This is probably a troll thread, but in all honesty Tatami was fucking amazing, and nothing in the last 4 years has really managed to come close to its start-to-finish sublime quality, creative and beautiful art style, and a story that genuinely hooks the viewer.

We may get something better eventually, but gems like TG are few and fucking far between.

I really only enjoyed about half of TG. The set of episodes with the 3 different girls, the ending, and one or two of the club episodes were good. the rest was boring. The formula for all of the club episodes going:

Monogatari as a series has entertaining characters and dialogue, but really that's just the face of the series. It's real strength lies in the excellent usage of subtext, foreshadowing, and underlying themes. It effectively has two stories in tandem; one where you watch the comedic shenanigans of Araragi, and another more serious plot full of personal and moral conflict that is not immediately obvious. This goes for Araragi (and most of the cast, really) as well, who is much more than just some perverted jokester. Frankly, the writing is just on a different level.

The downside to Monogatari's style of writing that it's difficult to translate into anime, and you get idiots like >>117334615 >>117334652 who miss the point of the series entirely.
