I don't get it, /a/.
This anime followed every single high school romance-harem trope that exists and should have been the generic as fuck. Combine that with the fact that it has an extraordinary amount of filler even for the genre, and you get a series that on paper, should be everything I hate.
Then why did I end up really enjoying Nisekoi? Did anybody else have a similar experience with the show?
>Pic related: Best episode.
But as I said, I should have hated it. It goes against all my usual tastes. But I didn't.
Like, it's not brilliant, but I certainly enjoyed it more than most other series in the highschool genre.
You have good taste in episodes at least, OP.
Best girl was introduced in that one.
Such a pity she got so little screen time afterwards.
>Did anybody else have a similar experience with the show?
At first, yes. I don't know why I enjoyed it so much. But then you read the manga for months.
I've heard the manga is ridiculously slow paced and does that thing the anime occasionally did where it repeats the same scenes, but with different visuals. Any truth to that?
The anime has amazing direction and good visuals. As for the manga, it also has very good visuals and it panders softly to the taste of different people even if nothing happens.
Nisekoi is the perfect potato chips of harem.
I'll just leave this here:
>Nisekoi is the perfect potato chips of harem.
That's pretty damn accurate.
I watched all 20 episodes over a period of 5 days when I was very busy at work. I was great to come home and watch something that wasn't mentally taxing and occasionally gives a laugh or two. Also, the characters are fun which makes it especially attractive to me.
Thing is, I actually want to read more of that now and I have no idea why. More of best girl might be a factor though.
I find the first 60 or so chapters of the manga(the whole anime run, basically) very entertaining, despite how cliched and shitty the writing is. And I followed it since day 1. Now it's dragging on and on, and there's only good arc or 2
In the last 4 days I've read 130 chapters of the manga and saved every page with my waifu
You don't really know how true this image is until you do.
It nails what it sets out to do but I could not appreciate it on a weekly basis while it was airing. This seems more like a something that should at least be viewed once a day.
That's because people on /a/ are fucking retarded when it comes to criticizing. The reason these tropes exist is because they work. However there are good tropes and there are bad tropes.
Or tropes you like and tropes you dislike, since taste is subjective. While I assume that Nisekoi has some tropes you dislike as well Eh nandatte?it will have enough redeeming qualities, which are in this case tropes you didn't mind or even liked, but never gave much thought, because usually shows that utilize these tropes are using horrible examples as well and so they're horrible overall.
I don't think there is necessarily such a dichotomy of good and bad tropes. I think it's got more to do with how well the tropes are executed and whether the show adds something special to the mix. By achieving these two criteria I think Nisekoi succeeds in being more than the sum of its parts.
>see this thread
>inspired by the positive reception
>say "fuck it, I'll pre-order the BD"
Well I tried.
So, can we get more of best girl in this thread?
>Then why did I end up really enjoying Nisekoi?
>Did anybody else have a similar experience with the show?
If under "similar experience" my own "I actually finished this shit show" counts too, then yes. Yes, I did.
In other news, Mom is the best girl.
Are Tsugumifags the majority or just the most vocal?
I think we're just the most vocal because Tsugumi gets so little screentime in the anime.
Because you literally have shit taste.
Nisekoi was an abomination in every regard, it's kinda fascinating how Shaft managed to press the already horrible source material into an even worse anime adaption.
Meh, fuck them, Mom was the only good character in the whole series.
What did you expect from Shaft? For them to suddenly stop using their trademark methods?
Unless, of course, you are like everybody else, that is to say, from all Shaft series you've seen only Madoka and/or *monogatari. Then I guess you wouldn't've been expecting this.
>She had about 2 minutes of screentime
Thus they didn't have time to ruin her for me.
>and fitted a rather generic anime mother trope.
I actually enjoy that rather generic anime mother trope; everything else is just my wishful thinking filling in the empty space in characterization with what I myself like.
Haru > Tsugumi > Mamadera > Onodera > Indian Chitoge > Chitoge's mom > Tsugumi > Ruri > Kansai lesbian > Marika > NTR teacher > Random kouhai that likes Shuu > Chitogue > Yui > Marika's bodyguard > Chink loli assassin > Glasses news club girl
Who did I miss?
In the 2 character polls, Tsugumi's numbers stayed exactly the same.
Basically everyone who ever loved Tsugumi still loves her, and no new fans appeared after the first year because she hasn't had many chapters. And that still makes her #4 in the polls after Marika, Chitoge, and Onodera.
Yui appeared (again) in the new ED. Is Shaft just teasing us or the new season is going to be 2 cour again (and 24 episodes this time instead of 20)?
