What is the most satisfying or well-rendered punch/hit you have ever seen Illustrated/animated?
Do you prefer the solid single hit, or the flurry of blows?
Posting OPM feels like cheating, but the all of the details Murata uses are amazing.
Captain Japan has such a simple plot but goddamit does it know how to tell it's story.
ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
Nigga never even stood a chance. You can see the outline of her fist from inside his face. He just be biking home like it's no big deal then BAM
Everything Ryoma Nagare
Took me several hours to understand what the fuck is happening and several more to fucking cry out of happiness
The second time he uses it is gonna be even better though.
Also, man, I'd forgotten how rough that page looks. It's still good, but I'm feeling Oda was a bit short on time that week.
I know it's more of a slice than a hit but I realized that Berserk was something special when a fucking crocodile gets bisected and it's just the status quo.
It's now one of my favorite panels.
The first hit on every major boss is always a work of art
>that dramatic entrance and smackdown on Arlong
>that Aha! moment when he finally smacks Crocodile
>the Enel face
>Luffy and Lucci clash punch for punch and fly away from each other
>Nightmare Luffy showing up to ruin Moria/Oars' day
>effortlessly BTFOing Hody
>switcheroo Red Hawk on Doflamingo
The punch in the TV episode was animated by Naoki Tate, it's a tribute to the punch animated by Hisashi Mori in the 6th One Piece film where Sushio was an animation supervisor.
fuck yes, this is what made me so, ok opm is awesome. Like, I loved it beforehand, but the crispness of this punch really got to me. Also gave me a sense of appreciation for pri-pri mainly for hitting sea king back rather than toppeling after the punch. One of my favourite couple of pages, that exchange.
Side note, Sea King is the best OPM enemy.
Name a more satisfying one
protip: you can't
Hrm, don't have a gif or pic of it. But the punch Naruto landed on Kau after he released his kyuubi chakra was pretty good. The anime, at least, was well done (didn't read manga at that point).
Fuck that cunt.
And the best part is that it was the punch that made her remember pain. Fucking awesome.
She just went a couple of minutes just laughing and then started screaming in complete pain.
Absolute fucking bliss.
I remember the original version Murata did of this pic had the cars flying and the shockwave tearing up the street behind Sea King. He had to do a version 2 of it and tone it down to this one.
Loved the mild amount of emotion Saitama showed when he saw genos and lisenceless rider fucked up. Sea King arc best arc.
Probably doesn't match up with the rest of these posts in terms of art quality but it sure is satisfying. Especially on a re-read.
Also, I like my punches simple and down to earth.
dunno about perect, but during the scene, this was perfect.
how about a punch that was heard around the world?
A punch delivered by a man forced to stay his hand for 6 episodes (5 years wait for the audience). A man having to order his men and women into their deaths against the device that crippled the world's energy supply and annihilated san francisco, beijing, london, paris: the Eye of Vogler. All agents are down, dead ir captured. The last hope of a lone boy and his Giant Robo lies smashed beneath it. Only one man remains.
what the anime?it look cash as fuck
best anime oav ever made
Giant Robo the animation
Get the first english dub, not the horrible 2k one.
>its on youtub if you're lazy
Not the best thing ever but it felt pretty good when I watched
This fuckers face right before and Meruem's after basically contribute heavily to how well-rendered it is. Context means more than the art here.
It feels almost unfair to post ippo since the fights are basically about building up to these punches, but I've always really like Takamura's first counter punch against Eagle
Probably Luffy hitting the Celestial Dragon or Bellamy.
Bellamys was amazing because of how much shit that faggot talked and how hard I wanted him to know Luffy was some serious shit he shouldn't mess with.
I still remember this scene. It played out perfectly.
I love Hajime no Ippo, but the last two anime adaptations really don't do the art from this series justice. Especially during Rising.
>Say what you will about its overall quality
What is there to say ?
There's no hipster shit to say about One Piece.
It deserved to get its popularity
Sure, it has its flaws, but dayum, is it a great shounen.
>What is the most satisfying or well-rendered punch/hit you have ever seen Illustrated/animated?
Nothing is more satisfying then the MuscleRider Special
You mean, exploring an island then finding the big bad guy, then brawling with him and defeating him later one ?
That's merely a pattern and it is never done exactly the same way.
That's forgetting all the good things that warp it up.
