I watched the anime that aired on TV here back when I was young, and my favourite out of them was Digimon. So, I guess that one.

The first anime which kind of got me into the culture was DBZ.

But after some time I quit watching anime because it stopped appearing in the german tv so my interest to it disappeared too.

Then when I became a complete basement dweller I started watching it again. My weaboo friend had talked me into it for quite some time too. The first anime he recommended me to watch was death note.

Naruto when it aired on Toonami about 6-7 years ago. Dropped it after a while and didn't start watching again until earlier this summer. Death Note hooked me this time.

Sounds faggy as hell but back when I was 18-years-old and the DESUDESUDESU meme was relatively hot shit(must have been 2007 or something) and one friend of mine was into anime big time I asked him to borrow his burned dvd off Rozen Maiden so I could watch it in shitty ass quality. After that I was hooked and watched shit like Welcome to NHK, School Rumble and Haruhi.

I was horny and thought it was just another KissXSis so I watched it expecting to see some aniki on imouto action.
Then even after I figured there wouldn't be any lewd stuff I continued watching it for the story even after my heart broke when Ayase lost, read the LN and watched other animes.

Well, shit like Pokemon, Sailor Moon, DBZ, and other stuff on US tv was stuff I watched first, but I never really thought of it as anime, it was just cartoons. What got me into anime was my friend lending me VHS bootlegs of subbed episodes of Project A-ko and Bubblegum Crisis (I think, it was something similar at least, maybe gunsmith cats?) way back in the day.

I've been on the ride ever since; I've wanted to get off a couple times, but I've accepted my fate now.

I started watching anime when I was 26, and that was during the second season of Spice & Wolf in 2009.

Girls und Panzer was my first. Just went onto /a/, picked a random anime that was being talked about and watched it.

Death Note got me into anime as long as you don't count Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, or Beyblade.

Elfen lied, some faggot in the barracks showed it to me and got into it.

FLCL got me into anime, Azumanga Daioh was my first anime that wasn't pokemon.

I like both shows and this was about 2009.

Cyborg 009 and Rurouni Kenshin. I was looking on this tiny television my grandparents had, for something - anything to entertain. We were only there for a couple weeks, so I only saw a few episodes. Still, it was all-too-exciting seeing actual plot development in both it, and Rurouni Kenshin that directly followed the show. After that, I watched some Gundam movie (Char's Counterattack I think?), coming from halfway in, and loved it, followed by the first two episodes of Gundam Seed, along with some earlyish episode where Flay starts laughing maniacally at the end.

Then I downloaded and watched Spirited Away in bed, one tiresome night. The rest is history.

Medaka Box. I saw a friend watching it at school, got interested then got a copy of it from him.

I went through about 3 phases

1. This is a cool cartoon! (Dragonball Z)

2. I'll watch this in Japanese (Naruto)

3. I'm hooked on this shit now (Higurashi)

Bleach had just started airing in Japan and someone on one of the forums I frequented mentioned it. Moved on to other stuff from there. I didn't get too into it though until Haruhi, Higurashi, Clannad, and Lucky Star.

Really I was kinda always into anime

I was never under the impression that the anime I watched as a kid were any good, in fact I always knew they were garbage, but was so in love with their concepts I wanted to find better ones which is why I dived into anime.
