>Hey look at me i am a shitty VN MC in a shitty "meta" show i don't have shit going for me but all these girls love me and i still choose the shittiest fucking shit tier red instead of all the rest.
I don't understand. How is 3 minutes of a girl screaming about anime conventions and tropes a good idea.
I was laughing the entire time, but maybe its because I don't know the set-up.
Um......to show her the ways of Chunni so she understands Andou?
The way that she lists off all of the various things that he's said shows that she honestly cares. I don't believe your interpretation is completely correct, she wants to understand and enjoy it with him, but he won't explain it and brush it off as you won't care/understand.
This is literally the most boring and mundane things i have ever watched and aria is one of my favorite anime
>Made an effort
Yet, she still didn't really care for those things. Remember when he said he'd always go and talk to her first about what he though was 'cool'. Yeah, imagine that everyday of her life for years on end.
Yeah, I'd get sick of that shit too after awhile.
is she going to participate in the battle? Christ i hope so
I don't get it, OP.
I've never seen this show, but from this webm, it seems like the girl just wants to be able to have a conversation with this guy and not have it be about edgy western stuff she doesn't understand.
What's so bad about that?
Shit, man, are you telling me most people don't get why Hatoko's mad?
She listened all this time to the stuff that Andou likes, but, as >>117094060 says, it was because it was Andou saying it, not because of the things he was saying. However, it's not quite that she's "putting up with it." Listen to what she's saying: she's mad at Andou because he only gives half-baked explanations. He's so absorbed into his own fantasy world and is always making it up as he goes along, so it becomes impossible for people like her to follow. She wants to understand, because that means entering into the world that really only Andou knows, but he can't explain it properly, so he's basically locking her out. "You wouldn't understand" is that put verbally.
Why Tomoyo can connect with Andou on his chuuni level is because she's doing it in a completely different way. While Hatoko is still trying to get at the level of understanding, Tomoyo, being a chuuni herself, is on the level of collaboration--which, actually, doesn't require understanding. The thing about being a chuuni is that you can easily incorporate the stories of other people in your own because your narrative was already internally incoherent and you were making it up as you go along anyway. Collaboration becomes possible without needing to link it up with everything, so Tomoyo can have fun with Andou in that way while Tomoyo can't keep up.
Hatoko put it best. She can't understand. It's like they're talking in mutually unintelligible languages.
>Shit, man, are you telling me most people don't get why Hatoko's mad?
Do you even women?
She's just jealous that another girl is bonding with him around the hobby she doesn't understand, but instead of adressing this, she attacks the hobby itself.
If you only watched the first episode, how can you tell it's forced drama?
Every episode has some sort of dramatic outcome for a while now. It helps the character developments and the reasons he's so liked by the harem. I say, it's a really good anime, probably not AOTS, but pretty good.
Yeah, but that's just dishonest. She attacks the chuuni beacuse it IS easy to attack, instead of being clear. It's obvious that, if she really was bothered by it she would have fucked off years ago.
That's also the reason she recovers so fast, because that's not the true reason of her snapping off.
Should've been more brave and confessed, but well, can't be a childhood friend if you are brave.
You didn't get why Hatako is mad either though. For starters, she's not mad. She's frustrated. The reason she's frustrated isn't because of Andou, it's because of herself.
Hatoko likes Andou a lot. She likes being with Andou, she likes talking with Andou and she likes liking Andou. She balanced this like with the frustration of not really having anything in common with Andou, which was alright with her until Tomoyo enters the scene.
Tomoyo connects with Andou with a chemistry Hatoko feel she doesn't have. This leads to Hatoko feeling insecure and threatened, because she thinks Andou will disappear from her life, which she really doesn't want because she really likes Andou. This fear is taken form most clearly in her lack of understanding for Andou's interests.
So when Andou is texting with Tomoyo and says "you wouldn't understand" it's all her fears of losing Andou being realized and she snaps. Her angry shouting at Andou isn't at actually at him, it's at herself. She's desperately pleading at something to change because she thinks that if there isn't a change, she's going to lose Andou.
Then she runs out because she realized she just shouted all that at Andou's face.
I agree she's not being entirely honest but the kid is a bit of a cunt for shutting her out like that. It's obvious she likes him and if she can memorise all the garbage he's spewed it shows she's at least trying to understand him.
Andou a shit.
>But Andou clearly said it
And he says a lot of fucking moon too but that gets TL'ed.
Japanese has tons of loanwords from outside of English that English speakers would not know as they are not loanwords in English, e.g. arubaito/baito, and pesquis it seems. Why the fuck was it untl'ed.
