Looking back, it wasn't great but it wasn't mediocre. I'd consider it on the upper end of average to low good. Part of the problem, was that there was such a culture of hype and cult of personality around certain characters on /a/ (notably doshking/variousfags), that we blew it up more than it needed to be. The OVA episode was pointless, and quite frankly it ended better if you ignore that one.

It's just that everything have been discussed to death and there's nothing to talk about anymore. I'll agree to that. When Trigger kept saying the heart of the series was in the second half and how it would get progressively darker, I started to expect something like Berserk or Gunslinger Girl, where the protagonist keeps losing parts of themself as the series progressed. I could see KLK going in that direction with the blood loss and the Ryuukozombie stuff... but then it just turned into a generic shounenpowerup show.

I think the moment that kill la killed it for me was when Discomom pulled a Raiden Ryuuko's heart. I just lost all investment in the character at that point. Great. She's invincible.
