Probably. I don't even have that much and I've still got this much.
What's with all those fucking networks?
I had to delete/move a bunch of shit to make space, so I only have 56.2GB right now. Though there are a couple of things sitting in my torrents folder that I haven't moved into the animu folder yet.
>to make space
Are those local or remote servers?
Asking because if those are remote linux servers, I'd like to know how you managed to display them under Network instead of having to mount them as network drives.
I'm trying with a VPN connection + nmbd but no luck so far...
I'm not to bothered by that and have to rename it to ORION 1 just to make them line up perfectly alphabetically, if people are bothered by it I should just leave it as it is to make people bothered even more.
>I'm never going to watch again
What? Pretty sure people rewatch everything here?
I just done rewatching all old macross series and Gundam Age.
I forgot to say it's possible to place remote server on network, I just forgot how to make that happen.
I actually deleted my all lewd folders just recently after I realized I was spending more time managing files than fapping. That's a million less things I have to worry about now.
I know I'm underachieving and that I have bad taste.
My level and i don't think i have that much either
>hiding your shit taste
Grow some stones.
>tfw my only hard drive is a single dying 320GB(296GiB) drive
I mean, I have a three year old 2TB external sitting in a box that's never been used, but I want to do something with partitioning maybe a fourth of it to be backup, and the other three fourths to be general use. But I don't know how to do that.
>But I don't know how to do that.
Why is it so hard to search for answers on the freaking Internet?
Every time i don't know how to do something, i get the answer or a tutorial in less than 30 sec.
No, I want a partition of 500GB to be a backup for the 320GB hard drive on my laptop, and use the remaining 1.5TB as regular storage space. I might not even need to partition it.
It's not the partitioning that's the issue, it's that I don't know the correct/best way to have it automatically back up my laptop's hard drive when I plug the external drive in. I know there's stuff like CrashPlan or Clonezilla out there, but I'm not in the mood right now to go looking for which software delivers exactly what I want. I know that I used to have a 1TB external from WD that came with some nice autobackup software, but I haven't really though of if it only works with that specific external or if it would work otherwise. Maybe my experience with the WD software is a Plato's Cave thing in which I don't know how bad it actually is. I do know that I'm not going to be paying money to for an autobackup solution.
It's not that I don't know what to do, it's that I don't know the right way to do it. Like I said, I don't even know if I should have separate partitions for the backup and general storage.
Hurfderf spoonfeeding whatever, try;
http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/ , DSynchronize.
There isn't really much point creating a partition purely just for the backup.
Why is it so low here http://alternativeto.net/software/dsynchronize/ ?
Is it just that your average everyday person doesn't know about it?
Actually, what is so good about DSynchronize over its alternatives anyway? Is it just that it's simple and gets the job done, or is it that it's more customizable, or what?
Why would you keep anime around after you are done watching it?
It's not like saving the best of best animated (or not) hentais you find to fap at some other time when you have no new shit to fap to.
You keep old animu or anime that you already done watching for fodder of image reaction, this has been a culture for /a/, example Gundam Zeta "I came here to laugh at you", another example "Are you frustated?" from LoGH and "Kuyashii" from Kaiji. If tyou don't know this ypu probably even newer than newfags from year of 2012.
Mine, I actually need to sort through it and make sure there are no duplicates as I never have my three externals plugged in together usually.
It's a program I recommended to someone because it doesn't have any bullshit and they seemed to think it was good, so I'm just mentioning it again within a similar context.
>Calling image reaction as maymays
Get out from 4chan, you are on wrong board, this place is image board, not text board.
Are you telling me you streaming? I hope you don't get banned.
Oh boy, is this the 'brag about your shit taste' thread?
What the fuck does streaming have to do with anything?
You download a complete anime series, you watch it and take whatever screencaps you want, if you want and then delete it since it serves no purpose and it takes up a bit of space. How is that so hard?
