Nasu: During the preliminary stages of development, the scenario director was obsessed with a movie called "Vi(…)ck", and kept on insisting that Rider should be more like a certain black-caped character.
Mitsuzuri's design was an attempt to meet his demands that unfortunately ended up being rejected.
Still, it seemed like a waste to just throw out such good work, so it was ultimately resurrected and recycled into Mitsuzuri Ayako. Thank goodness, yeah?

By the way, after the Rin route she's still as energetic as ever. And in case you were wondering, yes, the person who attacked her was Rider. She chased her down into a back alley and SLUUURP, sucked her blood on the spot! I sure hope she didn't pick up any weird habits from that, nyahaha.

No one would say that, people still don't understand the only thing that's brought up there was her control as Shadow, since it was not her will pushing that body to eat while she was unconscious until the whole Gilgamesh thing where she was awoken. Before the Gilgamesh thing it was not her causing her to act, but a simple desire taking on the host during resting periods, yet not an evil desire either. Just an embryo in the womb reaching out for sustenance. On day twelve or so she got a huge awakening to herself, and from that point on she could not avoid any harsh truths. She accepted the Shadow of herself the next day.

Even then, she still killed Zouken, Shinji, Hassan-san, and Kotomine while she was herself. Degree of control was slipping a bit as she went along as she was being rooted down to her evil's a bit, but that was still her in control for sure. Those deaths cannot be avoided as being credited to her since she was herself there.

The deaths of the Shadow, people question because she was never in the drivers seat there, as she was asleep and being used to go around and find food for the baby. It's kind of one of the themes of the game; two innocents(for the most part) Angya and Sakura, neither had consciously committed a crime or were actually evil, but upon joining together they created a monster that might end humanity so one surely had to die. Shirou and Kotomine picked their camps on that issue. It's not an issue of good or evil in nature, but the survival of a species as one innocent must surely die for the good of the many which tests Shirou again.

Thus you see the parallels to pretty much everything in the story, including Angya's story as well, as sacrifice is always a theme here. Something must always be sacrificed, but always doing it the one for the many can leave behind untold curses in Angya. Shirou set out to find a way to not sacrifice, but it's always with him in each route regardless.

I never denied that. Shirou is following an impossible dream but still, the dream is to have nobody get hurt. Which is impossible and will lead to endless failure, therefore archer. He knows, recognizes the contradiction but still pursues it.
Shirou is described as someone that is never descouraged by what is considered impossible. Many hate the "Jumping the bar" scenes but I think it really shows up how he works. He not only has dreams he desires, but he also wants to obtain them with his only forces. I'm not criticizing the guy, I really like him, but I would never agree with him.
Rin also has some nice insight on his character.

This I don't really agree. Shirou is shown something he never really considered: the consequence of keeping lying to himself about his failure. The ideal is to be a hero but since it's impossible it will be always necessary to make sacrifices, time after time, years after years and this grates in the mind, conveniently changing the ideal. What is "save everyone" can be conveniently, in practice, changed to "well, let's save only those we can reach", "let's save only those in front of me", "it's ok to trample on a dream to save another and then trample on ten more to correct the misdoings of the first time". Shirou never expanded on this. I know he knows, but he prefers not to think about it while during UBW he is finally forced to. I'm sure such an insight will help him along the way.
