Entertaining? More like insufferable.
>gilgamesh will never suck your cock
That was the mode back then. He claimed a woman's first night, something that should've belonged to her husband, on the wedding night. Part of the complaints leveled against Gilgamesh is him doing that.
In the enclosure of Uruk he stroke back and forth,
Lording it like a wild bull, his head thrust high.
The onslaught of his weapons had no equal.
His teammates stood forth by his game stick,
He was harrying the young men of Uruk beyond reason.
Gilgamesh would leave no son to his father,
Day and night he would rampage fiercely.
This was the shepherd of the ramparted Uruk,
This was the people's shepherd,
Bold, superb, accomplished, and mature!
Gilgamesh would leave no girl to her [mother]!
The warrior's daughter, the young man's spouse,
Goddesses kept hearing their plaints.
It's then that the gods create Enkidu so that Gilgamesh won't exhaust the men and women of Uruk. When Enkidu learns of this, he travels to Uruk and blocks Gilgamesh's way. If any remorse had been shown (which it might have been, but all that's left is old tablets with missing bits, and some not even from the same regions or languages), it would've been shown to the husbands for taking their right.
It's more like they send Gilgamesh so that he won't keep fucking all the women AND exhausting the men with athletic games that he always wins because he's fucking 2/3 god. Enkidu was made to be his equal and friend. And then they go on adventures and shit.
Extremely pissed, in both the Epic and Fate. In the Epic, when Ishtar starts crying over how horrible Gilgamesh has been to her, Enkidu throws one of the Bull of Heaven's legs at her and insults her.
No, I was saying that either Gilgamesh doesn't care about Enkidu since he has no beard or this is pre Enkidu Gilgamesh or Nasu hasn't read the Epic or he just doesn't care.
In the Epic, after Enkidu died by the curse of Ishtar after she failed to destroy Gilgamesh with the Bull of Heaven for insulting her, calling her a vampire slut and refusing to sleep with her, Gilgamesh moarned for him for countless nights and swore to never shave his beard in his honor. In the Epic this is a major point for the character of Gilgamesh and made him fear something for the first time in his life, he feared dying like his only friend Enkidu.
Because Nasu's alignment stuff doesn't make sense because even if you go by how people saw them while they were alive why do Berserkers get Chaotic Insane?
There's a reason he turned down Alexander's friendship because "I only have one friend/equal in this life or any other. That's enough". He swore upon Enkidu's death as he lay there that he had value, that he was irreplaceable, that no matter how long he lived or how that no one would ever be his friend except for one. Originally he was asking the sky to be punished instead, it was all his sin and arrogance. This has been something consistent throughout Gil, he will never forget his friend. In CCC in his unincarnated true state, he says he's not even worthy of saying Enkidu's name.
>The Bull of Heaven was driven off by Gilgamesh and his weapons, the dark clouds that had covered the world cleared, and the Earth was saved from flood. As punishment for defying the gods, I was made back into earth once more. He held me, that crumbling lump of earth, with all his might.
>“I won’t allow this. Why do you have to die? If someone must be punished, it should be me! All of this was my own selfishness!”
>The sky was still weeping. Unable to see, I offered him counsel. “You don’t need to be sad. I’m a weapon. Just one of all those treasures you have. You’ll find countless treasures after this, much better than I am. You see, there’s nothing so valuable about me that gives you reason to drench your cheeks like this.”
>That’s right. I was a weapon. A tool. Not like him. Though Gilgamesh was made as a child of the gods, he was a hero who defied them. He had a soul from the beginning. He had free will ever since he was born. A true life, unlike mine. A star, with real value, not a consumable like me. …I had always yearned for that. I hated it. Why, when we were made by the same gods, were we such different beings.
>“You have value! Value no one else has! I declare it here and now. In all the world, I have only one friend. So — that value will never change, for all eternity!”
Gilgamesh values Enkidu for all eternity, more than anyone.
Fucking read CCC before you keep making these accusations of "He doesn't follow the legend at all, and never cared about his friend". It's the only game where they look into his past fully, rather than just taking his offhand ramblings for it's word. Turns out it entirely follows the legend, in its own Nasu way.
Gilgamesh has a way of bullshitting due to arrogance, when he said "I gave immortality to the snake", he means he was outplayed by the snake that stole it.