>all those shiny 3d effects
Jesus Christ where do I even begin
O shit this thread did stuff while I was playing gay video games.
Varies from poor to terrible.
Also note: "The niggest".
We niggas now.
>different seasons in different root folders
>toradora and code GEASS
nevermind, u mah nigga too
Watched Code GEASS like 6 times. I rarely watch new stuff.
>You're just adding unnecessary information for the brain to process
Which makes absolutely no fucking difference whatsoever, unless you have the brainpower of a goldfish.
I can't tell if you're just being deliberately obtuse or a retard right now.
You're on the right track, keep at it. I've seen hundreds of anime and still keep rec macros around. When I actually cross every anime off it's going to be a sad fucking day. Though I might just read a bunch of manga, of which I've read little.
Skip SnK, read the manga.
KnK (anime) iis shit, skip.
Chuunibyou is cute but only watch S1. S2 is terrible.
Claymore is meh so skip.
Danganronpa is terrible. Play the games or simply skip entirely.
Danna is a few minutes long so it's okay.
Elfen lied is shit but watch it in dub to have your ears bleed.
Watch all Evangelion.
FLCL is okay.
Girl and Panzer is good so watch
Kokkuri san is one of the best this season so watch it.
Interstella 5555 is pretty decent.
Valvrare is a trainwreck but only watch S1 where it's more fun. You missed the threads.
KnK movies are shit so skip
KlK is shit so skip
KissXsis is okay but meh so skip.
KnJ is good but the manga is better so go for the manga.
K-On is fun, so watch it.
Lucky Star is the same. Don't stop at ep 1-3 faggot.
Little Witch is okay but not insane.
Madoka is meh but everyone praises it and knows it so you have to watch it.
Nichijou is decent.
Twintail is a great satire of Sentai so watch it if you love power rangers.
Read or Die is pretty good.
Rail Wars is shit so skip.
Rosario Vampire is shit so skip.
Samurai Champloo is okay and dub is decent so whatever.
Baamut is decent.
Harlock (assuming it's the movie) is shit even if you're a leiji fan.
Spice and Wolf is good.
SAO is shit so skip.
Aku no Hana is meh and so is the manga.
Haruhi is fun.
Love Ru is fun.
Welcome to NHK is good.
Yuri Yuri is fun.
And that's most of them anyways.
>What reason could one do something like that to how their folders look, other than to show it to others?
Did you ever consider the fact that perhaps, *I* like how it looks?
and so am I
Luckily this is only 2/3 of all my anime.
Having a gigabit connection is nice.
Nice objective reasoning.
I don't think this conversation is going anywhere, anon-kun.
I thought everyone on this board did that.
I used to have a Mio too, but that hard drive gave up on me unfortunately.
Angel Beat (meh but some parts are good, 1 ost is great and op is good)
Azumanga daioh is funny
Code Geass for stupidity fun in R1, shit in R2 but good ending.
Darker than Black S1 is okay
Hidamari Sketch is okay depending on your SoL intake.
K-On is fun.
LWA is okay
Nichijou is decent but jokes fall flat, still worth watch for the animation.
Panty & Stocking is fun (dub is decent but misses the punch)
Madoka is alright not great.
Seitokai Yakuindomo is fun.
Steins;Gate is shit but people like it so meh.
Same with Toradora. Best anime romance whatever.
Watamote is good but cringy as fuck. A lot more than the manga.
Yuru Yuri is fun.
Yuyushiki is fun.
Honorable mention is to watch Ika Musume for that one sad episode.
The rest is a poor copy cat attempt of Yotsuba.
''Make your own opinion'' doesn't make it less shit.
The only good thing out of it was the idol episode.
And even then, you can just watch that on youtube and skip the anime entirely.
Mirai Nikki is shit.
Alright premise (Battle Royale with future insight on your phone) turned to fucking shit.
Yuru Yuri and SKYD depend on your intake of it.