It's not a loanword in japanese, I just checked two dictionaries. It's just a chuuni using another language because it sounds cool. You're not supposed to understand it, I was sincerely surprised to see that word popping out on my screen.
This happens all the time in real life. Could be physical attraction, could be because of the nickname thing.
You don't need something in common to like somebody. It sure as hell is going to make it a lot harder to get to know them though.
Giltia pls at least explain it to her.
i recognize that phone case. It's UAG.
Nigga, that is you projecting.
I mean, in a trivial sense, you always attack someone's subjective preferences when you say you "can't understand them." When said seriously, it''s saying you, on your terms, are completely incompatible with the subjective parts of who they are. That's actually a shocking kind of statement to make, when you think about it.
But she doesn't do that, right? "Talk to me in your own words" is a request for Andou to introduce her to the world that she hasn't yet been able to enter because he's not made it possible for her to, to reach a level of mutual intelligibility. She doesn't hate that he's a chuuni, she hates that she can't communicate with him in that way.
Well, I agree with most of this. But your explanation puts everything on Hatoko. She's obviously made the effort to understand Andou and she's making the request that he make a reciprocal effort, one that's not even to understand her, but to help her understand him.
Her frustration with herself isn't incompatible with being mad at Andou at all when they're borne out of the same reasoning. The key point why it's not self-flagellation is because she makes the request that he talk to her in his own words. I see this as her being mad at his unwillingness to do so.
I mean, treat Hatoko on her own terms. If she's just shouting at herself, this makes all this her only her own fault, and the solution is for only her to change. She might be afraid she's losing Andou, but that doesn't mean she doesn't want Andou to change.
You can't negate that it's pure, destilled jelaousy what triggers all this. She would have continued to give no fucks her entire life if Tomoyo hadn't entered the picture.
It's a human emotion, nothing wrong with that.
But she should have been more honest.
first that episode with grateful robber, now this. this show really know how to pack some feels in its episodes. AOTY or atleast good enough to be put into the recomendation chart
Tact isn't about lying. It's about caring for someone and thus not hurting their feelings. And you certainly don't need to lie everytime to achieve this. Sure you can be a dick and still get out with it but that only show signs that your ego is too big and your chances to have friends narrow into having someone like you or someone who completely puts up with your attitude.
From what I've heard, it puts him into a trance-like state where all he sees is darkness, but someone is standing at the end of it, and he can hear a voice calling out to him. According to a spoiler posted sometime last week, he actually tries awakening it and begins to succeed before Tomoyo and Sayumi shut him down. But that was in the LN, while in the anime, he doesn't even get a chance.
Tomoyo being Andou's chuuni chum is exacerbating the problem, but the problem is there regardless. I wouldn't say that it wouldn't have blown up at some point and it puts a strain on their friendship regardless. Andou might have been oblivious to this, being a chuuni, but Hatoko certainly wasn't, which is why she always played along, as a way to try to get more involved with his chuuni world. It's too simple to call this jealousy and plays right into the hands of people who would like to call Hatoko a shit because she's trying to understand somebody.
On that note, everyone calling Hatoko a shit are basically wrapped up in themselves and don't want to be close to anyone. I mean, that's fine, whatever. She's not a normalfag, though, because she's not asking for him to give up his chuunibyo.
It's chuunibyou. Don't use words you looked up in a hurry.
There's another great scene in episode 2.
Eyepatch guy explained this to Hatoko though I thought. Andou says shit like "you wouldn't understand" because that's the entire point of being chuuni. It's a paradox where they want to be understood but yet they don't. It's like some sort of self-hating attention whoring. It's not so much Andou thinks Hatoko would never understand it's that he doesn't want her to.
Oh yeah, Andou has his own faults. I was just explaining it from the perspective of Hatoko.
On Andou's part it's honestly a bit simpler than that. He's simply started to taking her for granted and by doing that he stopped questioning what Hatoko wanted from him. The idiot just stopped thinking.
Ponytail summarized it quite accurately.
What would be an example of drama that is not "forced"?
Andou Jurai - Dark and Dark
Kanzaki Tomoyo - Closed Clock
Kushikawa Hatoko - Over Element
Takanashi Sayumi - Root of Origin
Himeki Chifuyu - World Create
Kudou Mirei - Grateful Robber
Kiryū Hajime (Kanzaki Hajime) - Lucifer's Strike
Litia - ???
Saitou Hitomi - Eternal Wink
Akutagawa Yanagi - Dead Space
Natsu Aki - Head Hunting
Toki Shūgo - Zigzag Jigsaw
Yusano Fantasia - Sex Eclipse
Tanaka Umeko - White Rulebook
Hinoe Mata - Lost Regalia
I want to know what you in particular think forced drama is. I care about your opinion, anon. I think you are an authority on this topic and would be delighted with the opportunity to hear your thoughts.
