What anime got you into anime??
>yfw her hobbies include watching anime
Akira got me intrigued.
original Dagon ball, got me hooked
I've been into anime since I was fairly young, but the original Gundam and Zambot 3 were the series that turned it into a serious hobby. They're also the series that brought me to 4chan, /m/ in particular.
I read other mangas before I got into Rozen Maiden but that was the one anime that really hooked me. The manga for that series was weirdddd.
She's the type of girl we can't speak about here
The first anime which kind of got me into the culture was DBZ.
But after some time I quit watching anime because it stopped appearing in the german tv so my interest to it disappeared too.
Then when I became a complete basement dweller I started watching it again. My weaboo friend had talked me into it for quite some time too. The first anime he recommended me to watch was death note.
back in 2004
and I fucking love it
underrated as FUCK
>Not find a girl who's into yaoi
>Because all fujos are disgusting landwhales with some type of mental illness or goes to tumblr
Then I lived happily ever after jerking it to bishies, shota and loli. The end.
I'm a girl, and I got into anime through K-on :3
Clannad, and to this day it's still my favorite
What did you think of watching Akira so early in your anime career? My
friendswho have seen a lot of anime will still talk about "that weird movie with the guy yelling 'Canada'" as if it was the weirdest thing they ever saw
Sounds faggy as hell but back when I was 18-years-old and the DESUDESUDESU meme was relatively hot shit(must have been 2007 or something) and one friend of mine was into anime big time I asked him to borrow his burned dvd off Rozen Maiden so I could watch it in shitty ass quality. After that I was hooked and watched shit like Welcome to NHK, School Rumble and Haruhi.
I guess /b/ got me into anime.
/a/niki, I know that feel. Elfen lied was a Defibrulator that awakened my true powers as a lover of anime. Also, Code Geass followed shortly after
Pokemon, if that counts. Lucky Star was the first I actively searched out for though.
We all start somewhere
Back when I was 16 my parents bought a knockoff/blackmarket set of VHS tapes supposedly with this anime on it. They gave it to my stepsister since she liked anime at the time and when they all started it up in the living room some extremely hardcore ballbusting porn came up.
Needless to say both parents still think anime is pornography and my stepsister is into some sick shit now.
it is when you are between 8 and 14 years old!!!
prime anime watching years. after that it's downhill.
I was horny and thought it was just another KissXSis so I watched it expecting to see some aniki on imouto action.
Then even after I figured there wouldn't be any lewd stuff I continued watching it for the story
even after my heart broke when Ayase lost, read the LN and watched other animes.
I'm slowly becoming what I always feared to be. I guess it can't be helped. The otaku life chooses you.
Never seen anyone else even knowing that this exist.
I want to call out people for shit tastes in this thread, but then I remembered SAO was the one who got me into anime, even if I don't like it anymore.
Well, shit like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, DBZ, and other stuff on US tv was stuff I watched first, but I never really thought of it as anime, it was just cartoons. What got me into anime was my friend lending me VHS bootlegs of subbed episodes of Project A-ko and Bubblegum Crisis (I think, it was something similar at least, maybe gunsmith cats?) way back in the day.
I've been on the ride ever since; I've wanted to get off a couple times, but I've accepted my fate now.
Dude what the fuck SAO came out like a year or two ago, enjoy judging people when you haven't even been doing your hobby for half your life like a real man.
I unironically enjoyed every second of SAO. I started watching anime when I was like 10 and I couldn't give a single fuck about how bad people say it is.
>tfw watching Onizuka and Love Hina in .rmvb in 2003
Ooh, I remember watching Trigun and not even thinking Anime was a thing, then my brother got me into watching Fullmetal in 2004-2005.
Now i'm sitting here fapping to doujins.
Should I thank him?
I started watching anime when I was 26, and that was during the second season of Spice & Wolf in 2009.
i one time saw a mirai nikki wallpaper and i decided to watch that then getting into other shit anime
before that i was watching streamed naruto episodes and playing tales of ___ games
Cyborg 009 and Rurouni Kenshin. I was looking on this tiny television my grandparents had, for something - anything to entertain. We were only there for a couple weeks, so I only saw a few episodes. Still, it was all-too-exciting seeing actual plot development in both it, and Rurouni Kenshin that directly followed the show. After that, I watched some Gundam movie (Char's Counterattack I think?), coming from halfway in, and loved it, followed by the first two episodes of Gundam Seed, along with some earlyish episode where Flay starts laughing maniacally at the end.
Then I downloaded and watched Spirited Away in bed, one tiresome night. The rest is history.
Bleach had just started airing in Japan and someone on one of the forums I frequented mentioned it. Moved on to other stuff from there. I didn't get too into it though until Haruhi, Higurashi, Clannad, and Lucky Star.
Really I was kinda always into anime
dad was into anime
brother were into anime
I was never under the impression that the anime I watched as a kid were any good, in fact I always knew they were garbage, but was so in love with their concepts I wanted to find better ones which is why I dived into anime.
Nowadays I'm just reading manga, all the awesomeness of anime but the series are actually good.
