They're better in the sense they're literally the original Japanese names, but from a translation standpoint I'd argue the fan localization is better.

Fu Girl literally does mean Rotten Girl and is a play on Fujoshi, the joke being she isn't Fu Girl because she's a female otaku into BL and shit, but because she's into zombies, amazing rotting zombies. The joke works well in japanese as Fu Girl, but makes no sense in English because the fuck is "Fu"? Rotten Girl is a harmless localization that makes the joke have sense and stays true to its meaning.

I tried the manga a couple times, read I think 3 volumes, it was alright, but for some reason I could never really enjoy it all that much despite how cute it was. Never really made me laugh or chuckle or anything either.

If you know your shit, you can see that by the studio alone, this will not be a high budget show. Nonetheless, Shin-ei does have a good track record of adapting works.

Area no Kishi, Seki-kun and Kuromajo ga Tooru were not by any means the prettiest shows around, but they were very solid and well executed adaptations from their source material.