I don't blame you that you dropped it.
>Oh, you meant Kyoukai no Kanata, not Kara no Kyoukai. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
There are two KnK(s)
KnK anime and KnK movies.
The former being from Kyoani and the later being by Ufotable.
Despite the misunderstand, the sentiment is the same.
Kara no Kyoukai is shit.
The only slight exception is movie 5 but it's still terrible. Everything else is beyond terrible.
Good animation and music does not make for a lackluster plot and characters.
Just archive anything worthwhile, it is not like most of us will finish our backlog in our lifetime, much less re-watch every single shitty "harem of the season".
I like how /a/ become prejudiced over nationality and language today.
It's a good thing as to prevent shit subtitle using any language other than English.
>I like how /a/ become prejudiced over nationality and language today.
>It's a good thing as to prevent shit subtitle using any language other than English.
I'm sorry, I couldn't understand any of that. ESL pls go and stay go.
I live in 3rd world country yet have all this server and hard drive, what is first worlder excuse now?
Stuff that's currently sitting around. I should purge seasonal stuff I don't want to keep and replace seasonal stuff I do want to keep with BDs (if available) sometime in the near future.
I hope that isn't the dub.
Why the fuck is it so big? You have less than 30 series there, many of which are only a few cours (no counting Pokemon). Are you downloading in 1080p? Why do people download in 1080p? Isn't 720 enough?
I also named my anime folder after a Keion and my waifu.
I have wanted to do this for a while but I am not sure where to search. First of all do you use RAID, and what level? I think I would go for 6. Secondly, how much does this cost and how do you set it up? Did you purchase servers or build them yourself?
You win this time
I don't know, everytime I got paycheck I buy new CPU or hard drive either SSD or hybrid for my old CPU. Probably $700-$2500 per month.
>Buy server or build them yourself
Build them myself.
Server.(I also seed and handle upload/mirror request for anime and many kind of hentai game)
Ah Also, I place them on several room, so I can go access my Computer(Internet) ASAP.
I close the bag as tightest as possible (with a laundry clip) before putting it in, without considering that it's either not going to fit the box or look like a bitch.
You underestimate the idiocy in this anon, anon.
>K-On is fun.
I've seen this twice in this thread alone. This is just sad.
the Big O is great, especially the music.
I don't download everything i watch since iv committed the cardinal sin of getting crunchyroll but i could probably do with watching more.
>all these newfriends
>300 GB is a lot of anime
I swear to god these retards need to lurk moar.
There should be some sort of limit where if you've seen under 200 shows you cannot post.
757GB of shit taste.
Am I the only one who has a HTPC?
I'm using XBMC for the front end.
background changes to a random anime image.
Also have two 2TB and one 3TB drives as backup.
>not having backups
Backups, nigga. Backups.
Cutie Honey is Magical Girl?
Is there anything Nagai didn't pioneer?
If I knew what torrenting was before starting anime, I would have more than 1tb
Complain on the internet and post disgusted reaction images. What else can I do?
The very least you could do is censor your posts for /v/shit.
It took a little while to get it sorted out. XBMC has its quirks and once you figure them out it's not hard.
Reorganize and rename anime. Folders should be Media->Anime->Lain and files should be Lain ep01 or for multiple season s1ep01. Programs can help you do this.
Next is using "scrapers" that will get all the art and metadata. I use the AniDB for almost all my anime except for anime that has multiple seasons, then I use the TVDB.
Last is choose a skin (I am using Aeon Nox skin 4.0.9) and tweak the fuck out of it till you are happy.
Yeah XBMC is on android and i think iOS too.
You can even use your cellphone or tablet to control your XBMC setup. I have an older usb IR remote that works (I used another program called EventGhost to make button macros)
XBMC with the Aeon Nox skin 4.0.9
I don't feel like plugging in my external to SS of my archived stuff, but this is my 300GB backlog.
