Disappointment of the year?

Last episode was literally just asspull of the year

More like Yuki Yuna wa Asspull de Aru

Didn't we have Kyoukai no Kanata this year? It is hardly asspull of the year.

Considering the amount of the little ones they killed that makes sense. They stopped attacking for 2 years when they got pushed back without being destroyed by Sonoko.

Worst ending possible. Made the entire 11 episodes before it meaningless and the entire plot uninteresting by simply erasing it. Suck a dick.

The big problem with the ending was showing Togo getting her legs back before we saw Itsuki speaking again, it would have had a bigger impact.

Not even of the season, much less of the year.
>>
>>118852669
Episode 11 was my favorite because of the impact it has, seeing Karin go mankai once was expected, but then she continues over and over and you just want it to stop.

Episode 12 on the other hand, you see the girls Mankai again and you again want it to stop.
But suddenly it was all fine and nothing even fucking mattered.
For all that it matters, you can just mankai all you fucking want and kill the fairies afterwards to get back your body functions.
>>
>>118852719
Can we pretend that one doesn't exist?
>>
>>118852510
Here's the thing, willpower requires cognition. Yuna did not have cognition, she was fucking brain dead. Would have actually been interesting if she would have had a heroic death or something, ugh
>>
>>118852266
What does this remind you of?
>>
>>118847984
Last episode was what we were hoping for. Just that without enough information for the viewer to arrive at the same conclusion.

So the world is probably still fire, but the vertexes are no more and no more girls will need to be sacrificed.

Tasogare deserved the happy ending though.

at least it was shown as a gradual process. It had had to be countless months before Yuna got out of the hospital, since everyone else was fine by then.

>>
>>118853464
It was obviously going to have a happy ending, but there needed to be a grander resolution after they expanded the scope of the story so far in like one episode. It didn't feel like anything really changed or got accomplished, which is unsatisfying.

Again to bring up the Madoka comparisons, it's like they looked at Madoka's ending where a lot of stuff is reset and it doesn't seem like the world's changed all that much and just copied it. But in Madoka that ending had a point, it wasn't just the status quo.
>>
>>118854639
Feels like you cared more about the grandiose setting than the characters to whom the setting was supposed to be the stage. Seeing them finally perform their skit was very satisfying, as were the character developments of Tougou and specially Karin throughout the series.

Yeah, not much changed for the setting. That would be impossible to resolve without an actual asspull. Maybe it'll be resolved in future installments of the series and that would be great. But maybe it'll be left open to speculation, and that's ok too. They've given us enough to work with.
>>
>>118854090

It took longer because the others were released by Shinju-sama, hence the petals falling on them, while Yuuna's sacrifices were kept. She had to fucking will herself better from a vegetative state.
>>
>>118855100
They made the setting into the plot. The plot is about characters caught up in the setting, this system, this giant glowing tree in a hostile universe of constellation gods. These elements were what everything built up to, but it doesn't go past the revelation. Nobody is at all affected by this newfound knowledge of the Taisha, Shinju-sama, and the nature of their world. It's literally resolved for these characters in a text message.

Everything in this show has been so over-the-top that it's been entertaining. This ending's a come-down, and that's disappointing.
>>
I was expecting the worst.
I'm perfectly fine with them being able to return to their everyday lives, it was all I wanted for them.
>>
Why do anime writers/directors/staff always cop out?
What are they being afraid of?

It set itself up all fucking show to have a suffering end. I was thrilled to have Yuki stay in this coma state forever. Having the girls constantly remembering that their suffering was real by visiting her from time to time.

>>118855896

They didn't need to include all the previous suffering if it all amounts to nothing. Just make a shit generic mahou shoujo. It's false marketing.
>>
>asspull

The threat's gone, Shinju has no need for their offerings, the destroyed Vertex gave it enough power to make it unnecessary. Having Yuuna come back so quickly was a bit ridiculous but it was all for the culture festival end that they had been setting up since episode 4(?)

you have to be hyped for a show for it to be a disappointment. Everyone dropped Barristers after episode 2. Everyone was fucking screaming AOTY in every thread for YYY this entire season.

