As much as I am happy that we have finally made it to this day, I would like to honor the anons that didn't make it to see the new ufotable adaptation. Fate/Stay Night is one of the oldest franchises on /a/, and by tracking it's translations, it shows how much we've been through over the years. Has it already been nearly 8 long years?
To the anons that were introduced to Type-Moon with the 2006 Deen adaptation;
To the anons that waited for the Mirror Moon translations back in 2008 (one route at a time);
To the anons that were here when we used to always post Fate and Tsukihime doujins fresh off the shelves;
To the anons that were hyped for the DEEN UBW movie;
To the anons that thought UTW was the new messiahs of fansubbing;
To the anons that waited for Realta Nua;
To the anons that lived to see HA get 100% translated;
And finally to the anons that participated in all of those Power Level threads that turned into Waifu wars, as well as all the Waifu wars that turned into Power level threads,
I salute you all. May you all continue your dreams in Avalon with the Once and Future King, have Clocktower Adventures with the Twintails, cook with the Worms, and even making the remaining time that Illya has left the best of her life.
Here's to more Brilliant Days as we Return to the Spring.
I just hope the new adaptation is just flavor of the month so we can go back to having good discussions again, devoid of all these secondaries.
>mfw these newfags don't know the feeling of how good UBW was when it was first translated after Fate (which was considered one of the best things to come out of visual novels)
Saber threads were the comfiest when the only waifu wars was shit flinging among Rinfags and Sakurafags.
I've honestly waited too long for this for anything to ruin my experience. I don't even know if I have the will to live after Spring when it finally ends.
I guess I'll end it once the HF movies are done.
I beat F/SN for the first time September 27th, 2009 (yes I refuse to ever forget that day).
5 years later I love it even more than I did then.
I am glad I am witnessing this finally happen as I have thought about this everyday since the announcement back in 2013.
Though it won't end until HF finally comes out.
The etymology of "Secondaries" comes from the superior ability of these individuals to delay gratification, and thus receive two marshmallows, and highly correlates with success, education, health and weight control.
>In these studies, a child was offered a choice between one small reward provided immediately or two small rewards if they waited for a short period: approximately 15 minutes, during which the tester leave the room and then return. (The reward was sometimes a marshmallow, but often a cookie or a pretzel.) In follow-up studies, the researchers found that children who were able to wait longer for the preferred rewards tended to have better life outcomes, as measured by SAT scores, educational attainment, body mass index (BMI), and other life measures.
It is not surprising at all that bitter "primaries" who are often unintelligent, overweight, and unsuccessful at life, would attempt to turn it into a pejorative. Following in the model of "normalfag".
But by that logic non-secondaries should be superior to primaries because the payoff for reading the VN is longer than the payoff of watching the anime.
I'm pretty I have a screen cap about some secondary who didn't want to read the VN because he couldn't read it while shitposting on /a/ and playing LoL or something like he could do with Fate/Zero
Being a secondary doesn't mean you are "saving" anything. It just means you're a fucking faggot who didn't get introduced to the series until recently, and has not read the source material, nor made any attempts to do so. They also whine like a baby when people aren't paying attention to them in a conversation they shouldn't even be in.
Other way around the anime could very well just be a shitty adaptation of the VN.
And even then the experiment was about delayed gratification which means that taking your time to read something puts you above someone who refuses to do so and would rather watch the anime.
More like secondaries are those that prefers to have some replace your marshmallows with half a marshmallow, while the legit fans get to eat the full mashmallow and still get to have the choice eat the half marshmallow.
Except that VNs are literally nothing more than really shitty budgeted anime with choose your own fanservice juryrigged on
this is like a shitty anime coming out and then a superior one coming out later.
If you're going to try and throw out VN bait at least use 'VNs are just shitty versions of books'. This doesn't even make sense.
I wonder if they're going to remix/remaster New Dawn. What are you guys looking forward to hearing from the OST?
As weird as it sounds this. I realize it only tends to play during SoL scenes so theres a good chance it won't come up at all. I just love this song so much even though its just piano basically. Just this tune alone makes me feel so much nostalgia and its only been a few years since I read the VN.
