Oh shit this film is amazing, saw it in the cinema for the like fucking 2 days they showed it. Probably the best film I've seen all year and easily should get the Academy Award for best animated feature.

It was neat. I mainly enjoyed it for the visuals, the story didn't do much for me for some reason.

The Wind Rises, in my opinion, was just mediocre. Sure, it looked good and all that, but it felt like it wasn't nearly as good as it could have been.
But in comparison, I really liked Kaguya-hime, it was surely one of the best anime movies I've seen in a while.

Somebody actually criticizing what is probably the most impressive scene in the whole film. People calling it lazy not realizing that animating this way can take a whole lot more effort than standard Ghibli style. People whining that it isn't typical Ghibli art style.

I've been dying to see this for over a year now.

Animation and art are both top tier.

I liked the The Wind Rises more cause I'm an engineering student and the story spoke to me in more ways then one.
However Kaguya has better art and animation, but you can see for yourself when subs are out

This. It wasn't another run-of-the-mill generic fantasy film by Miyazaki, it was a personal story about dreams and consequences and that everything comes at a price in life and that the greatest achievers make some of the biggest sacrifices to achieve their dream.

The Wind Rises was a mess as far as I was concerned. The airplane and engineering scenes were terrific, but everything about the guy's personal life and the love story seemed stupid and irrelevant BECAUSE MIYAZAKI TOOK THEM FROM AN UNRELATED BOOK.

Imagine if someone did a Terminator reboot but borrowed half the plot from The Traveling Pants.

Saw this in theaters in Tokyo, was really neat. Although advisory: the "really amazing" scene they show in all trailers of Kaguya-hime running into the night is the tiniest segment and kind of overhypes the style of animation you're going to get for the other 99%.