Man, that was a bit over-dramatic (felt way too real) but it was intense as fuck, top notch voice acting right here (as expected of Hayamin). This probably will be the highest point of the show.
If the definition of a normalfag is someone who doesn't even make the effort to try and understand someone else and can't live and let live, then taking the ultra-edge stance of not caring about tact and deriding everyone who does is the more normalfag stance to take.
You know as a kid when you thought Pokemon was real and you thought you seen Mewtwo in the sky? That's Chunni.
>Closed Clock manipulation
I remember reading a doujin about some dude who could freeze time and rape criminal girls as punishment. Would be funny to see the other way around.
>Hatoko flat out raping Andou
Hnng. Do want.
>practice flail swinging
>collecting throwing knives and stars
>believing in power/ability stones/gems
>drawing demons, naked women and skulls
>believing in aliens
>digging his backyard (mountain) for treasure
My uncle was like this when I was a kid and I thought he's the coolest person ever lived. He's the oldest chuuni I've ever known but he's also a drunkard.
Someone who acts out a continually created story in contexts where other people are not privy to the story, mostly because it only exists in the head of the chuuni. They aren't delusional, necessarily, if they know that their powers aren't real and that they are making this up as they go along, but it can be compared to having delusions of grandeur.
To simplify it, it's a LARPer who LARPs when they are the only player. You can Freud a lot out of this, I guess, but that's for you to do.
You didn't really answer my question anon.
Do you find it heartbreaking because you yourself are a weeaboo and that webm was an accurate representation of how well-adjusted people perceive you?
Daily reminder that most /a/nons will end up married and with kids.
Do people actually do the stuff she rants about in real life? I can't imagine anyone ranting about it like that unless someone actually spouts memes and random weeaboo Japanese shit with their voice in front of others.
Voices of Fallen Black members
Kiryū Hajime (Kanzaki Hajime) - Terashima Takuma
Litia - Hara Sayuri
Saitou Hitomi - Fujimura Ayumi
Akutagawa Yanagi - Iguchi Yūichi
Natsu Aki - Serizawa Yū
Toki Shūgo - Takeuchi Ryouta
Yusano Fantasia - Takagi Miyu
System (Tanaka Umeko) - Murakawa Rie
No one should do any of these things online or other wise that's kind of why I love her rant so much.
The hivemind will never break. Neither will our bonds.
Friendly reminder: If you like Hatoko, you'll like what 3DPD has to offer, so go get a girlfriend now!
This is what I don't get. On the one hand, there's the reaction to normalfaggotry because normalfaggots can't accept that someone might like to watch cute 2d girls doing cute things, and in general can't accept that people don't like the things they like.
On the other hand there's the massive reaction to shit taste and the judgments we pass on others when they don't meet our same standards, which are just as arbitrary as normalfag standards.
What is this mental dissonance?
It's that phase where autists go around rambling on about darkness, wearing naruto headbands and basically acting like cliche anime/movie/kid book characters.
It's fucking embarrassing once you grow out of it and no amount of "Well, you were having fun right?" will help.
Go chase your dreams, anon, your very own Hatoko is waiting for you out there.
And I said it still has the valid points of the original. Probably what you said too. Also if you are not a weaaboo then why are you here? More like, it's not even weaboo, don't you use words like lurk more?
>Do people actually do the stuff she rants about in real life?
Yeah actually, those things aren't just pulled out of thin air with no basis. Otherwise it would never be consistent.
It's been years but with Japans obsession on calling out otaku and neckbeards it's never been more relevant.
>Not becoming a wizard and creating a portal to the 2d realm
Online or off isn't really important. I'm just wondering why there is such a mental dissonance on the part of /a/ (a generalization, I admit, but I think it is a fair one) when we are against normalfaggotry, which tries to impose standards of normalcy and success, but pass judgment when others don't pass our standards of "taste" and proper behavior.
Move to another chan, this place needs to die and I don't feel comfortable posting somewhere where I know people are shitposting just to make screencaps to put on tumblr/reddit etc.
>Telling my kids on my deathbed the truth
>Telling them that i loved a woman who i could never be with
>Telling them they have no need to mourn as i shall finally be with her
>Finally be with the waifu after all the decades of waiting
>/a/ gets a real girlfriend
Pretty sure most of us would hide the powerlevel and keep it as the greatest secret on earth. IF she did ever shat on it, the relationship would be over.
