I always found Summoned Skull cooler and better than the Dark Magician.
Nice monster OP, mind if I return him to your deck and leave you exposed?
Too bad OP, this card is COOLer than your edgy monster.
Original art Red-Eyes is such a cool card.
>At least you got some variety now
really ? Tried to get back on Yu-Gi-Oh around one year ago, everyone had the same fucking XYZ deck that summoned some 2500+ attack monster in one turn.
So fucking boring I quit after one week.
how is this even remotely useful
Fuck yea, same with the original Dark Mag.
I never had one as a kid, so when I got one in July from a 25c card gambler machine, I've been keeping it in my wallet ever since.
I also had the chance to get a REBD, but nope, chose the faggot pegasus starter deck like a fucking hipster, meanwhile I had no idea how that stupid ritual monster worked, just thought it was cool.
normal summon this then rank 10 xyz
I have an entire Yu-Gi-Oh deck right next to me who is Dark and Magician-themed. I never got to test it but I like it and keep it in my room.
Ask the Arc V (avoid /dng/) general for tips on getting back into the game, get ygoPro/Devpro and play there until you get the hang of it.
Alternatively, watch this shit
And get schooled.
That's the time I started playing again. I picked it back up because
I played up until earlier this year and it has been the same shit. The meta game changes, sure. But it's just a blatant power creep with complete disregard to old archetypes and little improvement to game mechanics
The game is so heavily based on limited player interaction that it's possibly one of the worst games I've ever had the misfortune of playing.
It was so bad.
Even back then before GX, I thought it was bullshit Joey was stuck with such a signature card.
Did Joey ever fuse it to make this?
Look at all those summons....
Back then in my day, we have 3 judgement
Out of my way, superior defense coming through.
xyz made dark magician relevant again
Made a deck based around him, really hard to pull off with the current meta but fun when you do.
Keith didn't even attack with it, so it's effect and attack are probably the same thing. The text literally just says "Attach to an enemy's monster and explode in 1 turn" and the damage would be the difference between Blast Sphere's and the equipped monster like a normal battle. The real life effect is better in most situations.
MTG is fair, everyone has the opportunity to play those "unfair" cards
You can make flavorful decks without worrying about being crushed by meta game
It's as casual/competitive as you make it
I'd hardly call magic broken, but fair seems like a more appropriate term
>This was considered good card design
I know a lot of you guys like Summoned Skull (as do I) but the game was not immediately better back then. In fact, back in those days, the first person to get Summoned Skull out on the field pretty much won. Double so if they had this fucker on it.
Unless the opponent had Man-Eater Bug. Yeah, those were the only cards you needed to be OP. 3 Summoned Skull and 3 Man-Eater Bug. What shit
Anime Elemental Heroes were shit
Manga Heroes were way better in art and effects
Check out his baby
stack 2 (or more) monsters with the same level on top of each to special summon a xyz (black card) monster from your extra deck of the same rank (they don't count as levels, unaffected by gravity bind, etc)
the cards used to summon it become xyz material which are usually removed to activate effects
>get two monster of the same level out in the field
>select an XYZ monster whose rank is equal to the level of the monsters you're gonna use as XYZ materials from your extra deck and put it on top of those two monsters
You slap monsters with the same levels over each other to slap a glorious black card over them; this is called overlay/xyz summon.
You use glorious black effects by removing a card under from the xyz monster.
Pretty much. If you look at the top deck lists from the first few years of YGO, it's mostly the same shit.
Get the number of same level monsters that are listed on the card. Stack the monsters and place the Xyz monster on top. Send cards underneath to the graveyard to activate effect.
Used him and Jinzo so much.
Removing XYZ materials is a cost to activate an effect. The minster doesn't die if it runs out of materials (unless it's effect states so), you just won't be able to use it's effect again until you find a way to attach new XYZ material to it.
>And does the XYZ Summon get removed if the cards beneath it are gone?
No, but some Xyz monsters do have that. Pic related.
It's not broken just because you don't know how to play anon
>And does the XYZ Summon get removed if the cards beneath it are gone?
No but if the Xyz itself leaves the field, its overlay materials go to the graveyard.
>Or are they only there so you can active its effect only two times?
Some Xyz require 3 or more monsters too, and their effects might even require you to remove 2 Xyz material or ALL materials.
That said there aresupport cards to counteract this limitation on Xyz effects.
>The new art is shit, also, it's trying too hard to be Magic
That's like one card man.
I did like how grotesque and full of fantasy and occult DM was. Even the style of Machine monsters was pretty different.
>tfw first waifu and I didn't even know
XYZ monsters you mean? No, they are treated as monsters, the XYZ materials (the cards beneath) are only used as costs if there is a card that states 'detach 1 XYZ material...' to use their effect. If they lose their XYZ materials, they still stay on the field.
Another thing is, if you flip an XYZ monster face-down, they don't lose their XYZ materials because they are not treated as equip spells. They only leave if the XYZ monster leaves the field as well, which means you send those XYZ materials to the graveyard if that happens.
>all these new rules make the old cards pretty much worthless?
No, it's all nostalgiafag talk, in fact, they recently unbanned Raigeiki, a card that had been stuck in the forbidden list since 2004.
Not only that, but fusions are also more relevant than ever, rituals are tier 1 and pendulum is trying to bring back advanced summoning (tribute summoning).
xyz makes some cards more relevant than before. It all depends what.
also xyz can go in any deck because it's so flexible. Fusion deck, ritual deck, synchro deck? No problem, just have at least 2 xyz essentials in each deck and you're good
Gustos have the best art
Gustos have the best waifus
Gustos are the best
Back in the day when YuGiOh had just gotten to the Egyptian God Cards I had a deck that was insanely unbeatable. I don't remember what specific cards I had just that I destroyed everybody. I wish I had kept that deck.
It got to the point that I let kids do anything they could try to beat me. Play with 60 cards, or just their best cards, one kid had some fake Chinese God Cards, I let him play with them and still best him. Later on, our school was playing out rival for some basketball championships, their best YuGiOh player came up to me and challenged me to a duel.
Man I'll never feel that cool again. We were outside of the gym and I had like 15 kids there behind me, half of them weren't even my friends and so did he and I fucking best him and we all started screaming. Eventually a teacher came and we lost the basketball champs but it was so cool.
Too bad, I've tried to get into the new games but couldn't. Sure, early YGO and Pokemon could be broken, I mean everyone was running those decks with Scyther and Co back in the day for pokemon, but the newer stuff just doesn't have it. Probably because I'm not a kid anymore
