Was gonna do this last week, but had to leave.
I expect most of /a/ has seen the movie, but I'd be surprised if many people have actually read the manga.
Enjoy the ride (from left to right)
I haven't read this in years. Thanks, OP.
>>117058366
No problem. I was already worried I'd be posting for myself here. Considering the length of the manga this might take about 6 hours total though.
>>117058445
>now-see-kah
>>117058498
>You-Pah
The setting reminds me of Things to Come.
>>117057666
I have the really nice Viz box release. I started reading it about a week ago. It makes me wish Miyazaki had done more manga. The art is incredible.
>>117058715
The Wells movie? Never seen it actually, is it good?
>>117058772
Yea, got the boxset too, was discounted at Waterstone. The boxset is actually left-to-right, while this version (made up of several different releases) is all right to left.
I find his art too "noisy" or busy at this point though. It gets a lot clearer in the later volumes of Nausicaa.
>>117058787
The sets are very impressive and I quite enjoyed it, even if it feels like three different movies. The middle postapocalyptic part reminds me of Nausicaa.
>>117057666
>Enjoy the ride
Don't do this.
>>117058909
Why not?
>>117058886
Gonna give that a watch sometime.
>>117058851
I kinda like how he never wastes a single panel, he puts as much as possible in each one.
Miyazaki was obviously inspired by some Western authors (Herbert's Dune for sure), but the world in Nausicaa is still very unique. I love the idea about a vast mushroom forest with giant insects.
Have you read The Drifting Classroom?
>>117059321
It's been on my backlog for a while, along with a dozen other manga unfortunately.
Thanks OP.
>>117059876
Does the thread not automatically bump when I'm dumping stuff?
>>117060000
Not anymore. OP can't bump his own thread.
>>117060000
Not if you're the OP. Moot hates storytime, so OP can't bump his thread anymore.
>>117060023
>>117060041
Thanks for bumping in that case.
Thanks, I always wanted to read it but I kept forgetting.
>>117060254
Stick around and you'll get to read the whole thing tonite...hopefully.
Upload it to file sharing perhaps would be easier. (bump)
>>117060665
What's the point of storytime if everyone reads on their own? I'll upload it to mega though if you wanna download it, just give me a few minutes.
>>117060665
Here's the whole manga for ya:
https://mega.co.nz/#!tgFRVKQK!yGaLh97oyNvYF6eUDwK6mmALWZS6MGUkjKZxl5YM9iE
>>117061179
OK, thanks
Literally too good for /a/.
>>117061220
Really seems like it. Last time I made this thread literally no one bothered reading it and the thread died.
>>117061193
already late, i should go to sleep,
>>117057666
I actually bought a colored version of it (which contained also the sketches of the author) in a bookstore near me. Still, thanks for sharing /a/non
>>117061581
The whole manga colored? Damn I'd love to have that.
>>117061581
is it colored by miyazaki or is it some ugly bullshit
>>117061644
The Nausicaa artbook with watercolour impressions by Miyazaki is glorious.
It must be the most violent of all Miyazaki's works.
I've already read it, but thanks. Hope Miyazaki's next manga is as interesting.
>>117061770
Most probably because most his movies are family or children movies.
>>117061823
>Miyazaki's next manga
I have bad news for you anon.
>>117061644
Not sure about that, but it's very well colored.
>>117061623
Bought that in a bookstore near my home, the best 30 euros (italianfag here) purchase of my life.
>>117061888
Can you post a pic? I'm really curious how well it translates into colour.
>>117061979
It always seems English-speakers get shafted when it comes to manga. We get a lot of stuff translated here in Germany for example that's never officially translated to English.
>>117062005
Now I'm not home, but I'll post one ASAP if the thread will still be up.Btw the colors are very similar to the movie's ones.
>>117062530
That'd be awesome. I'll keep the thread going, though we might move to a new one once we reach the image limit.
>>117062319
Same here in Italy. We have some great publishing companies that have sectors dedicated to manga's translations and stuff like that. Also,Miyazaki and many other mangaka love Italy,so we get a bunch of bonus stuff.
>>117062771
Copy that,bro!
>>117061979
30 euros? That's a bargarian.
This is the end of the first volume. Want me to carry on?
>>117063581
Sorry, I'm going to sleep. Thanks for the first volume.
>>117063703
No worries, I posted the mega link above so you can download the whole manga for later if you want.
Can someone bump again to make sure the thread doesn't die?
So this is left to right.
Is the box set right to left as manga originally is or is it mirrored like this one?
I'm a big stickler for the original right to left set up.
>>117065587
>>117065610
Thanks guys! Good to know someone's reading along.
>>117065614
If you get the great boxset from viz media that's it's the correct right to left.
>>117065704
Wonderful. Thanks for the tip.
I'm prob gonna buy it, I'm becoming a big time fan of Miyazaki lately. Nausicca especially.
>>117065856
Also comes with a double sided poster of Nausicaa.
I really want one of the godwarrior figures they made, but I can't find a place to get em.
>>117065644
I think there were some that only taked the mega link.
Either way I probably will stick throught the end since I don't have anything else to do.
>>117065955
Hope you find it and thanks for the thread.
And thanks for the tip again.
>>117057666
I haven't read the manga but I'm getting the big manga volume (volumes?) for christmas
>>117066133
The viz release is 2 massive volumes. It's also available as 7 thin volumes (which is where these scans are from) but those are left to right as you can see.
Bumping for truly epic content.
>>117066814
Thanks. It's almost time for a new thread I think.
>>117066236
There's also a four volume "Perfect Collection", also left to right.
>>117067709
What's perfect about it? Does it come with a plush Ohmuthat'd make it perfect for me
>>117067769
I dunno, thicker volumes, better paper, I guess? Mine are a little yellowed, but I bought them in the late nineties.
This is probably the worst place possible to ask this...
Would Nausicaa complete collection be an appropriate gift for my 14 year old niece?
>>117068069
It's a quite "verbose" story. Just think about how mush she's into lecture.
>>117067862
Looks pretty nice. Unfortunately just paperback, rather than bound, but I love the covers.
>>117068069
Does she like Ghibli stuff? It's pretty violent compared to the movie, but I guess it features a lot of strong female characters, which would be nice for her.Kushanais a great rolemodel too.
>>117068139
>>117068149
Well she's read the whole Harry Potter series, and some of the Lord of the Rings, so verbose and subject matter isn't too much of a concern. I'm just not sure how fiction from a different hemisphere will do.
Mainly, it comes down toher Mom is a Twightlight Fanaticand I'm trying to offset the crippling damage.
>>117068463
You can try. Nausicaa is definitely a better role model than anything in Twilight.
>>117068463
Do it. I trying to get my 15 yo sister to watch the movie soon. Seriously in need of a tough yet happy female role model.
>>117068542
>>117068699
I'll report back in January with the results.
Keep the thread alive till then.
>>117068946
I'll make another Nausicaa thread in January for you.
Can I get another bump?
>>117069155
I'll watch for it.
and Bump
We reached the image limit. Stay tuned for thread 2.
New thread up:
>>117070422
>>117070339
Thanks for the dump....
I mean, eat shit and die you autistic brain damaged bush baby.
Forgot where I was for a second.
