I wonder how people would seriously deal with a movie where Mayaka explains she was never really interested in Satoshi and always loved Oreki from their childhood (not that she pretended to like Satoshi to get close, or whatever those old fake translations used to say). At least in the books, it's not even a triangle really. It's a story of how Oreki was in love with the idea of Chitanda, and missed Mayaka right in front of him, but then realizes it at the end. I think the main dissappointment is that that Mizuki,Mirai,Hiroomi and Akikko don't have much to their characters other then their gimmicks. Mizuki likes to suck on lolipops, hiroomi is a hardcore siscon, Mirai is socially awkward because a combination of guilt, being hated and feared and bully moe appeal and finally Akikko's nothing but a glasses loving pervert whose sacked with guilt and a crazy man child of a mother. All of their interactions together seemed stall as fuck because it was just a group of people throwing their quirks at each other. How can they expect people to care about these characters when they don't even act like they can stand being around each other half the time? Then there's Sakura. they build her up and eventually she's brought over and she proceeds to do nothing,say little and remain a non factor for the rest of the series. I don't see why they couldn't let her at least keep her fighting abilities considering that she's an anime only character like Ai the cat.

Basically the show had potenical but piss poor characters and even shittier writing made it forgettable. The only good points were the pretty animation, soundtrack and the interesting background to this madness.

Even when I was disappointed with the tv series, somehow i'm still hyped for this. I really hope this shit's good.

Mitsuki is an "oddball" among Spirit World Warriors caused by being a sheltered child. Although she can somewhat fight, she does not hold the belief that all youmu must be slain, as shown by having Yakiimo as a pet.

Hiroomi is an example of a workaholic who held on to sibling love as a defense mechanism to keep himself from losing his sanity. It's rather obvious that he does not like the heavy responsibilities he has (he fucking shouted at his grandfather at the end), and he's desperate for ways to unwind.

Akihito's a different guy in the past. He doesn't want to get along with anyone and he only saw others as a potential victim or a potential murderer.

That was the point though! We find out that Mitsuki and Hiromi were not Akkeys friends, but only there to monitor and observe the KnK which he possessed.
This in turn made Mirai and Akkeys character development all the more better, as they were the only ones who were genuine friends (even if she did try to kill him; Mirai's sacrifice showed how far they'd come)

For all its faults, Tamako was a stronger TV show. Nothing amazing, but it served as a better base for them to make the movie from. If they twist the plot of the first movie to set up for something more interesting in movie 2, maybe they could do something great.

It's been the general assumption on /a/ for ages. Mostly because Ordet did the Lucky Star spin-off; Yamakan not having much else to do; Kyoani (until now) being fully booked and primarily focused on in-house productions.

My sister watched it and loved it to death. Maybe it was really meant for girls.

Only idiots on /a/ get tripped up over things like muh monogatari and "can't decide between serious and comedy" (when bake was the exact same thing).

The animation was great and so was the idol dance.

Yeah, I don't really think it's particularly bad. If you ignore that Mirai lives, it's a pretty solid story with 10/10 animation. It's just unfortunate that there were so many characters for no reason.