>inb4 get off /a/ and watch "X" already
and this is most of the the shows I watched this year.
>not capitalizing sentences
suck some dick because black friday is almost here
It falls apart when you want to add lesser-known series or films where there's no data to grab. Then it becomes a nightmare trying to set it up yourself or you just give up like I did.
It looks pretty but it's not functional, and it can't do MadVR.
>darker than edge
mainstream shit /10 also your bright pink shit is really hard on my eyes.
>all of that
>not mainstream shit
>implying people want to see lesbian stuff or shows about crossdressers
shit's niche, son.
it's not even in the top 750 most popular anime.
it's ranked 90. That's pretty fucking popular, and therefore mainstream.
Speaking of Mushishi, which of these two look better?
I can't tell if one is muddy and the other one is good, or if one is good and the other one is washed out.
>Guns und Panzer
>Ghost in the Shell
>Thinks he has any right to criticize people for watching mainstream anime
I stopped giving a fuck when this season began.
My roommate calls is hoarding. I don't see the point in deleting any really
I believe you CAN do madVR but it will require some DIY to get it working. In my case im about 12-14 feet away so any madvr stuff would be pointless.
As far as metadata it took a while to figure out the quirks of XBMC and the scrapers. Could you give me an example of an obscure show?
Also you can make NFO's to make your own entries, i've tried it and it sort of worked.
I'm doing pretty well. I've watched almost 300 anime, not counting the current season or hentai anime - and I only started watching anime in 2008.
>all these default windows themes
Learn to rice, faggots.
Some color schemes can be easier on the eyes. I find that after hours of staring at a computer screen, the scrollbar at the right of all the windows just blends into a single light gray blur.
I'm trying. I didn't used to watch as many series each season as I do now. For instance, back when I was starting out, I'd barely watch 5-10 current shows, and maybe watch twice as many older shows each season. Right now, I've got 30 shows in my current anime folder.
Zero no Tsukaima
Watch it now, all of it and enjoy it before /a/ gets into you and you start not enjoying stuff.
I just want to cum all over her face.
All of those belong in the gay animu for fags folder
It's not like files you store on NAS aren't on HDDs anyway. Just backup and you won't make my mistake.
That's why you keep a copy on multiple drives. All of my anime, including my backlog and my downloads folder, are all on at least two drives, and when a hard drive starts making noises, I replace it.
The Greens are notoriously unreliable. Google it. I've got one that I'm using for backups only, and it's supposed to be fine if you don't access it too frequently, but I'm thinking I should unplug it and put it in an external enclosure just to be sure it's not spinning up/down on its own.
>tfw used to be a massive download fag but realized i just ended up downloading large amounts of anime i never watched
>have very little time now to screw around so i just end up streaming all my anime off of kissanime
i must be /a/'s worst enemy now.
Here's a dated image for you.
Not much, but it's something. I need new HDDs. I have 3 3tbs with 100gb left between them (Local server for all the houses shit)
You fucking cheapass nigger.
This isn't 2004. A 3 TB hard drive is about $100, and that's the normal price. If you shop on Black Friday and Tech Monday, you should find even better deals.
I'm not sure there's a difference.
>What do you mean by production run?
Hardware is manufactured in batches. Some batches are made better than others. Hence people shelling money for CPU's and GPU's from certain bins (batches). Certain bins are known to overclock really well, while some cannot overclock for shit. The same is true about HDD's. Some are great, some are poor. Though people usually care less about hdd bin numbers.
>Though people usually care less about hdd bin numbers.
That's because you may never know just how bad a certain batch was until 1-2 years too late when you've already bought it.
i understand entirely that the physical file is superior to streaming; i'm not arguing that point here. i think streaming for me works out to be preferable; 1080p streaming, while not as good as having the 1080p file, works fine with my schedule.
i just finished watching mononoke and now i'm watching revolutionary girl utena. i'd say that i'm a pleb.
