Fate/Zero was originally written as light novels by Gen Urobuchi, a fairly well-esteemed writer in the business. Fate/Stay Night was written by Nasu, the main Type-Moon writer who is considered mediocre-at-best with some interesting ideas. And Fate/Stay Night originated as a pornographic visual novel which means it's harem crap with high schoolers and a terrible protagonist. To compound things, the anime version was animated by DEEN, which means its cheap, ugly, and badly directed. I've heard nothing good about it, and the clips I've seen have confirmed those impressions.

You realize that at the time Gen was struggling and had trouble writing anything at all, right? Nasu literally saved his career by giving him Fate/Zero to work on, and Urobuchi readily admits this. Working with an established setting and characters let him dive right into storytelling instead of getting bogged down in generating ideas. Gen is foremost somebody who excels in dramatic storytelling, being handed an amazingly detailed setting and several developed characters to play with was a godsend for somebody struggling to create a strong author identity.

After two routes of pathetic goody two shoesness and after breaking your balls with the "unlimited walls of text work" about anti-heroes, that was the way to go. Ally with Sakura, kicking Tosaka's ass nice and slowly, make Sakura collect all the souls, surrender to the warp and the dark gods.
Anti-hero this, anti-hero that, and in the end that guy was just Tosaka's obedient little bitch as usual.

That's probably my one and only gripe about Heaven's Feel. Shirou, even though he is clearly taken by Sakura and continuously states her love for her, STILL feels like he's crushing on Rin throughout the entire fucking playthrough. Even if Shirou resolves himself to save one girl over the entire fucking world, he still manages to get nervous around Rin and think about her romantically on occasion.

This isn't like Shirou in UBW and Fate where he crushes on the heroines for a long time, Shirou from very early stages of HF makes love to Sakura and constantly says how committed he is to her, yet he still manages to act like a dumb shy kid who doesn't know the touch of a woman around other girls. Rin is also at fault for constantly teasing him in tempting ways, even if she doesn't know it. The only time she respected Sakura's relationship with Shirou was when she accidentally ate his bento. Shirou pissed me off in that scene too.

Give Sakura a fucking break already, why does her one and only love have to be so childish? I really don't blame her for anything she did. Kid got the short end of the stick way too many fucking times and it's only a coincidence that she was bestowed with so much power.

That sisters scene at the end really moved me though. I loved how Rin tried her fulfill her role as Fuyuki's watcher up until before the very end. I felt genuinely angry at Rin the entire time given her responses to Sakura's rants and made a complete 180 after she realized how she just really couldn't do it. It further highlighted her "fucking things up when it counts" trait for me.

Shirou likes Rin, it's just a fact. He likes all the heroines, and his interest in them show up even "outside" their routes. Rin is the school idol who he's had a crush on for a pretty long while, you can't just expect him to /not/ be attracted to her.

Tosaka fucked things up for the entirety of that route. The only things she achieved was to piss off constantly her sister, even treatening her when Sakura could have just snapped her finger and having Rider deal with her instantly. She just ruined her relationship with the guy she loved and was the only escape from her shitty existance. Acting always as the only one that would be able to defeat the bad gramp, and instead Sakura just did it by herself making all of Tosaka meddling totally useless. And in the end it was all Tosaka's fault that they ended to deal with Sakura.
Seriously, we can really consider Tosaka as the true villain and evil of the heaven feel route. Everytime she was involved she just pushed everything more into the shit.

Sakura acknowledges/realizes that she ripped all those people to shreds way too late. Her falling under Zouken was just her way of coming to terms with the all the sins she unknowingly committed. She cornered herself by saying there was no way to atone for her sins, so she might as well play the role of the sinner full force. I'm just speculating because I'm pretty sure Rin in Heaven's Feel is the only character in the game that lets you earn superfluous points. There are flags in Fate where you need Saber points, balancing Rin and Saber points determines which ending of UBW you get, and balancing Sakura and Ilya points helps determine stuff in Heaven's Feel as well.

Rin points in Heaven's Feel are the oddity, if I'm not mistaken.

I agreed with some of the points you made in the post I replied to, but not to this extent. After the sisters scene, it seemed to me that Tohsaka, for the entirety of Heaven's Feel, was just doing all she could to steel herself and do what needed to be done. It was what needed to be done at the time too, a lot of people could have been saved if she was of mind to do it, but she wasn't. It felt like to me, that everything (aside from the Shroud) that Shirou learned about Sakura was learned by Rin at about the same times, but just like Shirou, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

Her tough talk was all revealed to be a facade in the end, and you can't really ignore that since it's practically one of the most important points of the entire route.

Actually the last scene looked ridiculous to me. Sakura was able to literally re-assemble herself after being cutted into pieces, and extract things bare-haded from her heart. Do people really not "get" Rin in HF? in the route, she goes full magus mode. You can see it in other parts of the novel, where she hardens up and tries to live up to the expectations of her family name; being a strong traditional magi, but it's in HF where that's fully on display.

The thing is though, as the route eventually shows, that's not her. Deep down she's kindhearted, and ultimately can't bring harm to people she cares about. Hell, as a side note to that, in UBW she even straight up saved Shinji despite him being a total cunt.

I agree, UBW dealt with the struggle between her magus self, and self she wanted to be, but HF showed what happens when she tries to go full in to that darker "real magi" persona. She comes out at the end, but it's more of an exploration of that part of her character.

So yeah, I suppose you may be onto something regarding the Pokemon thing. The game looks fun though, and is what I'd expect from a minigame featuring SD charas. It doesn't have to be as deep (gameplay wise) as Pokemon or whatever. You're just supposed to collect cute SD charas and have fun watching them wack the shit out of each other while occasionally casting spells/skills that cutely reference source material.

The masters themselves are adorable, femHokuto's interaction with Shirou was pretty funny.