That piece has to fucking play during this scene. It has to.
For some reason that song still makes me kind of teary eyed.
Guess it was because it played in the final scene of HF, so I associate it with the ending of the entire story.
Fuck last episode
A anon in the last thread uploaded TM relevant links, reposting
All-Around Type-Moon V1+2
TAKE MOON 1+2
Fate ONE DAY! V01-16
Fate Zero Cafe!
T-Moon Complex X 1-9 (complete)
Extra CCC Foxtail! (Vol 1, english)
FSN Xtra Scenes (Taiga and Shirou, Lancer, Rin and Kirei, Gilgamesh and Enkindu, Illya and Kiritsugu)
FZ Servant Status (Powerlevels)
Fate Fan Books (Doujins, funny)
Who knows. People are saying the prologue episode doesn't really use music from the VN, but the first episode does.
>all this nostalgia
Goddamn I want to replay the VN
Assassin's theme always sounds good. It always feels like it can just loop into New Dawn.
You know what? I'm going to do something I should have done weeks ago. get of my arse and finish HF. I've been stuck on the beginning of day 14 because it was wearing me down to nothing, but I will not start this anime without having finished the VN. For that would be unbecoming and fit only for secondaries.
I'll see you all in a few hours. (I hope to fuck I can finish HF before the UBW Anime airs)
>Arata na Yoake starts playing
>tfw you know everything is gonna be daijoubu
>Implying he'd lose if he took that Irish cuck seriously
I'm pretty sure it's mentioned that Lancer is a hard counter to Archer because of his agility and ability to evade projectiles.
Of course it's really because always hit > always block.
Every Servant besides Rider and Caster can finish the war in 3 days if everyone does not expect them coming and the attacker has full prana available as well as all their shit together.
But that's not the point of the novel. It's about the themes of following your ideals.
>Beggining of day 14
That's exactly where I was held for a week
You've completed 80% of the route but have only seen 30% of the greatness that is HF.
Day 14 is like the calm before the massive shit storm.
And when I say "calm" I mean in comparison to days 15 and 16. A lot happens on 14, but nothing to prepare you for the climax.
I think a New Dawn remix played during Prisma Illya 2wei, so it's a possibility...
By the way does anyone know of a method to rip the voice files from Fate Extra CCC? and or provide a gamesave with Saber with all her skills and noble phantasm unlocked? I'd really appreciate that.
I prefer them when they're being sisters rather than love rivals.
That's just the natural reaction of a sakurafag when they get BTFO by a superior woman who is objectively better as a woman and as a life partner who can actually bear children.
Don't start shit. Lets not tear each other apart when we're so close to being flooded with secondaries.
What war? Fate's never going to get covered again so Saber is dead in the water and Sakura will never be popular. There is no war, Rin won. You just don't want to bow to your new queen
Wait until the HF Movie/s.
In the meantime, leave your Waifu stuff at the door, and just bask in the hype with the rest of us.
Rin's my favourite as well, but for a different reason. Her raging bisexuiality.
>Saber is dead in the water
I can't believe it's been nearly 6 years since I completed F/SN
I can't believe I've had Sakura as my waifu for that same time period either...Christ time flies
>To the anons that thought UTW was the new messiahs of fansubbing;
>UTW wont be subbing UBW
Sakura won't get a large bump in popularity because she's a submissive piece of shit. Rin is way better and it's no surprise she is becoming the most popular. Saber is only popular because she's forced into everything, it's artificial popularity.
Man it doesn't matter as long as you read the VN. Only the most snobby of hipsters will shit on you for the order you got into stuff. The important thing is that you read the VN. It's just preferred that you do it first.
FSN anime came out in 2006. People, on /a/, were hyped for it because we didn't have a translation for the Visual Novel
The majority thought it was good until the MM translation was released
He was really a HERO. Do you remember UBW patch release?
Or KnK novels?
>SHIT TRANSLATION HURRR DURRR MUH QUALITY TRANSLATION 8 YEARS
The really funny part is that's
not even the most impressive part of the game.