It's almost sad how in F/SN Gilgamesh is just a jobbing retard who takes arrogance to moronic levels and then in all the additional material that came after it they made him a totally awesome dude.
He only jobs to Shirou. He could have beaten Saber in the Fate route, but killing her wasn't his intention until the very end, and he had no way or knowing the shadow would regenerate like it did.
Forget it, all this guys complaining about this shit not being accurate are just constantly wallowing in their stupidity.
As if Uruk were more babylon than atlantis. As if persians weren't constatnly described as pale skinned.
Nothing in the original myth suggests that Gilgamesh reformed, he just stops actively tormenting people because his busy doing other things and everyone is super pleased about it. Everyone that I've heard ever makes a fuss about it is basing their characterization off the Kevin Sorbo show, I read the epic before I ever heard about type moon and Gilgamesh in it is basically Rambo sans morals.
bromance ever told.
>Kevin Sorbo show
What the fuck are you talking about?
Anyway, Gilgamesh's reformation is more implied than directly spoken. Even before Enkidu's appearance he's not completely awful; he gives the correct advice to the hunter who comes to ask him how to deal with the crazy wild man. Gilgamesh's main problem is that he was arrogant, bored, carefree, and thought he was the hottest shit to ever exist. Enkidu's friendship tempers his arrogance, and his death taught him fear, retribution, and the inevitability of his mortality. Even the fucking introduction praises Gilgamesh.
He saw what was secret and revealed what was hidden,
He brought back tidings from before the flood,
From a distant journey came home, weary, at peace,
Engrave all his hardships on a monument of stone,
He built the walls of ramparted Uruk,
The lustrous treasury of hallowed Eanna!
And then other shit I don't want to type up.
I'm not gonna complain about Uruk, and Gilgamesh is 2/3 god and could have blue hair like Lancer for all I care. I just don't care for how his personality is depicted. He's not fucking Rambo.
What is it with Irish people and the whole reversal of fate shit?
Cu has it, Bezett has it, that's like 100% of the Irish people in Fate.
what is the King of Heroes to the King of Kings?

Gil and Enkidu VS Bull of Heaven
>Saber wants to save England from destruction
>England still exists
>This is something she should know
The Welsh are an irrelevant part of the country with no power and resort to fucking sheep, Bongistan imports jihadists and wet curry shits by the truckload. Not to mention the anglo-saxons rule the fucking place. Hardly saved.
So he isn't Gil? Because Gilgamesh by the end of the Epic is a pretty cool and wise dude, which is nothing like the Fate Gil.
Fate Gil is pre Enkidu Gilgamesh, but then again if he was pre Enkidu Gilgamesh it would not make sense for him to hate the gods.
Nasu's alignments are bullshit and everyone should know that by now. Only a very few are actually accurate.
This. He's an arrogant asshole, he doesn't hide it from anyone neither bullshits himself into believing otherwise, and doesn't need to convince anyone because he doesn't give a fuck and just does whatever he wants. Gil enjoys his life to the fullest and is honest with himself. Whether he's a good or bad person little matters if his personality is entertaining to watch.
Go away Shirou, not everyone eats your moral faggotry.
How does Gil's treasury work? Was it all copied into the throne of heroes, despite not really being even associated with him? I can't really see the Grail being able to 100% recreate Ea. Or is he accessing a past version of it?
In the end, his treasury was scattered throughout the lands and other heroes took his weapons, which is why I'm confused.
Am I the only one who can't stand girly Enkidu?
My bad, i should have said "acts like" rather than "is" pre Enkidu Gilgamesh.
The point is that after he met Enkidu he stopped being an asshole, that was the whole point of Enkidu's existance and creation by the gods. He stopped being a tyrant, he stopped fucking peoples waifus he stopped taking the young boys from their families.
I don't like him either. I mean they take alot of liberties with all heroes especially Gil, but for fucks sake Enkidu is a wildman, a beastman, half animal half man.
I hated him at first, but I like him now.
I still prefer pic related in terms of design though.
Indirectly only. The grail was incapable of corrupting him as revealed in the story, however the incarnation it caused was the fault indirectly. Living ten years in the shitty consumerist society of the 90's and 2000's made Gil very mad.
The grail never corrupted Gil.
Sakura says so herself.