Are you telling me that hype goes up after the first episode or something? Sure, it did not pull an Edent of the East or Occult Academy but it still shat on everyones expectations.

Best ending possible. It was a little rushed and a thirteenth episode is needed but Takahiro still managed to save Christmas.
>>
>>118855896
don't show this scene then if you're going to retract it five seconds later. Everyone else was fine, you didn't need to put Yuna in a 10 minute coma. They could've tied loose ends with all the time they wasted faking this.
>>
>>118855967
>It's false marketing.
Nigga what? It was marketed as a SoL you dumbass. You're the one who fell for the /a/ edgelord circlejerking.

The petals could also signify that Yuuna's service hadn't ended like the others. That would mean Shinju-sama eventually gave her back her sacrifices like everyone else to make it look like she wasn't a hero.

Yeah, it's a shit show. Maybe they let the Divine Tree die and they get all their sacrifices back or something that makes remote sense? Nope. Not in this show.

You keep using that word. It's clearly explained that they've fended off the Vertex for now, and the Vertex they did destroy gave Shinju enough power that their sacrifices wouldn't be needed, at least for the time being. The next set of heroes will most likely take on the same burden.
>>
>>118856313
>nullifies episodes 6-11 with no actual good reason
Again:
"Yuyuyu is the new type of SoL which is designed for audience to realize how precious the daily life of characters is"
The point was to make you worried for the characters, so you would appreciate their daily lives that much more when they came back. Nothing is nullified. All of those events still occurred. If you feel they were nullified then you completely missed the point and this show clearly just wasn't for you. I don't understand how you got to episode 6 in the first place if you obsess over the plot this much. It was a SoL show from the very start.

Yea we had episodes 1-6 to realize that.

I guess in the end it's just a show for kids and the power of friendship solves everything.

Yuuna didn't have any petals on her when they were all lying in a circle after the fight.
Gyuuki wasn't shown disappearing.
Yuuna looked kind of funny when Tougou said the stuff about willpower.
Yuuna fainted during the school play.

This is what I think: Yuuna touching the Vertex soul with her bare hand while untransformed made something happen. She accidentally absorbed a piece of the Vertex, or she had a glimpse into the ways of the universe, or she just used so much power that it brought her very, very close to the holy tree, or all of the above. Whatever happened, she was suddenly in a position to ask the holy tree for things, and she said she wanted the sacrifices back, and for her friends to be freed from the hero system. But the tree still needed someone to protect it...so Yuuna offered herself. With only one extremely pure and possibly semi-godly person in charge of all Mankai, the need for handicaps went away completely. Everybody went home, and it took time, but they gradually recovered their health over a period of a few months.

She had to make sure that nobody ever knew what she was doing, but since the forestize stops time, all she had to do during the school play was ask the tree to put her back where she was after she was done fighting. Time stopped, she went to fight, she came back, and everyone just assumed she was still weak from her recovery.

Yuuna chose to fight alone. The fact that she was doing what she knew was right, defending her friends, was enough to outweigh the pain, the terror, and the isolation of being the only hero.

Yes, and they even admitted as much, although several others have been cited as Madoka ripoffs.

I hadn't been this hyped for a final episode in years and that was one of the weakest endings in recent memory. If they wanted to go with this type of ending they needed 1-2 (probably 2) more episodes to transition.

I don't think fiction is for you man. Go read a textbook or something. There's much more to a story than plot details. The ending of this show was beautiful for anyone who was actually attached to the characters. It was also consistent with the themes that were perpetuated throughout the show. Remember the 5 tenets? Try not to give up? You're likely to succeed if you try? Anything but a happy ending would not be consistent with these.