He's not making this into a general and posting up links to manga for the hell of it "for the newfags so they understand how we work". He's compressing each of the manga into drop files for everyone and just posting new links when he finishes.
You're turning this into something evil in your mind because you fear this becoming a general. This is something he was already doing.
YEAH NIGGER, NOW ROCK OUT TO THE TOTALLY EPIC CROW'S CLAW VERSION
COVERED YOU BRO AND FAST FORWARDED TO THE BEST PART. CHECK OUT THAT SICK GUITAR
New chapter of Fox Tail, now with more sex
>Soon apparently. It's 100% TL'd.
[22:24] <vvav> is it actually a decent project?
[22:24] <Moogy> no
[22:24] <vvav> oh
[22:24] <Moogy> http://nanuneko.wordpress.com/2013/12/25/merry-christmas/
[22:24] <vvav> well meh
[22:24] <Moogy> here's a sample
[22:24] <koestl> its a native jp speaker herkz
[22:25] <Moogy> there's so much work that needs to be done on the editing front that it's basically unsalvageable
[22:25] <Moogy> and they don't know what to do with it
[22:25] <koestl> who's apparently a really nice person but yeah the english is not good
[22:25] <Moogy> the TL itself is done, but it's unusable
Not to mess up your confidence or anything but I found Mahoyo to be pretty difficult and I've been reading eroge in Japanese for over a year now. Good luck.
Yep, it's too bad the 2012 version is one the 3 songs in the Reproduction soundtrack thats infinitely shittier than the original.
The other two are Emiya 2012 and THIS ILLUSION (piano ver) 2012. Fuck the second one especially.
You wanna know, some stupid shit? I found out that Shirou could use UBW, and I knew that Archer could use UBW, yet I still didn't realize Shirou was Archer from the future until I was supposed to while playing the game.
It was one of the few times I'm glad I can be so retarded.
>To the anons that lived to see HA get 100% translated;
you wut m8, is it true?
>To the anons that were introduced to Type-Moon with the 2006 Deen adaptation;
Reporting in. That anime did so wrong, but I believe everyone admits that when it did good it was beyond amazing. The ending sequence before Gilgamesh's death was done very well.
I invite all you fellow anons not to hate too much the eventual secondaries. I was one as well many years back. Not everyone can immediately get into any franchise that quick, especially when they grow as much as the Type Moon ones.
Have some Ilya and fuck that double 'l'" nonsense, I will never get accustomed to calling her Illya.
>First exposure to Fate was Realta Nua in 2011
>No contact with shitty Deen adaptation outside of fight scenes afterwards
>Read Fate/Zero before the anime released
Saber wants to play Soccer in Ataraxia manga
Not that guy but that's because it probably is real novel tier. Notice how the people saying it was difficult were saying that relative to moege which are the simplest things out there
I got into Fate when Animax aired it way back when I was in junior or middle high. I forget the exact year, that's how long it's been, but I do remember that only Fate route had been translated by MM at the time.
Have you cleared Night of the Witches yet? If not then prepare your anus because the magic infodumps/Akasha talks in the second half nearly killed me. I mean it's worth the struggle but just be sure you can do it because it is very easy to mess up and completely misunderstand something.
Yes, pic unrelated. The hard parts of Mahoyo are really the endless magic infodumps in the second half, the absurd amount of completely unconnected foreshadowing for future games, some advanced grammar usage and eking out the context of dialogue if you're unfamiliar with reading unvoiced works.
There are also a few plot crucial sections that are basically 'fuck everything' tier near the end, but I don't think I saved any of those.
The fights also have some really crazy writing that can get to be a pain to read.
Personally I just read Tae Kim once or twice. Hell, I may not have even finished Tae Kim completley now that I think about it. I just listen whenever I watch anime or whenever I'm playing something with Japanese voices. A shit ton of reading and a shit ton of listening has resulted in most all the grammar becoming second nature to me
>THIS ILLUSION (piano ver) 2012
I just don't think that was a very well made piece to begin with. I like the idea of a piano version of This Illusion, but just like, listen to it from a technical stand point. The piano sounds mechanical and basic; no real embellishments or taking advantage of the instrument, and it really shows how simple the core melody is. The chords are chunky as hell too; the orchestration as a whole isn't too great. I know it's synth, but you can put a little extra effort in there. Really it feels like a rough draft.
