even trolls, its genuine hostile /u/ retards shitting on everything and confirming once again /u/ as worst 4chan community by far
You realize the board was mortally infected and to awoid threads when you see words like "het-shit" used or assumptions of anti-yuri conspiracy by fujoshi and yaoi fags.
Whats worse, its not 4chan exclusive - during Sakura Trick that cancer even spread to ANN, so theres really some dedicated imbeciles.
Not really. More like, dirty smelly /u/ landwhale monsters crawl up from their caves at their own board and terrorize /a/ threads when any remotely yuri show airs completely paralizing all discussion and paranoid that theres anti yuri conspiracy, while the only threat to those shows are their own retardation
Reminder that this guy is not trolling. Its genuine autist.
>mfw I can accept that PreCure isn't a yuri series despite me being a massive yurifag and can still enjoy the friendship between the girls as I did with Marimite and as I do with moeshit series
Back to /u/, cancer.
I can understand this if you have been into anime for less than 5 years, but come on, step it up, son.
Alright, remove the "shit" from the word and then you got it. I just say moeshit as an impulse, but it's basically the only series I watch now, I can't hate them even if I want.
Nanoha is a must-watch of magical girls enthusiasts and yurifags, it might not be great nowadays, but it was just "good" back then, considering it was of the first Mahou Shoujo made for an adult audience.
>Ikuhara won't state who his favorite character is because it'd spoil the story.
I'm going to guess it's Ginko
just because she looks like him.
You could have at least tried to salvage it by being on-topic and voicing your hopes and expectations for the show.
I'm looking forward to Ikuhara imagery and it looks like it won't disappoint. I don't expect anything close to or better than Utena and even anticipate Penguindrum levels of being unimpressed (after a while). Looks like this'll be a fun show.
I don't care if it has dykes or not, I just don't want another disapoinment like Penguindrum. I love Ikuhara's work from the 90s but we aren't in the 90s anymore. Inb4 Murakami and Nigh of the Galactic Train, pic related. Besides, I think knowing those works make Penguindrum to look even worse
>expecting a silver link anime to sell
By the time Penguindrum's ending came about, I wasn't sure what was going on and couldn't feel anything about it; started out interesting but declined a bit past the halfway point and felt longer than it should have been.
Overall, I really enjoyed some of the presentation (the OP, laser slingshot, child-incinerator orphanage, Penguin queen's intro segment/Rock Over Japan).
I came here for this.
I am just happy there is more yuri even if the show ends in het.
NON CONFLICTIVE YURIFAGS [email protected]
>"yuri", "anti-yuri", anti-"yuri", anti-"anti-yuri"
Let's just talk about what actually matters:
Actual discussion. Also, mostly baseless speculation.
This made me think.
Can't it be about both the Sankebetsu and Fukushima incidents?
Both have a natural force (bears, radioactivity) that was mistreated (deforestation, not meeting safety requirements) and because of that caused problems, which in turn caused people to blame the natural force (or, in the latter case the usage of it).
It's a bit of a stretch, but the similarities are there.
When it comes to Ikuhara, sometimes crackpot theories bear fruit (apples).
The sheer crazy homophobia, paranoia and shit flinging from the 'anti yuri' people is hilarious. Exactly why other than 'I can't self insert as a girl' does it make it bad? Was there any notion it's actually romantic in nature and not just going to be used as an allergy somewhere?
The fucking images you all are fighting over are they typical bait over sexualized shit they use for every series in magazines. Pay them no attention.
Is the pic really saying that "you shouldn't have to recognize references to appreciate it" or is it saying "you shouldn't complain this has similarities to another work but look at it alone"?
Just curious cus it could be both ways if the translation wasn't careful.
Anyway, I haven't seen Utena yet but I loved Penguindrum. Would you mind telling me why Utena is better than Penguindrum (if that's what you're implying)? Will I love it even more?
Are you sure you aren't saying that just because you missed all the details and don't fully understand all the implications happening during the ending and realize how beautiful it is, instead seeing it only as some theatrical melodrama with no depth?