Too bad One Piece isn't a seinen, I guess
>You mean, exploring an island then finding the big bad guy, then brawling with him and defeating him later one
Yes. That's exactly what I mean. Also, I guess the fights didn't do anything for me.
Being a seinen wouldn't neccesarily mean that it wouldn't be a light hearted adventure between the serious fights
Many seinen have comic relief and shit.
I'm just nitpicking but it'd be great with less clichés and less yelling dumb shit for every punch the characters throw (although the puns and references are appreciated)
>He's the true protag
MuscleRider goes through hell to keep Takeshi alive.
the most satisfying slap ever delivered
Not a punch but Inoue did wonders with the art on this page
I really, really can't wait for the day Guts will give him his comeuppance.
I hope it's something like pic related, Griffith thinking he'll survive another day before getting shot by a fucking canonball in the face.
>yfw he dies peacefully and without pain like pol pot
>there will be people to cry at his death because "he did nothing wrong, fuck guts"
>Not showing the best punch
You can't even read a manga?
These hands were made for punching...
Yeah, Sea King along with Black Sperm are easily the best OPM monsters. Those doubles pages in the Murata edition, damn.
Well we are in time for the most satisfying punches arc
specially when Sweet Mask gets his face remodeled
This one felt nice.
Angries me a bit that like every characters of OP gets their own figurines in good quality when for most series the male characters almost never gets ones. Looking at ya Higurashi.
Bellamy fags make me sick
Anon, come on! Your childhood isn't complete until you can never forget
>IN THE NEXT EXCITING EPISODE... OF DRAGON BALL Z!
after getting blueballed with nothing but yelling and reaction shots for the fifth episode in a row.
Your loss dude, the show is greater than the sum of its parts.
CG wasn't the problem with the movies. Odd storytelling omissions were. Why change Zod throwing Guts the sword? Why have Skelly show up after Guts and Caska fuck? Why'd the supporting cast get so little screen time?
I mean, it was a solid effort, but there wasn't really that much wrong with the CG, especially by the last movie.
DBZ's production values are laughably bad. So many stills, reused animation, mis-colored frames, off model characters, and bland color palettes.
You could forgive the pathetic frame rate if at least the other stuff was up to par with other shows of its time, but it wasn't.
Yeah except there's lots of anime contemporary with DBZ that look far better. And I'm not talking about OVAs and movies, there's TV shows airing in the late 80s and early 90s with production values that shit all over DBZ at its best without even trying.
Just for you, some horrendous QUALITY from the same episode I've been posting here.
>the animation is okay
No it's pretty subpar even for TV shows at the time.
Try a mecha or historical fantasy show from 1985-1995 and for a comparison. Or even another action series not made by Toei. Like YuYuHakusho.
YYH's production values were pretty average overall but they look incredible compared to DBZ.
Did they have a million plus episodes to?
Are you doing them from the whole series? I remember that first episode where Goku and Vegeta luring Boo to the kai planet looking pretty fantastic actually.
>the fighting finally reaches it's climax
>wait the entire day full of anticipation for the next episode
>finally come home from school and turn on the tv
>some sandpeople flew a couple of planes in the World Trade Center and it's broadcasted on every channel
Truly the day that changed the world forever.
So you aren't going to show the better quality just talk out your ass? Also YYH had pretty much the same animation as dbz minus all the flying.
What you want more specific titles? I don't have any of these series on hand except YYH. I can make webms to show you wrong about
>Also YYH had pretty much the same animation as dbz
Cause this is hilariously wrong. You know nothing about animation if you think this is the case.
>I remember that first episode where Goku and Vegeta luring Boo to the kai planet looking pretty fantastic actually.
I'm not sure I understand what part you're talking about.
You're not wrong. DBZ isn't a technical achievement in any way, nor is it a labour of love since Toriyama was forced to work on the manga, but it's
funand that's all I really care about.
As you said, fuck David Bowie.
MuscleRider Special is so based that I never even cared about how the physics of the move even work
Like does he literally slam the fuck out of them with the broad side of his back, horizontally? Sounds confusing on paper and somewhat odd even in execution, but holy shit that execution
Nobody know or will ever know the physics of it but it doesn't matter.
The wrath of the gods got me pretty hype.
I just realized that those speed blurs aren't digital post-process effects.
>tfw I spent already over 1000 $ on One Piece P.o.P. figures
every single instance of her punching anything
Whitebeard punching Akainu. Most satisfying punch in manga history.
the artstyle seems typical but HOLY SHIT
In that first version the road just looks ridiculously wide.