My biggest problem with the 2012 version of Ever Present Feeling is that the flute is pushed way the fuck back, and that's one of the best parts of the tune.
Can lancer win the grail war without his gay bulges?
>Mahoyo I have to look up something almost every sentence. Its really insane
Well that's how you learn, Anon. You look up moege vocabulary, you learn it, then you move on to more difficult things, repeat...
Read. Listen. Watch. Absorb. Look up things in a dictionary. Again and again. Learned English playing vidya as well. You just have to keep drilling and drilling and fucking drilling more until at one point you realize you're at the other side of the wall and you can understand the language.
That's my method, though. A more intelligent person may laugh at me for being an oaf, but I got the job done at least.
Go read a lot of stuff and see how those grammar particles are used in context. Peruse Imabi while doing so and pick up vocabulary from the games you're reading. If you want my advice, don't attempt something like Mahoyo for a while because you will get very frustrated and probably not understand any of it.
Then once you've got a hang for reading stuff you can go and try to read stuff like Mahoyo, which you will still struggle with immensely.
A Mr. Gamecreater16 dumped a 100% "translation" that the editor was sitting on. Said editor threw a bitchfit and quit.
So for a month we had most of a translation and a bunch of hilarious google translate error.
Thankfully another group from Beasts Lair picked it back up and in a few weeks did more than had been done in years, finishing it
I haven't seen the phrase "babby's first VN" refered to F/SN in a long time. I remember it being the buzzword around the time Clannad's translation finalized. It died it pretty much because of all these secondaries. Come to think of it, secondaries today are much worse than before because they're so fucking entitled. Back in the day it was "fuck you read the VN" and that was it. Now? These fucks literally think it is their birthright that people are suppose to spoonfeed them.
You will enjoy it and crave more, that's where the visual novel comes in.
That's not the question you want to ask.
I'll answer just for the sake of it, because my answer is even more useless.
Basically, eight or nine years of consuming Japanese media, including some 400 TV anime and heaps of music, etc. Learned kanji in these last two years at a snail's pace because I couldn't be assed to keep the pace up.
So yeah, not a useful answer.
>eventually it will click one day and become second nature?
It won't click like a light switch randomly, it will be a slow progression. Over time you will realize you know more and more things that you didn't before.
Well, my autism kicked in and I deleted the post to switch around the quotes a bit, but it seems it was too late.
It's a great picture.
I see. As long as I understand eventually, thats fine.
Yes, basically. You need an understanding of grammar to read anything, and it will consistently evolve into better understandings and more and more detailed comprehension. With the advent of ITH/TA it makes learning and retaining vocabulary a lot easier while reading. You can switch to J-J dictionaries whenever you feel comfortable, but you probably don't need to worry about that for a while.
If you just stick with it and read/study everyday you will eventually get the hang of it and be on your way to reading all sorts of kamige, it really is that simple.
Then when you think you finally have a decent grasp on Japanese, you can try reading something by the likes of Masada and get wrecked like I did last night.
Maybe you're disillusioned from DEEN's adaptions.
Think about the eventual proper adaption of Shirou vs Gil. Each individually animated/drawn noble phantasm. It gives me a massive hype boner to just imagine.
I feel pretty empty usually, not feeling the hype so much, it's nothing strange.
The night when they announced this all it was pretty good, and I know it'll be good when it comes down as well, but I ain't really losing myself until something actually happens.
I'm still in every thread either way, because Fate is always something.
>Illyasviel von Einzbern [Person's name]
>The daughter of Irisviel and Kiritsugu, and one of the heroines of the future Fifth Holy Grail War – this isn’t a lie! Illya’s route exists in everyone’s hearts!
>The original story of Fate had events hinting at this, but in Zero her shocking age issue is very quickly revealed.
