Nasu is odd about what he counts in terms of his main heroines/heroes I guess. I mean I'm pretty sure he's made different stories than those four who get represented in the tenth anniversary, yet types like Hakuno or I guess Canaan don't really count here. Though it's not like I don't really understand. Even if it was the twentieth anniversary, if Joan is considered the Heroine of Apocrypha she wouldn't ever be counted as a true heroine like Saber.

Later on somewhere down the line Rin pleases Raiga for money.
Shirou gets eased into the role of being a Yakuza killer.
Shirou wins, the Fujimura clan is more powerful than ever and everyone is happy.

I'm halfways into UBW and so far, can anyone explain why Rin turns into a retard whenever she's around Shirou? She started so good, like "I know what to do, I'm just struggling with the clash between my internal values and the image of a magus I must fit in to succeed my father" and that was perfect, but then when she gets to know Shirou and starts to spend more time with him she turns into shitty generic "I-I'm not doing this because I care about you baka" tsundere. I mean, didn't Archer betrayed her because she spent too much time fucking around with Shirou and let Caster get stronger? Why is she trembling seeing people get hurt at school by Shinji's boundary field when she could handle the other workers (that were also hurt) just perfectly? She goes from a girl that has her shit together and knows what she wants, to a mess of a character that can barely have her priorities sorted out.
Also, you guys lied to me. She hasn't done much to help Shirou with his issues. The date was fine, but she never really touches upon his survivor guilt. She says she doesn't even know what happened to him but doesn't give a shit and tells him to man it up.

They already went through all that in HF. Zouken does demean him, but he treated Sakura like an outsider ever since she arrived and prided himself on being the son of a noble family and "gracefully allowing the common girl" to join the family. He studied hard despite knowing he couldn't use magecraft, and Sakura pitied that he had such high hopes and knows the family was shit, which Shinji has lived in ignorance of. Nothing showing that he was a nicer brother or anything, he was a spoiled cunt as a kid as well. He just became WORSE when he found out he was left ignorant of what really went on in the family. Shirou being his friend was precisely because he was the only guy around who could stand him, and he completely takes advantage if Sakura's kindness.

It's kind of like how people say Sakura whines all the time, but for her situation she barely if ever complains. The problem is not really in the writing, but that people can't accept Shinji is a spoiled kid who was in over his head a long time ago, and made really stupid decisions to deal with his frustrations and shame over being a mugger in a magus family.

It's all there in the narrative, Shinji just doesn't have much justification for what he does. He acts like typical magus nobles do, he just happens to have no powers.
