Even though I know it's for insecure faggots like you to save old images.
time stamped said it was posted 7 years ago
Even electronic brain elderly.
Remember demotivationals? I sure as hell don't have about two dozen of them in an archived folder that I'm too lazy to delete.
not exactly /a/ related, but I have a few
Who cares? Some of them have aged well and are still pretty good.
They died out for the same reason courage wolf and rage comics did, they became too popular outside of 4chan.
I figured they died because of how dumb they are and how over saturated they became.
That said, Demotivationals still are being made deep in the faggiest depths of the internet.
God damn I remember that. It used to be posted non stop.
>Not renaming your files so you look like an oldfag
Yeah. There was about an eight to ten month period where /a/ was nearly unusable thanks to spam. People complain about CAPTCHA but I don't miss 75% of the board being anontalk and wikispam and 4chan.js shit.
Look at this now is strange. A lot of characters have changed. Sakai Yuuji for example became a badass who murdered a whole bunch of people.
No, it is a proof that 4chan actually grew up, got past its "lol so randum XD" stage and became more mature (not counting /b/ and /soc/) while the rest of the internet is still in their rebellious teens.
I think this day was the highest point of the spambots.
anon i wish i could have told you /b/ was good. sure we made a few good OC and a few good threads but dude, its /b/ we're talking about.
yeah something like that, around 2009 was just when i finally understood the retard that is /b/ and could post without being called a fag. /soc/ was definitely after though i didnt care to google it to get the EXACT year
Joined as in, stopped posting on other boards, and remained on /a/, I was a /b/tard doing 'epic' memes for a half-year or so before that.
2005. The first anime I followed week to week with fansubs was Ichigo Mashimaro.
Reddit has been around for almost as long as 4chan has. It only became big and full of immense faggotry in 2010.
>Do NOT star flame wars with other boards. Everyone is intitled to their opinion, I just don't want this board being crapped up by 12 year old losers going on anti-4chan jihads. Before you link on another site, think to yourself, "Is this post provoking I guess I could take out 'EAT SHIT LOSERS 4CHAN4LIEF!' part..."
There was a time when /b/ was full of assholes, and occasionally you could find shit that would absolutely get you banned if you posted it anywhere else on the internet. By 08, most of that was on its way out. At least now, if someone sees /b/ on your browser they won't take one look at it and wonder what the hell is wrong with you. Which is a little odd because there wasn't so much child porn on it. Or stolen celebrity nudes, whatever.
I still remember a time when tumblr wasn't fully shit and 4chan actually liked them.
Back in 2008-2009 (?) there was a pseudo tease war which was cute as fuck.
Tumblr only got fucked around 2010-2011.
I always remember it as being the ''female version of 4chan'' but now it's just shit.
My earliest memory of /a/ is a Saturday, /a/ was the first to break out the spoilers of FMA's second to last episode in the English speaking anime community (before that we had to wait until someone subbed an episode many days later), things got out of hand and moot got angry for some reason.
We got spoiler tags a couple of days later.
Well at least /jp/ is relatively subdued nowadays since all of its old tripfags left.
It's still shit
I don't even know why still have /jp/ around, I mean /a/ has VN, LN, and etc threads all of the time. Touhou is also no where near as big as it was back during 07, so at best it'll just be another general here. I don't see a purpose in the board anymore.
When's the last time he did something fun like that? I remember that time he posted that clip from terminator and posted something at the top about 'doomsday' or somesuch, and that seems like the latest incident.
Fate/zero and Madoka aried in 2011.
Will we ever get more BADASS MANLY ANIME REVIEWS?
All the fucking hype around Madoka on /a/ was ridiculous. People were hyping it more than a year before it aired, /a/ practically cummed itself at the thought of an Ume Aoki/Shinbo/Urobochi team. This was before it got super popular with the tumblr/reddit crowd and all the 2ch viral marketing drama.
Whatever happened to these amazing crossboard combos?
The fem/a/non does raise an interesting point.
Never forgot why flat chest is best
This is the most forced shitpost I've seen yet.
I wish I was a child of the trough
Pedobear's animal friends have been all but forgotten.
>New Persona4GA anime gets announced this year
>"Gee, that's dumb the original anime series came out like just last..."
Oct 7, 2011
Jesus Christ, where does the time go?
Never forget that poor anon that downloaded lime subs and ruined his relationship with his sister.
It was harder to find fanart in general then. There was no saucenao or google reverse image search. Pixiv didn't start until 2007 and it was set up to make it hard for non-japs to use for years after that.
Not exactly that old but it was very memorable.
This happens to everyone. 2011 was an amazing Anime season.
guess I've had this trip since 2009
Remember how much /a/ used to love this show.
Yeah i mean i still have this. /a/ has changed but a lot of this is still true.
I could whip out my trip from 07 but I really don't want to have to use that.