>Incidentally, the reason Saber didn’t speak her feelings during the Fifth War was because she had never asked Iri about her daughter’s name, and Illya’s appearance seemed far too young for her to be Iri’s daughter (after 10 years, the child that used to sit on Kiritsugu’s shoulders should already have developed a voluptuous body, that was the reasoning). So, she viewed Illya as an Einzbern homunculus completely unrelated to Iri – it’s definitely not a lame excuse.
Yeah, I think it'll be a long time before I switch to J-J dictionarys, but overall thats pretty reassuring.
>Then when you think you finally have a decent grasp on Japanese, you can try reading something by the likes of Masada and get wrecked like I did last night.
Pffft. Well, shit.
>And yet, I'm not excited for this anime at all. Everyone around me is so hyped, but I feel nothing at all.
i understand how you feel, given how they're adapting the worst route.
Any other fatebros going to the grand final and watching UBW afterwards?
Why didn't Zouken just bought an artificial body from Aozaki and a qt Justeaze clone from Einzberns?
Zero was written after F/SN, call it more of a soft retcon. Nasu never forgets, rather he just weasels out with bullshit and excuses that don't actually break anything he's said before since he's a master at that.
"Well Saber didn't ask the name of Irisviel's daughter, and she should be much older, so she thought it was someone else", this doesn't actually contradict anything shown in the story, which is why he's pretty good at weaseling out.
>But she did see Ilya when she was a kid
Exactly, she imagined that kid grew up, so when she saw someone who was ten years old in F/SN she thought it was someone else.
After all Iriesviel's kid should be much older. You don't realize how her seeing her in Zero is more proof.
You need to work on your game a bit honey. You aren't gonna impress too many people with that.
I guess you'd much prefer her to die within a year and never grow up as long as she's eternal nine years old. Growing up means she at least gives to live that long, but that's secondary to looking cute.
I didn't say it wasn't a retcon. It's just that small things like that aren't really necessary to note because Prequels are usually made to expand on the original work anyway.
Fuck, when are the HF movies coming out for.
I'm hype as fuck for this adaptation and all, but I can't get nearly as excited because I know HF is on the horizon.
I'm pretty much guaranteed to cum a few times during the movies.
See, the thing about KKK is that it's not only hard as fuck to read and full of typical Masada insanity, all the magic and plot has its base in incredibly complex Buddhism and ancient Japanese folklore which you need to actually go research and have a decent understanding of to get the full experience.
Reminder that UBW's patch wasn't even anywhere near 3% complete in 2007.
Basically you are a secondary if you are not a secondary, because most of /a/ watched it as secondaries.
Reminder that Secondary is also synonymous with Shit Taste.
>there are actually plebs who have been excited for shit like this for years
Christ. I played F/SN day 1 of the MM patch. It's a fun VN. Is it one of the best I've played? At the time, when all I had under my belt was Tsukihime, sure it was great. I even thought Saber was an interesting character.
But then the years passed. I stopped being a teenager. I played VNs that were a million miles better than F/SN. I realised that it wasn't even that good. F/Z was fucking better, and it was both shorter and written by a different fucking guy.
I feel sorry for the morons that played F/SN as their first VN. We all joked that it was babby's first VN at the time, but now it's pretty obvious that you guys just can't fucking let go.
An UBW adaptation? Who fucking cares. Move on with your lives.
Automatic translations are always fun
>Voice - Naoko Takano / first appearance - Tsukihime
>Hero. Responsible for the description of TYPE-MOON work. Called "amber-chan" especially in this work.
>I have said hot and story and anime game unrelated to the TYPE-MOON often. Personality of the author is largely reflected.
>Akiba Tono (Tono Aki)
>Voice - Hitomi / first appearance - Tsukihime
>Master of amber. To amber tsukkomi role. Differs significantly from the original, tone has shifted completely to the straight man.
>Voice - Asakawa Yuu / first appearance - Fate / Stay Night
>Sub-heroine of "Fate / stay night". A favorite character of the author, I have appeared almost every time, such as the general >public auditors also introduced after the "stay night". Person has been fed up to the handyman treatment.
