On a personal level, maybe, but Madoka had more momentum after playing it's hand earlier. Not to mention a more unique art-style for the witch battles.

People didn't really know where Yuusha was going until recently, possibly to it's credit. Depending on the ending it'll either have amazing payoff or feel like they wasted a lot of time. I think it'll be hard to knock it out of the park in terms of popularity like Madoka did, but it might be a better story in the end.

We've not seen any evidence that they could force them to fight, I could get that maybe the Taisha could turn off their powers what with their complete control over the maintenance of their devices, but not to outright enslave them.

The fairies just seem to look after them, maybe push them on or even act as proxy for the Taisha. It would be more appropriate if the Taisha used the heroes family to ensure compliance then having some plot device just control them. That way you could have some tension as Tougou tries to force some shit gets some information but then the Taisha having told her a bit about what she wants to know could indirectly threaten them back by explaining their families are at risk if they aren't prepared to protect them (and the nation).

I don't believe they can just press a button and the fairy will possess the girls or something. If so, why even leave it to fate in the first place, just have them possess them the moment the Vertex turn up. Not only was this the first time Fuu found out about Itsuki's audition, but it was also the first time she had heard her voice since Itsuki lost it. Additionally, it is also the first the audience got to hear her voice in 4 episodes.

I'm uncertain, I think the Shinju's barrier isn't necessary at least not any more. Maybe originally it was needed to keep the nation safe from a legitimate threat, but now it's 300 years later and the threat is gone.

The problem is how Shinju protects itself. By turning all the normal builds and people into trees and roots any damage inside the barrier translates into disaster in the real world. It's possible that if a Vertex reaches Shinju-sama and damages/destroys it, all the people transformed as destroyed. They just don't know and it seems more likely harm will come about then not because they've seen the damage in the barrier translate into real losses.

So now the problem could be more that Shinju is trying to protect itself from something that doesn't actually threaten people and it's protecting itself by turning everything into it's roots and forcing them to fight for it. Or at least something along those lines.

This. In Madoka it's difficult to get attached to more than two characters, someone liking the whole Holy Quintet equally is something I have yet to see, so various monments of sufferign/deaths are shocking at best, but not emotionally traumatizing.
Yuyuyu has had a slow built up, but it definitely made these lasts chapters really powerful.

Madoka is an MMO where you need to compete for limited resources often with people much stronger than you.

YuYuYu is a MOBA/ASSFAGGOTS where you need to cooperate with people roughly on your level against a common enemy.

Madoka's story-telling structure doesn't really lend itself to getting the audience attached to the cast as a unit since it's more geared toward the lessons Madoka learns from each of the girls and how that shapes up to her final answer. It's like the Sword in the Stone and how Wart's lessons with the animals shapes his ruling style, but we're not expected to get attached to each of the animals.

YuYuYu gives all the girls the same starting time (except Karin) and roughly the same levels (except Karin), so the girls are more involved in each other's stories. Plus they all know each other previously (except Karin) and agree on a set of tenets (except Karin). So there's less dabbling in "I believe things should be like this, because backstory" and "but I believe this other thing, because my backstory". What the hero club is experiencing is new for all of them, so we get to see how each of them react on an even playing field.

So while Madoka was more about "what" a magical girl is, YuYuYu is more about "who" the heroes are, I guess.