I don't start shit like the other tripfags
>mfw there used to be a tripfag circlejerk irc to discuss how to shitstorm /a/
Please, Please. Does anyone have any of the screencaps from the blog where he was fired?
Was that shit even real. I always had a sneaking suspicion he was a ruse master.
Oh shit, and there was that 'Burn Kuroneko! BURN!!' video that I think was on his Youtube. I would blow someone to see that video again.
>You remember when 4chan picture filenames were at 11-
Man i wish i saved that,was gold.
Have some more old fags stories though.
>tfw I had a CD I burned with my TTGL era OC and the entire series of Blame! back when I was too poor to own an external drive or even buy a real computer
I found it a few years back I think
Too bad memery in general became such a cancer, I miss /a/'s photoshop threads and
/v/'s mspaint comics we would always hijack
Yeah, but most people knew it wasn't that popular and alway appeared in the seasonal fake chart.
Until one day it was actually real.
It was one of the many series our based saviour Hox translated for us in our most dire of times
Then the ending was awful and Yuki never developed as a character and we all did our best to forget about it
Then it got animated
One of my earliest memories is from Saimoe 2007 finals between this bitch and Nagi.
I voted Nagi, she deserved it. ;_;
>Somehow years after this you actually want to cosplay as a girl and get fucked by a guy
4chan made me gay ban 4chans
I'm actually bi and only like guys for their body and dick but hey, close enough.
Realize i have a lot of tripfags getting banned.
shit, i got cringed reading that SOPA/internet died comic even though i used to think that was godly.
it's not that old though
No it was like this one but with a loli
I'm still surprised that things like Mega Milk and O RLY owls have died.
I thought those would last forever.
Our ancestors truly were faggots.
Did you miss the rampart sniping by every other faction except Higurashi's (mainly because it didn't exist)?. Rika's victory was a message from the world to Japan to stop taking the tournament so seriously.
I joined /a/ after browsing /b/ for a year back in 7th grade. Spice and Wolf S1 just started and I watched the first three episodes during a giant snow storm... holy fuck I just realized I've been here for too fucking long. Holy shit what have I done with my life I've been on this site for almost 7 years.
>Don't forget you're here forever.
Ain't that the truth.
I feel lucky that I migrated from /b/ just in time for Geass. Didn't some guy RP as Clovis back then?
Mega milk is still alive in Drawfag stuff IIR
But ya last one.
Night my oldfag bros.
subway shops are a whole different chan epoch from delicious cake
I hope Saimoe just dies this year (or did it die already I don't know). Seeing the thing degenerate into a Madoka vs Saki contest with barely 200 votes in the finals is just painful.
I know someone did. Everyone fucking loved Clovis. Remember when we rigged the Bandai America poll to be Clovis, Rivlez and I think someone else before Lelouch and Suzaku.
I am pissed I can't find that web page, even the shitty author of the poll was hyped by his landslide victory.
Well gentlemen, it was a pleasure to talk with all of you but I have to work in 4 hours and I need to sleep (really getting to old for this shit. It was nice to see a tripfag from ancient times still around (he still sucks dicks).
Until the next nostalgia thread, fags.
There were a lot of Geass RPers.
I still remember the fallout from that Gino RPer during R2, who got an 88 GET one time. Suddenly roll threads with "55 gets raped 88 survives" in the OP were posted 24/7 until the mods banned them.
Fastforward to the present and KoG is dead and "dubs" are posted without opposition.
/b/ was never good but it was a lot more tolerable in my opinion. Whenever someone says "/b/ was never good" they are overlooking a bunch of things. One being that roll threads and trap thread and furry/MLP shit are relatively new. Sure there was furry back then but they stuck to their own threads instead of making multiple ones. You could actually get banned for posting furry at times. 4chan was much less popular so you could actually have a conversation without it being bumped off within minutes. Because of this threads back then were less click-baity.
The biggest difference is that there were a lot fewer boards back then. People really did use /b/ as a random board when the topic didn't really fit anywhere else. Now that it's easier to find dicussion more relevant in its place, nobody comes to /b/ for it.
For some reason I don't have #3
That's the one!
>KoG is Dead
You son of a bitch.
Everybody around back then remembers that, but who remembers this?
I'm going to come right out and say it: I don't like the catalog.
Rather than needing to comb the first 2 or 3 pages actively to pick up on threads of discussion and actively participate in the board, you can just use a quick search in the catalog to exactly what you want to talk about and tune out the entire rest of the board.
I dislike that threadspam is no longer a thing because everything just gets shunted into 1 thread through the catalog until it dies.
I dislike the mob mentality that we've lost, and the lack of active engagement in browsing through a board through the catalog, rather than through the pages themselves. It feels like we used to throng the streets in excitement and shot our voices over one another, just to be heard over everyone else thronging the crowded streets, and shouting, too. Now it feels more like sitting quietly in a few separate rooms together and talking bitterly about the people we're stuck in the room with.
Jerry: Oh, come on, just tell me your code already. What is it?
