Using a Crunchyroll subscription to "support" the japanese anime industry is like mailing a few pennies every year to Japan (every month if you want to be super generous about what Crunchyroll pays). You pay more in "postage" than actual money sent.
Buying 1 BD from a series you like (not the localized BDs, the ones offered by the japanese publishers) will inject more money into the japanese anime industry than years of Crunchyroll subcription will.

The manga subscriptions are different due to the lower costs but buying the physical japanese copy will still give more money to the authors than the subscription will.