It works based on the phrase that he "collected all the treasures of the Earth" or something similar. This was presented as a factual thing in the Epic of Gilgamesh, and not an exaggeration or a metaphor, despite it obviously being one. However, because that is one of the defining identity traits of the hero, "Gilgamesh" Gate of Babylon has a plethora of Noble Phantasms. Almost all of them, with certain exceptions like Excalibur. Possibly because it was not descended from another sword in the Fate universe(I don't know, but he would have something like Mordred's Clarent and he also had Caliburn's original model and another variation: Gram.)
CCC's Launcher(Karna) also has a spear that Gilgamesh doesn't have. He attributes this to there being no record of its use and he tells the Player he wants to obtain it because of that.
Even if there was a Noble Phantasm that is freshly created, it'd be retroactively added to his vault because "history" states "he had it". So I'm not sure why Excalibur and few other Noble Phantasms manage to not exist within Gate of Babylon. It might be because of what I mentioned earlier, or because Excalibur is the crystalized wishes of warriors throughout the ages and not a tool or treasure in the general sense. Gil doesn't have Noble Phantasms that have no physical form(like Reality Marbles and techniques) so it might be something like that.
She is the ancient mythological embodiment of the traits we associate with 3DPD.
Hell, in her descent myth she forces her husband and his sister to take her place in the underworld because of her fuck ups, and carries on with her life like nothing happened. It's no fucking wonder Gilgamesh didn't want to associate with her.
She's cruel and ruins all she loves. To be loved by Ishtar is to bask in momentary luxury and then suffer for the rest of your life.
[You are a brazier that goes out] when it freezes,
A flimsy door that keeps out neither wind nor draught,
A palace [that crushes] a warrior,
A mouse that [gnaws through] its housing,
Tar that [smears] its bearer,
Waterskin that [soaks] its bearer,
Weak stone that undermines a wall,
Battering ram that destroys the wall for an enemy,
Shoe that pinches its wearer!
Which of your lovers [lasted] forever?
Which of your heroes went up [to heaven]?
Gilgamesh burned Ishtar so hard she went crying to daddy.
>So he isn't Gil?
Write it down if you need. Gilgamesh in F/SN was a bit more excitable and reckless because he was incarnated as a human at the time, which made his 1/3rd human blood rise to the top as he was more in line with humans of that age.
Zero Gilgamesh is unincarnated, so you'll see him act far more wise this time around than previously, and less arrogant.
CCC Gilgamesh is basically prime Gilgamesh, as close as you can get to his true self, as he shows more of his kingly and wise side, while still being basically the same AUO at other times. It's noted this is the summoning that agrees with him the most, so his general aptitude is closest to what he was in life. Through CCC he tells stories of his legend in its entirety, he's notably end of his story Gilgamesh.
I thought CCC said that Gilgamesh owned everything that has ever been thought by a human in the past, present and future.
It doesn't even have to exist, as long as a human has thought of it, it's enought.
The exception would be Excalibur, Karna's spear and the like because they were created by other beings (fairies, etc).
>Living ten years in the shitty consumerist society of the 90's and 2000's made Gil very mad.
What made Gil mad the most? End of Evangelion? the Spice Girls? Animal prints being overused as fuck by then?
Come, I call you to account for your lovers:
He who had [jugs of cream] on his shoulders and [...] on his arm,
For Dumuzi, your girlhood lover,
You ordained year after year of weeping.
You fell in love with the brightly colored roller bird,
Then you struck him and broke his wing.
In the woods he sits crying "My-wing!"
You fell in love with the lion, perfect in strength,
Then you dug for him ambush pits, even times seven.
You fell in love with the wild stallion, eager for the fray,
Whip, goad, and lash you ordained for him,
Seven double leagues of galloping you ordained for him,
You ordained that he muddy his water when he drinks,
You ordained perpetual weeping for his mother, divine Silili.
You fell in love with the shepherd, keeper of herds,
Who always set out cakes baked in embers for you,
Slaughtered kids for you every day.
You struck him and turned him into a wolf,
His own shepherd boys harry him off,
And his own hounds snap at his heels!
As for me, now that you've fallen in love with me, you will treat me like them!
Gil has stuff humanity has created, not fairy shit like Excalibur.
