The original raws were 2100 or so, I don't know why they resized it to 1300. It wasn't debinded, though, so the spreads have that shadow. It'd be nice if someone wanted to do the editing for an HQ scanlation.

How do I get into typesetting? What's the typeface people use? It happens fairly often when there's manga posted on /tg/ that it gets scanned and translated pretty quickly but doesn't actually get typeset until like the next day or until someone posts it on /a/ (if it's one that's popular here too, like Good Guy Orc) and I'd like to be able to help with that.

Wild Words mostly. Or Anime Ace. Yes I'm serious. Spend time looking for fancy fonts on some free font site for effects if translator does effects. Try to match the style to what was there. For handwritten text, my personal favorite would be Brianne's Hand, or SF Grunge Sans.

Anyway, just hop right in and do it. People aren't shy about giving feedback when you're making mistakes and it's a good way to learn if you're not sensitive. There's guides you can follow, but really it's pretty self-explanatory. Put the words in the bubbles and make them line up nice. There's a photoshop plugin some people use that looks pretty neat, but I never felt it was necessary.

That a waste of time. You need to automate cleaning as much as you can, then clear all important places with magic wand (set it at 30-60, depending on chapter/volume scans in question), then write and use action (decrease selection on 1 pixel, and level something like 0/1/200, then ctrl+d), and bind on some hotkey. Same for black (level 50/1/255 - usually it's more than enough).
Cleaning with eraser/brush is waste of time, and should be done only if scans really horrible and/or faster methods won't help and/or they destroy too much textures.

Yeah, Comic Blade stopped getting scanned a few months ago. Not sure what happened there. I don't even know of a good place to regularly buy it that doesn't require a proxy.

Typesetting is easy (especially if you don't care much about anything). Cleaning is hard.
1. Download Photoshop CS6 or better. Better get either "portable" version or "extended".
2. Search for "comic fonts" and download as much as you want.
3. Open scan, press M on keyboard, select space around text, and press F2. Do this to all text in all balloons.
4. Press T, select (hold left mouse and pull) space for the size of balloon, and copypaste text. Do this for all balloons.
5. Adjust text so it will look nice (pic related).
6. Save for web in png (16 or more colors).
7. Do the same for other scans.
