Softcover book. But a light tablet isn't bad.

OP is right
it's the besr online reader out there

That image basically fits on a landscape orientated screen cause of their downscaling. You're a retard on both counts.

I buy tanks if I really love something, otherwise I read on my TV using ComicRack while I lying in bed, naked under the covers.

Paperback a best

eink is a serviceable and versatile alternative

If all else fails I will always have my memories of reading stuff back in the early/mid 00's on onemanga when I first got into manga
>>
Book is best, but the best digital way to read with with the Kobo Auro HD.

I rip pages individually from mangapanda and print them at the library.

In its physical form. ereaders and tablets next. I prefer tablets because I like having color pages, fast page turns, and being able to download manga straight to it without an external device or having to convert them.

>>
>>115145143
seconding this, I never really got into manga best I couldn't enjoy it readin git on my computer, even laptop. I bought HD after my kindle shit isself and soon discovered how kobo basically made those devices to cater to manga/graphic novels. Then I found out about batch manga downloaders and how unbelievably easy to use they are. Now I have about 30 or 40 series' on my hd right now and have been reading an absolute shitton of it.

manga is by a wide margin the most pirateable format of all, better than music and talkies.
>>
>>115145590
No, I rewatch something but not reread something.
>>
>>115145565
I remember that one based as fuck manga extension for chrome, allmangasreader.

Too bad it doesn't have a fucking firefox version yet.
>>
>>115145530
I usually pick pages out for things relatively often. A hell of a lot more than anime. And it doesn't take up much space in comparison. Just one day I'll think about some fact or event in a manga and then try to find the page.
>>
>>115143461

>>

Basic advantages are no waiting for page to load though and the ability to read without an internet connection.

You might live in the most 1st world county ever and have 24/7 power and internet but it never hurts to have a stash of manga stored offline in case of emergencies
>>
>>115145676
I'm talking about an other extension that I knew that did the same thing.
It would track what series you read and using RSS instantly tell you when new chapters were out as well.
>>
>>115145661
The latter part, I buy the book if I reconsider to reread it, since I will really support the industry.
>>
>>115145661
I archive the shit I read too but manga chapters last what, 5 minutes? I can understand why people stream their manga instead. I only do it out of autism.
>>
>>115145746
Oh, well fair enough then.
Really though, just download it. You can delete it when you're done if you want. It takes less effort than using an online reader.

>>

no resting on your bed placing laptop on your stomach using mouse to scroll down and read
>>
>>115145967
Don't worry anon. Unless you were planning on importing your manga from Japan you weren't really supporting the author enough to count anyways.
>>
>>115143651
>mangapanda
>we are so fucking full of ourselves that we have our logo eat up half of every single page
>>
>>115145913
I like the weight and smell of physical books but I still prefer reading on a tablet because of the backlighting and various other little things.
>>
>>115145998
>Unless you were planning on importing your manga from Japan

I was and despite Japanese manga being very cheap I got severely spooked by shipping costs.
>>
>>115145992
At least laptops are portable. There is nothing greater than being able to read manga on a toilet or chilling in the backyard on a nice sunny day underneath the shades while the breeze hits you ever so slightly.
>>
>>115146064
Shipping costs are the true enemy of print media. I once bought 4 H-manga that doubled in prince due to shipping.
>>
>>115145143
>Kobo Auro HD.
>>115145611
>kobo basically made those devices to cater to manga/graphic novels
Stop. The screen is smaller than even the smallest manga. Not to mention that those manga have no print margins, so they go right to the edges and make full use of the ~7" pages. The Kobo range is simply inadequate when compared to the Kobo DX or the Icarus Excel. And that's asuming the scans are 1:1 to the source. Selling my Aura HD and buying a DX from ebay was the best decision I've made in a while.

I like my N7 even after two years of using it. Affordable, gets the job done, and I like the size.
>>

Truly. I wanted to get the Gundam The Origin aizoban's by vertical but shipping was like $20

I went through with it, but amazon keeps declining my debit card. Fuck knows why, I use this card for steam and other e purchases just fine. Arguably I've never bought any physical goods with it online before.
>>
>>115146119
>Kobo DX
You mean Kindle DX? I own one an it's fucking terrible for reading Manga. Kobo Aura HD has a higher resolution anyway, which is more important than screen size.
>>
>>115146170
>underneath the shades
Come on anon, don't selectively read.
>>
>caring where other people read or watch their animes/mangas

Why is this board full of sperglords?
>>
>>115143461
right now ipad, might try it on the kindle but I feel it's going to be cramped
>>

It's so g-d damn hot here even under the shades I start sweating like a pig.

>OP asks question
>why are you guys answering the OP's question?
>>
>>115146210
Also paperwhite has panel view/zoom and I suspect kobo has something like that too.

So if a certain panel is too small, just zoom that shit rovided your scan is of sufficient res, since your screen is a decent res already
>>
>>115146244
If you've got an ipad there's no point in getting a kindle. Just get comic glass or something.
>>
>>115146252

Rainy days are amazing, too. Unfortunately my part of the country is in drought and I haven't experienced rain in months.