>Voice - Kawasumi Ayako / first appearance - Fate / stay night
>The main heroine of "Fate / stay night". Tend to be the unfortunate something outside the scope of this work. Is sometimes >written as "blue" in front in order to distinguish Saber other. It is feeling a sense of crisis in that compatible character of their go-born one after another, you are hostile to Saber other. The Lancelot , Gawain , Red mode and, the Knights of the Round Table tangled with us is also found here and there.
>Also (President Takashi Takeuchi sometimes appearing as) behalf.
>Voice - pine MiYu come / first appearance - Tsukihime
>Sister Amber. I often appeared in such as the absence of amber.
I thought it was a reasonable adaptation of better material.
I'd go for HF>F/Z>UBW at a guess, but it really depends on how well they adapt HF.
UBW is literally just "muh mind of steel".
>without having any actual opinions to back it up.
With nil argument and nil evidence to back the nil opinion up too.
Reading shitposting on /a/ is like simulacra and simulation all along.
This is now a Baldr Sky thread.
Sora is the undisputed best girl and Jihad gets the award for greatest musical placement in a VN ever.
Not that guy but,
Well you know it DOES kind of make sense. How its about Shirou developing his special kind of Reality Marble and inside is a magical factory for producing any kind of Sword, and it frequently makes all those "I am a Sword" comparisons and how he wants to be a self-sacrificing nutjob with a steadfast mentality
MUH MIND OF STEEL
Mind of Steel refers to a bad end when Shirou discards his ideals, and decides to kill the few to save the many like his father had, after killing himself on the inside , AKA: Turn his mind to steel as his heart dies in the process.
It doesn't refer to Shirou's ideals, Archer's ideals, or anything else.
Nasu: Typical Urobuchi... I really can't pull the wool over your eyes... I intended to take that to the grave with me, but I guess this 10-year anniversary is a good place to talk about it. Just like Urobuchi-san said, it's difficult to call the relationship between Shirou and Saber a relationship between a man and a woman. Saber has fought for a long time as the ruler of Britain, but then turned into a girl all of a sudden and fell in love with Shirou. It's pretty ridiculous when you think about it. But I really wanted to push it towards that sort of boy-meets-girl story. So as a last resort, I had Shirou continually say things to her like "But you're a girl," and "Girls aren't supposed to fight," in order to remind the users that "she is really a girl." It's like the author's actually the one trying to convince Saber that she's a girl... I feel like I could have written it a lot better now, but that was the best I could do at the time.
I honestly thought she was handled worse in Fate route because of the terribly written romance.
True talk: Saber is at her best in Heaven's Feel, really loved her dynamic with Shirou in that route.
Mind of Steel Shirou wasn't self-sacrificing though. He was Kiritsugu. He wanted to save as many people as possible, and if that meant killing others to get a net gain, then so be it.
>MUH MIND OF STEEL MUH MIND OF STEELmeans being like Kerry. Completely unrelated to I AM THE BONE OF MY SWORDS.
Stop your damage control already, no one blames you for not reading the VN if only you just have said it.
Was the patch for UBW out 6 years ago again? I'm sure 7 years ago when I first read babby's first VN only Fate's patch was complete.
Guys, Saber is my waifu. Does that make me a bad person?
Nasu: It's true that Rin is different from Saber. Rin is written as a completely different gender. She also has a sort of pride in the fact that she's a beautiful girl. With a girl like that by his side, even an unsociable person like Shirou loses his presence of mind.
Uro: There's yet another different type of love depicted in the Sakura route. It really expresses the dark sides that all women have, but how men can accept that and love women regardless. Something akin to the "dignity of men" comes across.
Nasu: "Romance" is something where a couple blindly pursue each other's ideals. "Love," on the other hand, is something where two people accept each other, including the painful reality that comes with it. There are no ideals to be found there. It's just about coming to terms with reality. They don't even have time to dream... but you can't just keep pushing harsh realities over the hopes and dreams of young people. Let's talk about something more fun!
