I find I consistently forget the names of things I have watched, so I will have the image of it in my mind but not be able to name it, adding it to MAL or something like that really helps when that comes up. It gets hard to remember everything you have seen when it is spread out over 10 or so years and nearing the thousands.

I tend to download an entire series. As I watch and episode I delete it from the hard drive. Since the only way to rewatch it would be to re-download I tend to only watch things once.

I used Notepad for the longest time until recently, when I realized there were a bunch of OVAs and specials that I missed, so I tried out MAL to keep a better grasp on things.

Is there any way to make my profile private? I disabled everything I could but I didn't see an option to hide my profile anywhere.

I have a similar problem on a smaller scale. I only really got into anime about a year and a half ago, and I have about 50 series downloaded that I haven't seen yet, but never get around to watching. If I see an interesting anime I haven't downloaded, I get and watch it immediately, leaving my current backlog to rot.

I finished college for software engineering and I created my own application in C# where I save shows that I watched into database using MySQL.

It was a good practice anyway.

Why would it? Just edit the secondary titles of the anime in Taiga with the name of the folder and Taiga will detect the folder and you can open them through it, and as long as you don't have retarded names for the shows it should be fine too.

It can be troublesome to remember the titles of anime if you binge through a series in short order so there is that as well. If your watching from week to week it isn't much of a problem.

MAL because it has some custom tags. I take em from anidb and Mangaupdates and also link separate titles of the one franchise together. It's very convenient for marking up something I want to watch or read in the future.
