Honto's packing is pretty good. My orders usually come in a box with some sheets of foam shit for padding, with smaller pieces of it rolled up to fill the spaces caused by the different sizes in books.
Also, I can't remember for sure, but I think I had one small order of 3 manga volumes that came in one of those plastic shipping bag/envelope things, but with the same kind of packing material inside, so they arrived without any damage. But most of the time I order 8-10 volumes at a time, and those always come in a box.

Remember that they have seen apartments far, far worse and they don't care about your personal belongings. They've gone through hoarders' rooms and white trash rooms and people with truly bizarre fetishes and hobbies. Unless you have a collection of dongs hanging from the ceiling that will smack the inspector in the face the moment he walks in, he won't remember anything about your room or you. Inspection is his job and I assume the apartment will be in bigger trouble if they are unable to properly inspect all rooms for maintenance.

I'll shine some light on this for you, I manage my parent's properties for them as my rent to them ironically enough.

I NEVER go through any of my tenant's personal rooms, I couldn't give less of a fuck. I take a glance, if all 4 walls and the ceiling are intact, I move on. When landlords say they're there to check air filters/heater/appliances, they really do mean it.

Depending on where you live, Landlords have a right to do a full inspection, regardless of your presence, at least once a year, with 24 hours notice. I personally do inspections only when I need to enter the place anyways, like preparing the HVAC for winter.

As long as you pay rent on time, don't damage anything, and don't introduce safety hazards, nobody gives half a fuck.