Her freak out was the best part of the show. It's also one of the best breakdowns I've seen in a long time. I was actually about to drop the show (mostly because there is no supernatural fucking battles in a show where they are supposed to be common place) but now I'll stick around that shit has finally gotten interesting.
Not at all.
Before that I used to fap 30 times a day, balding, and a slave in despair.
THAT was no reason to live.
Now I'm free. Hair on my head grew back.
I can still enjoy rape and porn and lolies, just don't get aroused from it.
Oh and 3DPD can no longer claim any power over me, even theoretical.
Too bad. It's just love. I am a selfish self centered individual that is more interested in myself rather than trying to keep a happy relationship of compromise. If she can't handle that, then it was not worth it.
I think when it comes down to it, it's simply a misunderstanding of what "You wouldn't understand" means to them.
To the MC, it is on one hand a straightforward statement; when applied to his chuuni, as the kidnapper elaborated to Hatoko, he does not want to be understood. That's the kind of thought he puts into "You wouldn't understand".
To Hatoko however, she starts to see it as a rejection of their friendship, because to her it's a natural consequence of her inability to understand him; hence she takes "You wouldn't understand" really hard because it hits her as a "Stop talking to me already/fuck off". And that coming from a childhood friend that has always been a huge part of her life, is pretty upsetting to say the least, and can be considered the primary reason and the catalyst for her outburst.
What I think doesn't matter:
- The fact that Hatoko doesn't understand his chuuni. She hadn't actually minded beforehand, and the only reason this comes up is because she assumed that he's going to reject their friendship due to her not understanding it.
- Whether Hatoko is being jealous. She clearly is, but I think she's more upset with the fact that he's growing distant, rather than the fact that he's chatting up Red. I haven't seen any indication that she's not happy with him simply hanging out with other girls.
- Whether Hatoko is a bitch. She's acting like a normal well-adjusted high school student by all accounts. Yes, having some insecurity and not being 100% rational, and bottling emotions inside is normal behaviour. Whether that makes her a bitch is up to the viewer. Personally I think it's fine.
- Whether MC is being an ass/dick. Well he was, that much is certain, but the mitigating factor is the fact that he was doing it inadvertently and had no reason to suspect as much, because nobody told him. Besides once he realized he felt pretty shitty about it, and is quite clearly eager to resolve the matter, so there's no need to get hung up over it.
and this is the reason why i want a /a/ dedicated website when 4chan is kill
now excuse me while i regret and cry in the dark
To add to this, both of them have already resolved their respective problems (MC realizes his dick behaviour, Hatoko realizes why MC doesn't want her to understand). The only conflict left is, you know, Hatoko getting kidnapped.
I'm not saying I disliked the scene, but I can't imagine someone being able to rant at full volume like that for so long without stopping, no matter how frustrated you are, unless you're legitimately crazy.
>Whether Hatoko is a bitch. She's acting like a normal well-adjusted high school student by all accounts.
That's wrong though, she wouldn't be in that club then, or hanging around with Ju all the time.
>Well he was
I love how you defend Hatako and don't defend Ju. He didn't act particularly different from the norm (the norm being careless, rude and blunt) and Hatako just got fed up with it because she's a teenager. If she doesn't want him to be like that she just has to say an honest or serious word about it, not flip her shit
For what it's worth, I've seen people who I consider well-adjusted and normal rant longer than that when they snap, so it doesn't feel like she's crazy at all. It's admittedly anecdotal.
>>That's wrong though, she wouldn't be in that club then, or hanging around with Ju all the time.
She likes him a lot. They've always hung out with each other, all the time (it's not one-sided). Therefore if he joins the lit club for his chuuni bullshit, it's quite natural and normal for her to do the same.
>>I love how you defend Hatako and don't defend Ju
I did defend him. If you mean the fact that I called what he did a dick move, that's because it is. The way it was portrayed, it is a dick move no matter how you look at it. It being the norm doesn't make it any less dickish.
>>Hatako just got fed up with it because she's a teenager. If she doesn't want him to be like that she just has to say an honest or serious word about it, not flip her shit
Well yeah. Insecure upset female high school student. Considering the context her outburst is the kind of behaviour I'd expect.
>Episode about Hatoko
>Only makes Tomoyo even more best girl
Let's not forget to mention how cute Hatoko is in the morning.
Anyone have the image or scene that this one is based off of?
I can't find it anywhere
>Spanish for "perception, searching ability"
I'm spanish and I didn't know that
>hatokofags just got BTFO this episode
>yfw you realise they will still be watching the rest of the show even though she doesn't have a chance with the MC anymore
>Hatokofags just got BTFO this episode
Not really. She just created some of the first character development that realistically can't just go back to the status quo.
