HxH isn't the only battle shounen to do that, and in his case it just ends up being a case of using a double edged sword. Luffy does the exact same thing during the white beard war and Gohan as well when he fights Cell and they both experience actual tragedies as a result since Luffy loses his brother due to his constant over exertion of himself leading to all the damage finally catching up to him and Ace needing to protect him and Gohan's arogance as a result of all his power leads to him not killing Cell in time and Goku being forced to give up his own life to stop him from blowing up the planet. No part of HxH is a deconstruction of battle shounen, let alone a real subversion since there are tons of battle shounen that handle tons upon tons of different tropes in a variety of different ways.
