Anyway, the anime implies that at the point they revert from mankai the sange has already taken effect. When everyone replies to Karin that they're still alive, Itsuki only manages a cough. While they're on the roof, Fuu keeps her left eye closed.
Is the collapse after one mankai now a built-in safeguard to keep heroes from destroying themselves completely in battle?

Because she's emotionally weak and hesitates. But she can't allow herself to do that anymore, because the only reason she's not a living corpse is that someone else has sacrificed for her.

That reminds me...it sucks how, if a hero is "lucky", she can keep fighting for a long time, but if the Sange strikes brain or spine, or one of the internal organs, she's knocked out for good.

They probably did not know it would happen until it happened to Sumi and Sonoko in combat. NOW I am sure they are working on the system- that's why their phones were confiscated right after the fight, to analyze the data on them and make improvements- but did they have enough time to make any really good improvements.
