MAL doesn't have the scanlation tracking which is the only reason I use Baka-Updates. Anyway, it's probably just temporary issues.
>>
pls no, don't die.
I can't keep track of the updates on all the shit I'm reading without it.

Okay, let me reword that.
I'm currently reading around 50 manga (with active scanlators releasing chapters at irregular intervals) and I would either lag behind on the releases hard or not even bother try to stay up to date anymore. It would make my scanlations reading experience much more annoying altogether.

Does that sound better?
>>
>>115761737

The federales arrived.

>>
>>115762050
>I'm currently reading around 50 manga
Smart decision.

>I would either lag behind on the releases hard or not even bother try to stay up to date anymore.
Okay.

>It would make my scanlations reading experience much more annoying altogether.
Because you don't know of the other ways to keep track of things.
>>
>>115762141
Did you really ask this?
>>
>>115762050

I hate dropping series, so I soldier on even through the mediocre ones. Definitely not smart, but I can't say I regret it.
>Because you don't know of the other ways to keep track of things.
If you've got better options, I'm all ears.

>>115762218
It's easy for you to say when all you read are MangaStream releases.
>>
Why so much hate for this site?
What's so bad about a site that allowa you to track the manga that you read? Does this site harm someonoe in any form?
>>

Well, I thought about it, but in my opinion the advantages of MU well outweight the drawbacks. Granted it doesn't die, that is.

I was asking a honest question. I seriously don't understand why people is hating so much on this site. I always thought it was a handful tool.

>>115762418
If you're talking about the comunity then I have nothing to say, fari enough I guess. I only use the site to track manga and nothing else so I wouldn't know anyways.

what is wrong with you people
why are you tracking anything

Im now reading manga that finished months ago because I lost track but it's not like I didn't have anything else to do during

manga or anime is not nearly so demanding to have spreadsheets over they dobt disappear
>>
>>115767805
I was gonna reply seriously but I noticed you type like a child.
>>
Anything still got the MU database dump? I probably have it somewhere, but I'd have to find it in amongst my crap.
>>

Not him but I used to DL directly from the FTP. Why did they disallow this? I don't want to make an account.
>>

Probably going to be hard to find it then

Oh excuse me I'm sure I missed out on quite the essay on the merits of obsessively listing my korean media and their updates

I should've ran that through spellcheck damn my quick posting

It's more like obsessively following. Never out of date on hundreds of series.

In my case, about a third is manga with dead scans or on hiatus, that i want to know if it resumes.
Another third is manga that i am reading on an irregular basis.
Only one third i actually read and some of it is stuff like berserk.
I also keep track of which point i dropped a series.
>>

You should probably learn Japanese to stay on top of things better

At least I have a snapshot of my reading list from 3 months ago.

>>115768156
Do you not like the things you read? If you like it you'd come back to it naturally

This is like making lists out of some obligation

If you miss out of an update you miss out, you can check it anytime
>>
>>115763465
CR can't even track their own releases consistently. MU was arguably better at tracking releases on CR than CR was.

No, I enjoy everything I read a lot.

how

If they don't both go down at the same time, I'm safe.

Even if it all goes down, I'm still fine considering I don't stream anything, so I just gotta check which is the latest chapter I downloaded for each mango.
>>
>>115769077
They happen on their own sometimes. I haven't seen one in ages though. It's not like anyone bothers to read through all of them. Although it's usually pitiful to see how depressingly low level some of /a/ is.

I wrote a MU to MAL importer for kicks. It's impossible for MAL to be up to date, they're missing lots of shit or shit that is just wrong. I also write a script to update my MAL every time I completed a series which works maybe 70% of the time without any special title search.

They already stopped officially linking to any scanlation sites. There's nothing legally wrong with what they're currently doing.
>>
Just wondering, was MU having money/donation troubles?
>>
>>115769734

>>
>>115769669

>>
>>115769669
There was nothing legally wrong with links to scanlation groups either. All that case showed us was that MU will obey with any and all DMCA notices they receive.
>>
>>115765824
>>115766250
mangaupdates was useful because you could generate a list of manga that are all completely Scanlated, all Seinen/Shounen/whatever and all specific genres. Basically filtering all manga and narrowing them down to things you're in the mood for.

it also told you when and who scanlated things so you can find their websites if you need to.
>>
>>115769879
It's funny cause most shitty reader sites don't even list who did them anymore. And Batoto is missing loads of series. MU also sometimes noted when a series was finished but not on any online reader anywhere. It meant that it existed somewhere, even if there wasn't any easy way to find it.
>>
>>115766614

MU already took a massive hit when they couldn't directly link to scanlator websites

If it dies at this point I might just switch to online readers to keep track.

Weren't anidb going to start doing manga as well like 5 years ago?
>>

Only from people too stupid to spend 10 seconds googling for the script

Sure I'm retarded for not being able to remember several thousand character names at worst which are astonishingly similar. Sure I can probably remember the MC or two, but trying to remember thousands of side character names after long periods of time is self harm.

I wish I could add a feed for a single manga release
>>
>>115771307
Completed to ongoing is still a 5 to 1 ratio. Part of the fun of some series is the waiting and shounenshit gets my through waiting for releases every week sometimes.

>>115771345

>>
>>115771321
>Convince me it can be more practical.
I use a combination of both. I used to use purely RSS but it got a bit too cumbersome and the feeds all died. I usually just follow the groups I look out for most these days. I'm just saying it's not really any less practical.
>>
>>115771467
>I used to use purely RSS but it got a bit too cumbersome and the feeds all died.

Liken that to MU dying. I thought I'd just try something different. It's still slower than pure feeds, which is why I still use some of them.
>>
Solution: don't read manga
>>
>>115771593
I download everything from a DDL website, and I just have to look at the newly uploaded items to see what's been released. As easy as that.

What's the question? And what does this seek to solve?

Yeah, no. And while I agree that MU is slower, it's still way simpler to keep track with it.
>>
>>115771775
>What's the question?
'How do I keep track of the manga I read without MU?'

Answer: don't read manga. Can't keep track of a medium you don't partake in, unless you like wasting time.
>>
Why is /a/ so casual?
>>
>>115771837
But that doesn't track what I've already read! A new solution must be required.

Sir, do you not know anything about the website you're on right now? And I fail to see how that even matters you autistic fuck. Who cares what a site's userbase is like if you never enter any chat/forums/comments/etc. and simply use it as the highly useful tool that it is?

I still don't know why people think the community is so awful in the first place. Granted I don't visit the rest of the site at all, but it's way less cancerous than most other places. They even have reasonable suggestions sometimes. The only thing of note is the notable proportion of females and yaoi releases, but there's just as many scanlators of that stuff in the first place.