I meant to add that if the holy tree has decided that One Is Enough, Yuuna can have much more of its power without the same limitations. Now she really is a chosen hero working as one with the holy tree, and its power. (Alone. ALONE.)
>>
>>118857278
This.
They survived long enough, and killed enough vertexes and stardust for Shinjuu to gain enough power to strengthen its wall again and vertexes could no longer get through. It may only be temporary, but it was long enough for Shinjuu to demobilize his Yuusha taking his power away from them totally after which over months their bodies slowly healed.
No one knew, or could know, except Shinjuu because no Hero had ever made it to retirement before and they had not killed enough vertexes before for anyone to notice the power increase. They lived long enough and performed just well enough to acheve this end, in spite of being practically abandoned by the adults who were supposed to be managing and assisting them.

I do wonder what was meant by having Yuuna kill the vertex by just touching its core with her finger. Itsuki killed that tiny one in episode 5 with one finger but was that because of its size or did the same thing happen to the giant one? Was it just that no one knew that rather than using weapons a hero could destroy a core just by touching it? And that also the star light could be absorbed by shinjuu and used by him as power simply because no one had seen it before>
>>
>>118857721
To keep Tougou away from the fighting, and thus protect her? Forever. Yuuna has powers that her 100% normal human friends do not have. Tougou is a smart bitch but she probably can't fight god power that wants more than anything to keep her safe.

I think the thing about normal humans maybe being able to kill Vertex cores with their bare hands is pretty interesting
>>
Akame ga Shitpost was the worst anime of the decade.
>>
>>118852905
>ugh
>>
Regardless of the outcome, that only thing that's not gonna be a surprise here is that they might try to milk this until the story goes to the shitter, which should happen as soon as they confirm a second season or even a movie of this shit.
>>
>>118857931

Unless she's going full Akuma, she's not going to toy with Tougou's free will like that.
>>
>>118857984
Oh, yes. I love literal deus ex machina endings.
No, that's called bad writing. It's a bad show. I don't like the show that you like.
Gonna cry?

Too much daijoubu in one episode

>she was fucking brain dead
No she wasn't. And the symptoms of the mankai just took a while longer to fade away because she went nuts with the power. Yuuna said to them that everything was going to be fine and know it was their turn to wait for her to come back.
>>
>>118858059
Yuuna isn't toying with anyone. Tougou was so desperately sad when she found out what was going on that she tried to end the world. Keeping Tougou away from the fighting for her own health is very serious fucking business now.
>>
Ending becomes much better when you realize that Yuuna is still a hero and is fighting on alone.
>>
>>118857332
I, too, want to believe. But that would mean that Yuuki Yuuna's chapter isn't over at all. It would actually mean that it just begun.

Agreed.
>>
>>118858117
The funny thing is that you think someone is going to cry after someone stupidly claims there was some shenanigans involved with the ending. And, by the looks of it, you're going to continue your little playful comments going absolutely nowhere even when everybody is explaining what happened. And I'm not going to waste my time with that anymore.
>>

sure, pal.

I get that reference! Very funny.

Steve, does an anime about hero girls who wear funny costumes to fight make you happy?