According to Nasu, Rin's romance has nothing to do with coming to terms with reality.
It's still romance, while LOVE takes time.
Romance is a hot flame of passion burning brightly that could easily flicker out in a moment with the right argument, while love is a colder but strong flame that will never go out.
We see her after she's obtained love rank in Ataraxia perhaps, but as of F/SN it's still just two weeks, to call it love already is to bullshit ourselves a bit. What Nasu is trying to say is that love isn't such an easy and magical thing, it takes honest time to reach that level.
Well that kind of makes sense. UBW isn't about realism, it's about the beauty of the ideal, but there's nothing really wrong with it in that context. Even the future shown in HA it has them being floaty and obsessively in love with each other.
The way you were spinning it it was like you were saying it was negative.
Find a link for Fate/stay night Realta Nua, go to beasts lair and find the translation patch, after that check out Fate/Zero and Fate/hollow ataraxia.
Try not to visit /a/, they talk about spoilers freely.
The new anime is a re-adaption, ignore the old 2006 version. The excitement is the insane budget, but it will be identical to one of the visual novel stories.
>The new anime is a re-adaption, ignore the old 2006 version
The new anime is an adaption of a different route. But yeah, ignore the old animu unless you're interested in our shit taste back then.
I think you missed the point Nasu was going for. He's not saying the romance for Rin will progress to love, he's saying Rin is romance and Sakura is love, hence the question leading into his answer.
This upcoming anime might very well be better than the 2006 adaptation, but it will be of the second route. If it is better, playing might not be essential, but you will still lose out on learning the lore in the way it was supposed to be learned - you know, "what a twist!".
>Heaven's Feel is better paced
Oh you fucked up right there. Heaven's Feel has the worst, most uneven pacing in the entire novel. It was a conglomeration of multiple different routes and ideas, and you could tell. He threw everything he could that he had left over after the first routes, and it left things really hokey in parts.
>Heaven's Feel is better paced
Come on now
>more entertaining, more emotional, more engaging and better written
I actually mostly agree
>Theme is irrelevant.
Theme is a huge point for me in a story.
They're both presented as equal choices, but don't underestimate practical dreams just because they don't sound as exciting. He's a man who had to narrow his field of vision in order to protect what's around him after a situation arose where he could not hold to his old ideals, but he would take on the world itself to protect those few things he loved.
It's a strong love in the end, and it's not hard to understand/relate to having to sometimes change your scope a bit to get what you really want in life. There are times when one must remain stubborn and persist on a way, and sometimes when one must change their scope or lose everything, which is why they are equal.
It's like you people forget the Caster stuff didn't happen until the third to last day in UBW. HF isn't well paced, but it's still better paced than UBW, because at least it builds up the characters in the first act (instead of leaving it until the third) and has action to break up the monotony in the early route.
There's action early on in UBW though. It has the altered Berserker fight, the fight scene in the school with Rin, dealing with Rider, I mean the reason they picked UBW for the anime is because they know the fights stand out more.
And another thing that people always seem to forget about Heaven's Feel, is that it's 50000 words longer than UBW. There's a whole goddamn novel in there that brings the pacing to a crawl in parts.
Just because I prefer the other doesn't mean I don't like the other. I actually like how F/SN handled it. Offering 2 answers for the same problem and talking about the pros and cons of both.
I love Sakuras smile
I love Sabers humility
I love Rins humour
I love Ilyas cheerfulness
>There's action early on in UBW though. It has the altered Berserker fight, the fight scene in the school with Rin, dealing with Rider
And there's more days when nothing happens in UBW than there is in HF.
>And another thing that people always seem to forget about Heaven's Feel, is that it's 50000 words longer than UBW.
50,000 words really isn't all that much when the entire VN is 750,000.
I love Sakura's smile.
I love Rin's humour.
I love Ilya's cheerfulness.
I fucking hate that naive cunt Saber and watching Shirou shove a sword through her black heart was easily the best moment of the VN for me.
>I read the VN before I even knew about 4chan, but I never read the UBW route for some reason
So wait, you only read Fate? Literally why? You do realise that's like walking out of Romeo and Juliet after the ball when they meet each other, right?