If anything Andou is BTFO. He just got a verbal beatdown so bad, his grandkids will still feel guilty for something they're too oblivious to understand.
>not wanting to have chuuni grandparents with dementia
fuck damn anon my heart.
>life sucked out of them
>probably told her mother about her new boyfreind
>had to go home and tell her mother she was dumped
You know, despite sympathizing with Hatoko so much, I still like Tomoyo more. I think she's too soft on Ju, but I think that's cute, and from the viewer's perspective more desirable.
Ju really ought develop more as a result of this, though I'm not holding out much hope. The explanation eyepatch gave her is still more about correcting Hatoko's error than about Ju's shortcomings. It feels like saying that she should just be happy not being able to connect with Ju, because he needs that, when she obviously wants to be a part of Ju's world.
one day, i will find my very own Hatoko!
After all this searching, I still cannot find her ;-;
I really don't get why.
They really fleshed her out this episode. In earlier episodes, she was just some satellite orbiting around MC with some shit excuse like muh osananajimi.
I wish she didn't get kidnapped and become some damsel in distress though.
The entire point of it was to show andou has had shades of chuuni since he was younger. It's not a Japanese loanword, he was using an obscure western word because that's what he does. You didn't understand it? Guess what. Neither did hatoko. It was untranslated on purpose, retard.
You can fuck right off back to /v/
Amazing, perfect, 10/10. Thanks /a/non!
>I only read the threads and didn't watch the episode. However I'm going to comment on it even though I know nothing
He's so chuuni that he has imagined a power that needs to be awakened in order to be useful, while everyone else's powers are perfectly functional. Holy fuck, this is some next level chuuni.
>Out by episode 2
Oh god fucking dammit.
I think I'm done, at this point I've gone full circle and just can't find any charm in these animu girl achetypes. It's come to the point where my favorite kind of girl is the "normal one" that has the rare qualities of having a mild temperament away from ice queen or drama queen, combined with earnestness and some basic manners.
I'm not even that mad about the rejection itself, but the fact that as soon as it happens we're thrown into a lame tsundere scene.
Here's hoping some more Inferno Cop references appear to cheer me up.
Andou discovered that Tomoyo wants to be a light novel author, so he's giving her feedback and encouragement.
Kneesocks/Hououmaru/Mataro. Takeuchi Ryouta was the voice of one of the Kobe leaders in Kill la Kill. I think they and Okamoto are the only "returning" VA's this time around.
Can someone please explain to me what the fuck the point of Episode 2 was? Weeks later and I don't get it.
The emotional breakdown in this episode makes sense and fits the characters just fine.
In the second episode you take a character that was just introduced and has no history with anyone in the club, you have her fall head over heels in love with the MC for no reason, and then you have her get her heart mercilessly broken in an extremely melodramatic scene that feels very out of place. And then, after all that, the character fucks off and has nothing to do with rest of the plot at all.
Fucking why do that? I don't understand. It has no overall effect on the plot or characters, it feels like it was just some way to show "Oh this series has drama and gets serious some times" but they didn't want to involve any of the main girls so they hastily created a character solely to get shat on. That seems like pretty fucking terrible writing. But maybe I'm missing something.
>Can someone please explain to me what the fuck the point of Episode 2 was?
Light hearted comedy. That's exactly what it was.
Her cute overreaction to an stupid letter was funny. If you got too attached to her because of that, you may be autistic or trying to imagine that could happen to you too.
He's not projecting. The vast majority of posters here consider people online, who they've never met and most likely never will meet, their friends.
Now that's just sad. I may not have more than just a handful of friends myself, but they're good friends.
No internet joe can ever compare.
We'll have to agree to disagree. I still think that her jealousy is the main cause and she snapped at the easiest thing to attack in order to not reveal her true feelings.
It's a standard human reaction.
>That entire scene
Am I supposed to take this seriously?
Keima-sama inspired me to let go of 3D girls forever. It won't happen I drive them away by instinct by this point.
Her scowl only makes me harder.
>Not the best
>Implying being best girl or not is determined by archetype
Go away, tsunhater.
Hatoko and Mirai seem to be a good representation of desperate and lonely girls who confused somebody treating them nicely with love...it's like their actually behaving like teenaged girls. Blue knows she's lost yet she still calls Andou by his first name without a suffix and Pink is soon to be forever in love with andou once they make up and he starts going to Red.
This is pure disgusting. little brats should never ever be winning in romcoms especially this kind.
It's true. Previous threads and this thread is proof. Andou hardly did anything wrong, but Hatoko went crazy normalfag bitch purely out of jealousy.