No

This should've been the ending.
>>
>>118858510
I seriously thought I was rewatching Rebellion during the Yuuna/Tougou parts of the finale. Same hair colour, similar relationship, even similar dialogue.
>>
>>118858418
I really didn't see any difference in her detransformation and the disappearance of her fairies. But I will go watch it again and look for what you guys are talking about.
>>
It was a good S1 ending. No obvious cliffhanger, but there might be a subtle one with the whole Yuuna taking too fucking long to recover and falling on stage business. Everything is back to normal but there's a shitload of questions unanswered. There's also a much bigger picture that is the actual War between gods, and a lot of backstory with the previous heroes that wasn't covered. I'm not exactly hyped for next season but I expect it with pretty high hopes.
>>
>>118858555
Thats acually true. The ending gives people an impression of the whole series. Like no matter how many shit a show has in the middle, a godlike ending makes it a masterpiece. And vice verca unless its not a cohesive story.
>>
>>118858704
Is that Onii-sama?
>>
I don't like this stuff about everything but Shikoku being fire and flying sperm. I'm not buying that. I feel like this anime is trying to say I can't comprehend the antagonist because they're OMG INHUMAN GODS.
>>
>>118850030
wait for the movie idiot
>>
>>118858937
>vice verca
I was about to answer to obvious bait
>>
>>118859137
There's actually two barriers and season 2 will have Yuuna punching all the way through the second into the REAL real world.
>>
>>118856828
3:58 is some of the least expressive cheering in the heat of battle I have ever heard, why are Japanese voice actors so shit?
>>
I am wondering now why I didn't consider the possibility of Shinjuu eating the vertex cores to get more powerful before. What happens when a virus enters a human or animal body? It gets engulfed by a white cell, broken down by protein's- if they are the right type- and then digested. The Vertexes, several which even resemble electron microscope photographs of viruses, are engulfed by the Forestize and then destroyed by attacks by the Hero's inside. Why did we not pay attention to where the remains were going? They even made note of the "strange death" in the dialogue. Was the drama caused by what was happening to the girls act as misdirection? Like a magicians trick?
>>
>>118858897
All of them have petals dropping on them and their fairy disappointing except Yuuna.
Yuuna spilt second fainting is dodgy as fuck, it is like she went to the forestize in the middle and then came back.
>>
>>118859137
They wanted to remove the option of negotiation. They wanted to make clear that the enemy was really the enemy and not a misunderstood other humanity so there was no choice but to find a way to fight and win.
>>
>>118859358

The rule's always been that they reappear back at the shrine. Changing that offscreen for the sake of a stinger would be weak.
>>
>>118859239
Sorry, typo. If you don't agree with my opinion you may explain why.
>>
Yes, it was an asspull. Yes, it was bad.

BUT FUCK IT. I'm happy, really. I'm happy girls got better, I'm happy Karin doesn't have to live the rest of her life deaf AND blind. It's even worse than Sonomi.

>Onee-chan

The ending was pretty rushed and subpar IMO. And I was someone rooting for a happy ending.

Yes this is a happy ending but there's a well-written happy ending and then there's this.

Holy shit that sounds plausible.

Yuuna is the hero we don't deserve.
>>
>>118859797
This is something that was expected by anyone.
What wasn't expected was motherfucking Karin mankai again.
I was like woah what the fuck are you doing, oh well thank god the 2nd half save her but at what cost.
Is the sales going to tank? Will there be a huge hatebase?

The ending left many unanswered points, can only hope they know what they are doing.

I kind of hope (I am a terrible person) that the god tree is actually some kind of parasite feeding off of Shikoku. The rest of the world sends in its very best to try and stop the tree, and it just eats them. Meanwhile, it can do anything it wants within its own barrier, so if it wants to use an illusion to make the outside world look like hell, or the Vertexes look like monsters, it can. It grows people like livestock and them makes them fight to defend it.

So then there is some kind of humanity out there, and negotiation may be possible someday, just not in these 12 episodes.
>>
>>118859619
I also thought it was an asspull until I noticed this was the end of Season 1. When watching, it was conclusive and happy, and I thought "oh, well, so much for risking it", it was pretty good still, but then I noticed, it wasn't even the end of the series. Among season endings, this was god-tier.
>>
>>118859933
>that M. Night Shyamalan level plot twist
please no
>>
I don't know what you guys are talking about, I absolutely loved this episode.
>>
>>118860010
I read a summary thread from Japan where people were discussing that maybe the tree is yamata no orochi. Ideally that means that the heroes will use teamwork to defeat the monster in a blast of sparkles giving way to a perfect blue sky, without ever needing Susanoo to save them. Shit I would fucking watch that
>>
>>118859358
Your right about the petals and no Gyuuki. In this series that has to mean something.
>>
>>118859933
What if Yuuna Learned the Truth when she touched the Vertex core and and and

then I don't know what