Of course. I'm not saying they are in the right for not caring. How would one test the quality of an HDD anyway? Read/write tests? Would that lend any information towards the longevity of it?
How would you go about acquiring HDDs from certain bins? Is there some sort of indication and how do you know which bins have better quality?
Hmm, NHK is one. You can't find a better release anywhere else. Older stuff too. And music/OPs/soundtrack collections/artbooks/drama CDs. Nyaa may have them but they are rarely seeded. Also check out this massive list:
>NHK is one
I'm not saying your whole post is wrong, I agree with you. But your example is wrong. http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/4358781/%5BOyasumi%5D_NHK_ni_Youkoso______Welcome_to_the_NHK__
You know what, scratch that.
>It's an ISO
That means it's unencoded, right? Just direct from the disc? You'd need to burn it to a disc or use something like Virtual CloneDrive to watch it, right? Or can MPC-HC play iso files directly?
An ISO is a disk image. You will need to mount it in a virtual drive like Alcohol 120%, and then you can "play" the DVD's videos from the menus as if you were playing it in a DVD player.
>An ISO image is an archive file of an optical disc, a type of disk image composed of the data contents from every written sector on an optical disc, including the optical disc file system.
Shit, I don't know. Why do you think every sentence in that post was a question?
>or use something like Virtual CloneDrive to watch it
Looking it up, Alcohol 120% seems like the same basic thing.
The basic idea is that you're not going to play a DVD ISO file in MPC-HC. You need to "mount" the file in a program that emulates a disk drive, where it behaves like a DVD disk would behave if any of us still used optical drives anymore.
This is Oyasumi vs Exiled-Destiny with just using printscreen on my 1600x900 monitor, in MPC-HC with how I've set up MadVR (which admittedly isn't the best setup, because my laptop's graphics are shit and I don't know how to properly work MadVR even after all this time fiddling with it).
I delete all the anime i watch and only keep the episodes i like, and the openings and the endings i like
kept this episode
>and only keep the episodes i like,
>and the openings and the endings i like
Low quality bait.
Well I know that "it" as in the Oyasumi release that's out there and widely used is a hardsub, but was there ever any instance of the subs that Oyasumi used being put into a standalone file for use in softsubs?
J-Judge me you fags.
I had more in an external HD but it broke.
I delete the anime I watch every season since my toaster doesn't have enough room for more then one.
Searching around, it's surprising how much stuff there is on things like kickass torrents and piratebay, or maybe it just seems like there's a lot out there since I'm just to using nyaa, bakabt, and occasionally searching out the subber's site itself.
I really have to go and organise it
>gay animu for fags folder
>K-On, Brilliant Park, Madoka are not in it.
This drive has been disconnected for a couple years. Hooked it up a couple weeks ago to rewatch GTO.
If I were to set out a plan to from zero (never seeding at all to the point of setting up my torrent client to never upload data ever) to U2, how would I do it? Something like get a good ratio on a public thing like bakabt, then do the same on AB, then more, or what?
What does U2 stand for anyway?
From what I hear, the best route is to have an account at AB, and a high-ranking one at ADC (the AB account can be used to justify why you want in at ADC on your application). Since it's a Chinese tracker, hanging around QQ chat rooms is probably a good way to get in. I would also stay in the ADC IRC rooms for a while and meet some people.
just started downloading shit about a week ago, I usually try and get only 1080p and what not, got a few shows dling at the moment, and yeah it's all entry level shit I guess though I'm trying to expand my taste, but i really don't know were to even start
Never ever download 1080p for TV rips. They're always upscales. Most anime aren't 1080p. If you're watching 1080p anime, you're most likely watching anime that has been mastered at 540p or 720p and upscaled to 1080p, even for some BDs. It's only in rare instances (like movies, Nyaruko W, etc) that it's actually mastered in 1080p.