But that's not my point, I'm wondering about the logistics of it. His treasury was spread out after his death, so he can't stuff from a hidden treasury on earth that he left behind. If the treasury exists outside of time and is not a copy, then the treasures could have never been spread. If the treasury exists outside of time and is a copy, how can the Grail recreate god shit like Ea?
I don't believe the treasury is copied, as he can permanently lose items (the four NPs he used against Cthulhu in F/Z). So where is the treasury?
>I thought CCC said that Gilgamesh owned everything that has ever been thought by a human in the past, present and future.
>It doesn't even have to exist, as long as a human has thought of it, it's enought.
Don't be stupid, I know there's one guy spreading that misinformation each thread going "I haate what they did to Gilgamesh here, but he's just sooo much more broken. He has literally everything, even things that don't exist, he's practically demonbane".
That's really not what CCC said at all.
>That which Gilgamesh stored, rather than being treasure, is "the origin of the intelligence of mankind" itself. If it does not exist in Gilgamesh's treasury, then it is "something produced by a new breed of humanity, according a completely new concept," "something made from the technology of the culture born from the intelligent life from another heavenly body," one of the two.
>For that reason, of course he has airplanes and submarines. The desires of the people from before Christ are not different, and it would not do for the crafts of ancient times when magic was in good health to be inferior to the crafts of the modern age. People generally realize the "tools of hope" that they dream of, and each time that occurs, it ended with them being confiscated by the king's hand.
It's directly noted "He doesn't have anything handed to humans from a higher body or intelligence, or anything a new breed of humans have created". He has NOTHING from the modern age, but as a cheat Nasu says "Well they had airplanes back then as well, btu they ran on magic".
No, he DOES NOT have things that don't exist or weren't built. They are all things created by human hands only, as he confiscated them each time.
Even if I say all of this people will keep spreading the opposite though.
He basically hated how everyone was an entitled little shit, didn't work hard and were weak.
He even says how he couldn't kill anyone from Uruk, not even slaves, but it's fine to kill a bunch of 2000s humans.
It might have something to do with the retrieval based Noble Phantasm in Gate of Babylon. It retrieves things from the Gate no matter how far they travel.
Or, and this is just a theory, Gate of Babylon is thaumaturgy that transcends space-time to connect to the actual, full treasury somewhere in the past.
It's Nasu who said it's Gilgamesh's humanity that corrupted him.
>Though such is the AUO, being an allied Servant, surely he will someday come to mutual trust with the protagonist and, along with light conversation, unlock his SGs.
>Additionally, because he is not incarnated in Extraverse, he is not affected by the nature of the era’s civilization. In CCC, one may occasionally catch glimpses of the more personal sides of a neutral Gilgamesh from the era of the epic.
>“Fool. As if my affection points would rise.
>I am more indifferent now than I usually am.
>Most of what goes on is none of my business, after all.
>If I were, for example, to become incarnated, my blood as a human would stir
>and my nature would gravitate towards that of the humans of that era---
>however, there is no such alteration here.
>Thus, I shall simply tour SE.RA.PH as I please.
>Some trivial secret like this will do as fare.”
He's literally Gil with a tan.
He was his own Vimana an GoB of beasts instead of swords.
He also calls everyone "peasants".
>He has NOTHING from the modern age, but as a cheat Nasu says "Well they had airplanes back then as well, btu they ran on magic".
So basically if Nasu wants he can just give Gil anything he wants and say "well they had magic [X] back then apparently".
Why don't Gil's projectile noble phantasms have any special effects?
Shouldn't he be able to fire off Excalibur's energy beam or gae bolg's heart pierce effect?
>Or, and this is just a theory, Gate of Babylon is thaumaturgy that transcends space-time to connect to the actual, full treasury somewhere in the past.
This has the issue that if he loses something, it will cause a paradox. I'm not sure how time-manipulating magic works in the setting though.
>It might have something to do with the retrieval based Noble Phantasm in Gate of Babylon. It retrieves things from the Gate no matter how far they travel.
In that case wouldn't it mean gay bulge etc could just disappear from their user's hands? It's a pretty amusing thought.
Basically, don't want to put too many limits on it, but he did put two particular limits on it in CCC. Which explains why he doesn't have Excalibur or Karna's weapon, since they were handed down to humans by something higher.