Is the OST for this, and Mekaku for that matter, never being released? I really want them both.
The 'filler' is still part of the soul of Nisekoi, but certain comedy chapters such as the Tsugumi gadget chapters would feel weird in the anime since they're a recurring skit.
>people tell me Kosaki is best girl and that other girls are shit
>i ended up liking Chitoge and Tsumugi more
>Haru is the better Onodera than her boring sister
This Kosaki circlejerk is a farce
Yeah I love the chapters too, it's just that S1 didn't really set itself up as a sketch comedy, and the gadget chapters are exactly that. It suits the manga well but not the anime.
There has been maybe one person in this entire thread saying anything remotely positive about Onodera.
Is she really disliked that much? I found her bland but very inoffensive.
Chitoge has her heart where it is, but protected by her ribcage symbolizing her love protects by a hard exterior.
Onodera has her heart in her eye meaning she is always looking at her love and paying it attention.
Tsugumi has her heart where it should be, but it is green, full of envy. She knows who she loves, but she knows it is not hers even despite how large her love is.
Marika's has her heart in her palm. Always ready to grab it. However she has not grabbed it. The heart is also bleeding. It is crying. Is she sad at what she does not will herself to ultimately grasp?
It's okay anon. Manga readers do the same every week.
Haru has her heart hidden behind her back. Much like a child hiding something they are guilty of. She feels guilty about her love since it conflicts with her sister's.
Personally I think it's because that's the joke. It's intentionally doing it to fuck with the audience and intentionally finds ways to cock block any sort of resolution because the author couldn't make the series he wanted to make and this is his revenge.
That's Nisekoi in a nutshell. Understanding it helps you to enjoy it. Also, Shaft tilt bullshit works perfect with this series, it's 100% their thing.
Shaft's adaption magnifies the virtues (the cute girls, the humor) and minimizes the vices (the fact that it goes on and on and on with zero progress, mainly). The anime stops at just the right point.
It's already on Nyaa.
I wanted to let you know I thought you made a good post here. Thanks.
>Is she really disliked that much? I found her bland but very inoffensive.
Kosaki is inoffensive to the degree that it becomes offensive. Also, her lack of progress is infuriating.
I guess DeadFish is the safest bet?
>now we know who is to blame for the way that all progress is stalled forever
OP2 was much better than OP1 though.
It's literally the same anon. Just wait for evetaku.
Spending enoug time on /a/ will make you realise that you should do just whatever the fuck you want. If you want to choose between subs go to AniDB/MAL wherever, look at the ratings and download it best one. If you notice you don't like it, then change it. Simple as that.
Your life will become much easier if you learn to give less fucks about things that don't matter and care about those that do.
Fuck that. OP2 was all around better than OP1.
>Also, what was the deal with the magazine in OP2?
They're going to some crazy ass festival I guess.
neechan temporarily unlisted
girls' intro: marika > kosaki > tsugumi > haru > chitoge
happiest when winner: marika > kosaki > haru > tsugumi = chitoge
support raku in daily life: haru > kosaki > marika > tsugumi = chitoge
prospects of their own: haru > tsugumi > kosaki > marika > chitoge
worst girl chapters 1-142:
chitoge even maruusha is better
No, it's definitely a magazine.
>neechan temporarily unlisted
It's been 5 months/22 chapters. When are you going to add her?
Why are all these kids retarded to not remember their so-called first love 10 years ago?
That's why I suggested AniDB as well. Hell if you're unsure just read the comments on Nya or just download all of them and decide for youself. Jesus, as long it's not Hadena or any other terrible group most people don't even notice differences between different groups, except for the typesetting, so in the end it's really just your autism tingling your feet.
not good for
little gjrlsto have autism
i'm just waiting for another yui arc of sorts, i'll add it then
You get Tsugumi as a guaranteed mistress if you go with Chitoge. That's hard to pass up.
So when will Claude reveal that when he found Tsumugi, he saw Tsumugi had personal effects on "him" and decided to keep it with him until a time he feels Tsumugi has become a true "man" where he gives it and among them is a key?
Life without this possibility is pointless.
I remember being close friends with a girl in elementary, but she moved away after a year and never saw her again. But at least I still remember her name.
Maybe most people in Japan remain static all their life? i.e. they never grow up and hold on to things like childhood promises all the way through high school even if they don't even remember who they made the promise to.
But Tsumugi can never be true man.
Chitoge might be up for a threesome, too.
>giving arcs to any other than Chitoge or Haru
It's been 142 chapters and not even Kosaki had her own arc.
I think I only enjoyed it so much because it was animated by SHAFT.