Honestly most 1080p is not usually worth it. UNLESS FOR SURE IT'S A BLUERAY (BD) RIP. For the most part even BD's are still encoded in 720 and then upscaled. Anime movies are usually exempt from this.
TL;DR Most of your TV anime should be 720p bluray. If you sit far enough you really can't notice the difference in quality.
>I'm trying to expand my taste,
I know people on /a/ say this all the time "try things out and see what your tastes are," but the truth is that you should already know what you like. This probably won't change too much until something about yourself changes, as with anything. What you want to do with anime is find out what kinds of anime suit the tastes that you already have.
For example, if you like romance in Western media, you may find that romance in anime is entirely unacceptable. Or if you like shoot-em-ups in Western media, you may find that you like mecha anime, even though there is no equivalent to mecha in Western media (also no true analogue to Western shoot-em-ups in anime).
Keep in mind that some old shows, like the Eva TV series that you just downloaded, only come in DVD (480p). There's even some shitcases where the DVD is the best source for the show even if BDs exist because of NIPPON upscaling. This is really depends show to show, but quite a few shows in the late 1990s~2008 era have this problem.
This is their e-penis. Redditors have MAL accounts to fill that role, /a/utists here think that have terabytes of anime is somehow impressive and they also mistakenly believe that people give a fuck about it.
If you're watching in fullscreen, your media player and video card are upscaling the content to your screen's resolution anyway. Your argument is only meaningful if you're watching anime in windowed mode at its native resolution, which most people aren't. I'd rather have someone who knows what they're doing take the time to upscale and fix major problems than just let MadVR and MPC do whatever they want on the fly.
>trying to expand my taste
Here's a tip from how I've been recently organizing my backlog
Have a designated "backlog" or some other name folder (mine's "future") for this. Any time you think that you might be interested in an anime (or other forms of media), do one of two things. One, find and download the best torrent file (the actual *.torrent) and put it in that folder. Alternatively, you could just make a folder with the thing you think you might want to watch on it in the folder name.
I organize the torrent files by renaming the torrent to the size of the download and the name of what it contains. I also have folders using the same format that contain multiple torrent files, or they contain torrent files and a couple other episodes (e.g. the Gen'ei folder contains three torrent files and three episodes which allow me to just use the full torrent files to download Final8's 1-10 and Underwater's 14, but I don't need a batch torrent because I already have 11-13 downloaded.
Some of these folders, like Spirited Away, contain multiple versions of the same thing whose total filesize adds up to the value on the folder. When I download it, I will download both versions and then delete the "bad" one, which I will only know after having downloaded both.
Another example is that the Fullmetal Alchemist folder contains torrent files for both seasons and both movies, but I already have the little side story/omake videos downloaded.
I'm currently downloading just episode one of different versions of Sora no Woto to be able to determine which version is the best, after which, I will delete all versions' videos and keep only the torrent file for use later. This is why I don't have a filesize on this folder.
I don't have a filesize on Gatchaman Crowds, because I am going to do the same process that I am currently doing for Sora no Woto to it.
For Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, I have yet to look for torrent files, and the folder is there as a reminder of that
Too bad that most 1080p out there that aren't from BDs are Crunchyroll rips, and that sure as shit isn't from "someone who knows what they're doing". It's a streamrip in fact.
If you're watching a 1080p from crunchyroll you're doing it wrong. They use almost the same bitrate for 1080p and 720p, so the 1080p looks worse.
For BD rips, it's worth it to get 1080p. With 720p, you end up with MPC trying to upscale an upscale. That's guaranteed to be eye cancer.
I have 30 gigs left on my 2tb external and I don't know how to deal. I've already deleted all the shit that I can.
If I were to get another drive how the fuck would I sort shit? The idea of having to split all my chinese cartoons on two drives sounds like a nightmare to me.
Just my 2cents
Also if you see any spelling errors or shows I'm missing toss em out.
Also before you ask, Pluto is a external.