>I read the VN before I even knew about 4chan, but I never read the UBW route
Sounds like you only read the Fate route, rather than the VN then.
>And there's more days when nothing happens in UBW than there is in HF.
I would hope so because what the fuck would Nasu be doing if he wrote all that extra shit and there wasn't more to come out of it?
Prologue: 676 pages, 2313 lines and 26246 words.
Fate: 9530 pages, 28056 lines and 299080 words.
UBW: 7221 pages, 22154 lines and 219495 words.
HF: 9206 pages, 37508 lines and 275774 words.
Here's the word count. Please note that the first three days are factored into Fate, but parts should be added to Heaven's Feel due to some changes in the opening days.
Pretty much, 3 routes with completely different events that occur due changes in choices (butterfly effect). They each challenge Shirou'd ideal in completely different ways, and thus in tern his character. Fate route the one adapted in the 2006 anime is the introductory route that doesn't challenge his ideal at all, basically a large amount of infodump, that's why Ufotable isn't adapting it. HF and UBW both challenge it in two completely different ways.
>Fate route the one adapted in the 2006 anime
I'm confident you people didn't watch the 2006 anime. It didn't adapt Fate, it was an anime original route that borrowed more from Fate than the others.
So what kind of extra content do you think Nasu's written?
It's nice thinking of all the shit these TM threads have been through along the years
>Unlimited InSTALLING Works
>Velox's FSN anime comics
>There is no tsukihime anime
>GAR for Archer
>It's shit and other incredible tales from Hiroyuki's comics
>Saber imagedumps break 4chan
>H̶o̶l̶l̶o̶w̶ ̶A̶t̶a̶r̶a̶x̶i̶a̶ ̶T̶L̶ ̶n̶e̶v̶e̶r̶
>Tsukihime remake never
Here is to many more years
of Nasu not releasing anything new and just letting other companies do actual work with his two IPs.
>Is that Nasu's secret message to us all?
Extra is a game all about sexuality, and all of your servants have had experience in bed before, yet you come to like them anyway and grow to understand that it isn't a deal breaker or that she isn't impure(despite being a slutty brown Archer). The ideal that everyone might have experience, everyone can have a fetish, the physical part of love isn't evil but just part of the same coin, although if brought to complete excess it will lead the soul astray and bring ruin perhaps, and everyone has some parts of their soul that they can't let others see even if the truth will bring them peace.
You might consider it that there's some themes that are Anti-Otaku throughout his games.
Although the final CCC ending is about someone who's spent their life online ignoring the 3D whores and getting together with pure 2-D waifu instead. So maybe this is a mixed theme. Although if you look at it another way the 2D girl and the main character who was fake up to that point finally become real, as they have completed their journey and become human in the truest sense both spiritually and physically. Both of them got the most development out of this, they have been tested as fakes, called fakes, but in the end they proved they were real as they gained "understanding of self".
So there might be levels to this.
Dunno, he's definitely a guy that moves at his own pace or ideals in a way.
>cat ear shiki
I am SO fucking ready for all the new and rereleased Fate merchandise
The hype is fucking REAL
>started palying VN
>after 10 hours or so got bored of tones infodump and generic characters and dialogues
>ask /a/ when does it get better
>"uhh Fate route isn't very good, neither is HF but UBW is the shit"
>to reach UBW I need to suffer through 50-60 hours of shitty translated eroge
Why's it considered masterpiece again?
>I would like to honor the anons that didn't make it to see the new ufotable adaptation.
Talks of war and Ebola on the loose in the area after someone spread it in Dallas. We could die at any time, so lets burn brightly until then and keep hope alive.
Keep hope alive that we'll see UBW anime, we'll see Heaven's Feel movies, one day Mahoyo will be translated, and that one day we'll play CCC in English.
>The hype is fucking REAL
The hype died way back when the Fatemilk started with Ufotable's F/Z.
I actually determined to not involve with any Fate/* thing ever again, but this UBW adaption brought me back.