2nd version was a lot better.
reminder that sketchy looking men are best men
Surprised this hasn't already been posted. This shit made the arc worth it.
Not denying any of that, but this thread is about satisfying punches and boy did this fight have a lot of them.
It's a shame that one is kinda disappointing because it takes up two pages, but ends up doing jack shit because
Not a a punch but that pile driver (?) move in Gigantomakhia was pretty awesome. The whole "beating monsters by being Hulk Hogan" was hilariously cool.
>Do you prefer the solid single hit, or the flurry of blows?
Single hit by far, specially if animated, fast sequence of punches you can''t even see feels like a lazy excuse to make a piss poor fighting.
One of my favorite fights of all time hands down. Shame it never really got surpassed through the whole series
It's way better in the manga, but animefags are the bane of Google Images. And I was unironically rooting for Deidara, too.
I couldn't be any less of a fan of flashy attacks like in >>118157477 or sequence of quick hits with no impact like in DBZ or JoJo
A simple, well placed and nicely done punch will always be way better
Hey if you dont think that Lee's whole hard work vs talent crusade and knocking Gaara on his smug ass wasnt the tightest shit then you can just get out of my face
Came here to post that one. This punch was also very satisfying.
Think on this. Let's say you're a Jojofag. After getting through the weirdness of Stone Ocean, SBR starts out hella cool without forcing anything on itself. Stands don't immediately appear, more focus is on mundane stuff than on straight-up punchghosts. The change in tone and general usage of powers is notable.
But then you realize. You realize that you miss some of it. All this shit with indirect weird powers is cool, but you miss more direct stuff. And after all the shit the main villain does, after everything that happens, he keeps getting away with stuff, he doesn't get comeuppance. The irritation, which had been building up, finally manifests itself in hate, particularly after
Gyro dies. So you can imagine that when peopleread this it was the hypest, most cathartic shit ever. ORAORAORA, bitch.
The fucking crater and everything that followed was just as hype, too.
It's not really action, it's more of a comedy about a delinquent trying to be a good person, and failing. But yeah, it's still one of my favourite mangas. The comedy is god tier.
A detail I just noticed: it looks like his mouthguard actually shattered from the impact. The part you bite down on is missing,
This was the last really enjoyable Ippo fight too. RIP Karasawa, you died honorably
>OPM will never have a good anime adaption
>The only medium outside of manga where it would ever look decent is as a high budget hollywood movie
>Chances are it will never ever be considered
And even if it was, it would not even compare to 1/4 of Murata's art
>Context means more than the art here
Keep telling yourself that, Hunterfag.
>implying the manga isnt an anime itself
The last time a Murata-drawn anime got an adaptation they basically didn't even try to mimic the style
Compare and try not to contrast
mfw i have friend that watch the anime and is kinda disapointed by its ending, but still wont touch the manga
>mfw this shit happens in Vagabond, Berserk and Desert Punk
What the hell happened with all the dumbass MC?
Well, at least this fucker was a dumbass even in the end.
yeah, and he wasn't even a bad dude
my favorite part about kamishiro is how he becomes beastlike when fighting sometimes
It just got way too preachy and felt like Ron Paul fanfiction. It worked much better in the beginning when Japan was an actual hellscape of debt and bad governance such that schoolgirls were working as sex slaves. Then it turns out that, surprise, we're in modern Japan, and instead of killing bad guys, we're going to bury 2nd-tier government officials alive because they misappropriated funds for a highway that never gets used. Try explaining that to his kids, asshole. "Yeah, your daddy took some kickbacks and built a bad highway, so I killed him."
Kamishiro's kicks made the fights way mroe interesting
I know Akamatsu is still on people's shit list, but damn did I love the combat in this series. The turning point where Negi became a true rival to Fate was such a great payoff.
Not to mention, even if you ignore the hypocrisy of committing murder for minor offenses, it's a huge step down from "government officials are raping schoolgirls without fear of the law because they control the judicial system" to "government officials are governing badly because there isn't strong enough oversight". If he'd constantly been breaking up sex slavery rings, the drama might have been maintained, but as it was the later chapters were fucking boring in addition to being stupid and intellectually lazy.
Man did that series lost its way. It was so good to start, too.
probably last of the Holyland dumps
Ed decking Father and breaking his nose.
Satisfying as fuck.