How much people remember is one at hand.
This is of no relevance, after all: this is fiction.
And as fiction, it works under the laws of a theme, instead of following any semblance of realism.
Heck, the first opening spelled it out for you, and you didn't get it? Pay attention to Shaft's openings, I am no longer dismissing anything like pic related.
Onodera's are best girls.
>threesome with Chitoge and Tsugumi
>Chitoge orders her to spread her legs for you
>Chitoge pins her down and forces her legs open
>she tells you to make her into a real woman and fuck her silly
I could see it.
I feel the same way OP. I have no reason to like the series as much as i do.
I know every chapter is going to be some inconsequential filler, yet i keep tuning in.
I guess its kinda like playing musuo games, i.e the games you play when you don't really want to think to hard about stuff and just unwind and have fun
>Heck, the first opening spelled it out for you, and you didn't get it? Pay attention to Shaft's openings, I am no longer dismissing anything like pic related.
I'm too dense to see any major hints in the first OP.
Do you mean the first ED? It screams that Chitoge is the promised girl who was reading the sad story or whatever.
Weren't the lyrics literally about how the girls actually DON'T want that puzzle to be solved? Or I am remembering it wrongly... I think I had CLICK somewhere on the hdd, let's see...
It's because you're a memer. You meme a lot and follow other memers in herds, the memers chose this show so you chose it as well and loved every second of it because the other memers did.
She binds them down because she's embarrassed.
Was the show this faithful to the manga? I don't really remember, but they did a good job of adapting those 2 chapters.
Pretty sure they've never mentioned her doing that.
When she was first revealed as a girl to Raku she was just wearing a shirt and bra.
Just inconsistent art I guess.
>Then why did I end up really enjoying Nisekoi?
You have achieved enlightenment.
Hm, so it wasn't exactly like this, more of
I kinda want to hear the sound of the last piece clicking in,
BUT I am still keeping that piece hidden.
Commie had a better translation of this, can somebody just cite it?
I have to admit.
you've been looking at too many dressed-up boys if that's your takeaway from the image, anon
The wind fairies are hard at work in every single Shaft anime out there. They may not have the budget to animate half the episode, but the wind fairies will still work their magic on everybody's hair.
It's already confirmed that Komi is going to add at least 2 new girls, but what type of girls? Yandere? Loli?
>It's already confirmed that Komi is going to add at least 2 new girls,
What? Where? What?
>One of the seven heroines of Bonyari
>One of the seven
We have Marika, Kosaki (both confirmed), Chitoge, Tsugumi and Yui (?).
I don't think that Kosaki will get an arc to herself. It would inevitably draw in Chitoge.
Unless Komi breaks the formula enough to allow Raku and Kosaki to start dating. THAT would be interesting. But even then, there'd be a conflict with Raku still fake-dating Chitoge.
>New girl arc
Kosaki chapter is next right? RIGHT?
She's got the figure of a woman is all.
Watch it for the girls. And only for the girls. Do you know how much filler is in the manga? Jesus even Akame ga Kill has more story than this. And the only story Akame ga Kill has is introducing chracters only for them be killed off. Nisekoi barely has any new characters anymore to compensate for the lack of story unless the harem grows larger again. But I'll still read it.
Nisekoi is a generic harem executed well. There's nothing inherently wrong with harems since the goal is ultimately fanservice, but the fact of the matter is, most harems don't show enough respect to the genre.
The girls are more interesting than purely cut and paste archetypes, the protagonist isn't so undefined that it's a stretch for all the girls to like him, and there's the bare minimum requirement of narrative technique. It doesn't really do anything special, it just does everything a little better than what we have now.
So no OP, your taste ain't shit, Nisekoi is about as good as anyone can do at harem without bringing up the question of whether or not it's still harem.
An example of how cute the characters are, and how good the artist is at composing and framing a scene
His art really moves, it's a shame about Double Arts but you can see how his first try improved Nisekoi. Most harem manga just throw faces on pages and call it a day, but the panelling in Nisekoi is really great.
I like you, you've got good taste and you've seen through the shit encrusted filth that are Kosaki fans.
Have some Tsugumi
We didn't have enough Nisekoi threads before the anime debuted. This is prime reaction image material.
If Raku and Kosaki start dating at any point that isn't the ending then that's the death knell for Kosaki.
Not that she has any real chance in the first place but that'll just confirm it.
>If Raku and Kosaki start dating at any point that isn't the ending then that's the death knell for Kosaki.
>Not that she has any real chance in the first place but that'll just confirm it.
It has happened before. It will happen again.