Sun keeps me from going depression mode, though. I like the smell of summer. Reminds me of the good ol' country side.
>>
>>115146210
>You mean Kindle DX?
I do.
> an it's fucking terrible for reading Manga.
I disagree.
>Kobo Aura HD has a higher resolution anyway, which is more important than screen size
I disagree again. The resolution is clearly useful for text that it can render itself, but largely useless for bitmap text that it will be scaling to fit the screen, which is pretty much every manga. Its only clear use is for zooming in, which is an all too common task given that manga frequently has whitespace borders, either introduced by the author or by the scanner, making the small screen real-estate even small. I found that zooming on the Aura HD wasn't a particularly fast operation either.

On the plus side, I found it better than the Nexus 7 purely for the fact that e-ink hides the quality issues brought about from scaling scans to a higher resolution.
>>
1) Hear about series.
2) Wait until series concludes.
3) Learn in advance if it actually has a real ending that is not complete garbage.
4) Read manga.

Please Note: This will remove 99.99% of manga from your reading list. It will also result in you not reading or talking about garbage series.

There is so much garbage manga. There is so much good manga. Remove the garbage by not reading anything that doesn't have a real ending.
>>
>>115146638
Wouldn't that ruin the ending?
>>
>>115143461
With your eyes.

Though reading via touch as a raised surface like Braille might be okay if you're blind.
>>
>>115146581
Nexus 7/Android has ComicRack which lets you get rid of borders which is a huge plus on a 7" tablet since all the pages fit perfectly without having to zoom in on anything at all. Never ran into quality issues with high quality scans.
>>
>>115146761

No. Because people who are not fucking garbage do not care about knowing the ending.

Romeo and Juliet both die.

Knowing that spoiler changes nothing. It lets you know that there is a real story there.

>>115146581
>>an it's fucking terrible for reading Manga.
>I disagree.
How?

>getting manga on the device is a painfully slow process making keeping up with ongoing manga a hassle
>screen ppi is awful for image viewing
>4 gb storage with no option to expand
Not to mention the image viewer was a proof of concept that was never actually finished
>manga will sometimes not load when opened
>reader will freeze requiring you to return to the menu and open the manga again
>turning back pages is slower than sin
>pages will often not full load, leaving half of the screen the previous page
>the top bar stays visible if you tell it to be hidden, often pushing content of the manga off the screen
>screen often leaves a dim highlight of the previous page in the black areas of pages
>>
>>115146902
>Because people who are not fucking garbage do not care about knowing the ending.
I haven't done any official survey or anything but I'm pretty sure that 90% people care about spoilers. It's why we fucking have this in the first place.

So what you want people to do is ruin one of the biggest moments in a story and wait til everyone is long done talking about it in order to read it?
>>
>>115143461
Question, X61 Thinkpad Tablet listing ending in 2h, it's at 60$ now, 2GB RAM, L7500, but 1400x1050 screen, could it work as a manga-reader, could have it up vertically. Also might need it for PDFs and such.

And how much do these devices usually cost?
>>
>>115146902

That one isn't a spoiler because they tell you it's going to happen in the opening narration. Anything that happens in the first chapter doesn't really count as a spoiler.
>>
>>115147099
>could it work as a manga-reader, could have it up vertically

If you can fold it backwards, maybe? The big problem is the weight, though. I have a Surface Pro which weighs significantly less than an average laptop but I still don't use it to read manga because it's uncomfortable.
>>
>site

I like reading on my tablet, but I also have a 1920x1080 portrait monitor for reading. Either or really.
>>
>>115146448

My nigga. Those superior scaling algorithms doe.
>>
>>115143461
Getting your hands on original art pages. Managed to visit Akira exhibition with all of original pages on display and boy, it was amazing.
>>
>>115147250

Also use prefect viewer here, only toruble I've ever had was reading Berserk, those fuck huge scans made it lag and crash an awful lot, though that was probably just Android.
>>
>>115147180
I would use it with a stand, and yeah, it can fold backwards.
It'd be vertical 4:3 monitor with a not-all-that-shit resolution.
>>
>>115147344
PV on N7 was always sort of laggy for me.
>>
>>115147393
>4:3
Ehh, I don't know if that's good for manga reading, though. It wouldn't take up the whole screen for sure.
>>
>>115147415

That's what I'm using too, it's the newer N& model too by Asus with the 1080p screen IIRC. Works fine for pretty much everything except scans with pages 3MB in size, then it has trounble.
>>
>>115143461
Either book or a display.
Tablets and eink readers are shit for manga because you can only look at a single page at a time.

>>
>>115147502
>because you can only look at a single page at a time
tablets and einks can handle double pages though. They are rotated instead of being split. You might have to zoom a bit sometimes though.
>>
>>115147560
Only problem with ComicRack is with very long vertical Webtoon pages. If not for this, would be perfect.
>>
>>115145442
Not him but kissmanga might be the least shit online reader there is if you have adblock and noscript installed. Load the entire fucking chapter at once and scroll down. No need for greasemonkey script to preload entire chapters.

>>
>>115148023
I mainly just use kissmanga because they don't seem to give a fuck about licensed stuff and crunchy rips. Also no fucking "wait 10 hours to let all pages after 1 and 2 to peer to our server farm while we show you an empty page". The only thing that annoys me with kissmanga is that empty black box that adblock doesn't remove. One day I might write a script to remove.
