No, /a/ hated it because it is mostly fanservice, which it is. Gary Stu MCs like this are much different than Tatsuya because they are played for laughs, while Mahouka takes itself seriously and is shit because of it.

I doubt people forget the anime as a whole, but I lot of the detail tends to slip your mind when you watch boatloads of other anime and a substantial amount of time passes.

As far as re-watching goes, it's just personal preference. Some series are worthy of a re-watching, this had its moments. I don't particularly care for re-watching stuff, but it tends to happen on occasion regardless.

It ends right where all of them return with Akatsuki to the world where the demon princess came from.

It indeed begins to get good; the demons don't want to fight anymore, but are being set up by humans who want a war anew. Akatsuki, once the world's hero, is now siding with the Demons.

It still has some fanservice; Akatsuki ends up returning to his part-time job as bouncer/massager for a brothel. Miyu and Haruka end up having to work as maids for the brothel wearing lewd attire.

Anyway, it eventually wraps up nicely, and this time they return with Listy (blonde princess) to the normal human world, where more events unfold regarding the shadowy organization behind the magic towers.

Yeah, I remember some of that outline, and the shadowy guys involve Akatsuki's onii-san and father. IIRC, as hax as Akatsuki appeared to be, those 2 could still shit on him. New Game+ mode isn't so hax once you unlock new enemies.

More like if it isn't stolen, it's destroyed along with what she's wearing. Funnier still though is that she seems to have gotten more used to it, though she still goes ballistic when she loses them.

Hagure Yuusha is still my go-to example of wasted potential.

The premise is an interesting twist on the usual setup. Hell, it's got multiple cool bits, from the demon lord entrusting his daughter to the hero, to the fact that this happens so often there's an actual school for returned heroes with magic powers. Miu and Haruka (aka Pink and Green) were also top tier girls that I was more than happy to get fanservice of.

What killed it for me was the MC. I don't care if the MC is powerful enough to not struggle in every fight, I don't care if he's self assured instead of being a cringing doormat. I defended Izayoi from Problem Children and think Tigre in Vanadis has potential. What I can't stand is an MC who's a smug, condescending, manipulative asshole. I also hate it when the MC crosses the line from being confident and charming with the ladies to being a molesting creeper.

Akatsuki was my least favorite character in the entire show, and the fact that he was unavoidable as the MC is what killed it for me. It's a crying shame.