George Costanza: I am not giving you my code.
Cosmo Kramer: I'll bet I can guess it.
George Costanza: Pssh. Yeah. Right.
Cosmo Kramer: Oh, alright. Yeah. Uh, let's see. Um, well, we can throw out good anime immediately. That's too obvious. And no shonen for you, you're a cute girls man. Alright, let's go deeper. Uh, what kind of man are you? Well, you're weak, spineless, a man of temptations, but what tempts you?
George Costanza: Huh?
Cosmo Kramer: You're a portly fellow, a bit long in the waistband. So what's your pleasure? Is it the bouncing boobs you crave? No no no no no, yours is a DFC.
George Costanza: Get out of here.
Cosmo Kramer: Oh you may stray, but you'll always return to your dark master, the loli.
George Costanza: I'm leaving.
Cosmo Kramer: No, and only the purest waifu can satisfy you!
George Costanza: I gotta go.
Cosmo Kramer: If you could you'd guzzle it by the gallon! K-on! Milky Homes!
George Costanza: Shut up!
Cosmo Kramer: Lucky Star!
George Costanza: Shut up!
I agree. The post notification thing, I think, adds too much individuality to posting, at least to the perspective of the poster.
I've noticed a shift in the attitude of posters here over the past several years. It hasn't been something drastic or damaging, but I definitely feel that a lot of the usability changes that have come to the website have been driving a shift in the tone of posting and the attitudes of the people posting here, whether by attracting a different kind of new poster or simply changing the attitudes of existing ones.
This post is wise. What would you like to see happen to make things better?
>the "someone replied to your post" thing
Is there something wrong with it? It's so exciting to see. And the updater?
I thought it would be ONII-CHAN~
some of my earliest /a/ memories was Anime Expert and his stupid faggotry.
I also miss spamming PORN WITH PLOT since all the typemoon fags on /a/ apparently have dwindled over the years.
moot here, as judge and grand overlord of oldfagness I declare your time with us to be insufficient to warrant such a level of prestige and recognition.
I think the differences between "in response to 'anonymity'" and the "entitlement" blog post are pretty interesting, as are the attempts to pretend that the former never existed.
>all the typemoon fags on /a/ apparently have dwindled over the years.
Are you kidding me? If anything they are stronger than ever. I think we have more TM threads than Eva threads these days
I think I started browsing 4chan around the end of 2009, I recall Railgun theads about the last filler arc and it seemed(to me) like the gorespammer and Lanced Jack/Taiga debacle had stopped not too long ago. It took me while before I dared to post, I think the first thing I posted was making a thread on /jp/ asking about which copy of F/SN to download, they were quite helpful about it. Good times.
>stop making threads.
They're so autistic that they literally won;t stop making new threads, one after the other, 24/7, always filled with the exact same image dumps lifted directly off of pixiv, the same shitposty "all cracks are crack" "homu did nothing wrong" "I want X to kill homu for being bad" etc. etc. When they actually discuss things, they repeat the same discussions from the madoka airing threads, which were like 4 years ago ad nauseum and then just go back to shitposting and imagedumps.
Those madokafags are the 2nd most cancerous and autistic faggots on /a/, right after SnKfags
>Anyone who remembers /l/ will tell you it got filled with actual 3D shit.
would you believe that still happens some places? I got really used to never seeing any of it and when I went to check out other chan sites that shit is worse than ever.
I don't save or even remember a whole lot of what I've seen here, but I do remember that thread. IIRC the original pic was from some sort of anti-pedophilia campaign.
God damn, time flies.
I feel you. I started browsing around 2006 but I never posted or even saved pictures because I was afraid that mods or my parents would find out.
My oldest saved reaction images start with 128.
I think i've just gotten too old to care about shitting their threads. Before the talk use to be about how fukken deep TM shit was so naturally I wanted to shit up their threads with PORN WITH PLOT spam. All the plotfags probably left /a/ and an hero'd themselves sometime later.
Nowadays from what I've peeked in on, it seems like TM threads are just waifuwars and general shitflinging. And thus, all was right in the world.
no, that guy who gets reposted with a daki in public was melonpan. he's a swiss-kraut dude who is now apparently married or something. To a 3D woman.
gonna try dumping in order...let's see if i can get this right.
The index is very comfortable to browse late at night, when one has had enough of skimming OPs they don't give a shit about in the catalog.
The difference between browsing the catalog and the index is the difference between hurrying down a street while glancing at the facades of houses versus actually having a look into the parlor. Those five posts of discussion below the OP make the place seem more like home.
But one is usually so eager to find threads with OPs they care about immediately that they hunt through the catalog impetuously until they can't take it anymore. I would imagine that makes for more than a few irritable posters.
Combine all that with >>113749163
and you could a serious case that the catalog has lessened the overall fun of this place.
That was a great thread. I remember making this image for the thread using Paint Shop.
The funny thing with siztra is that I was at ground zero when he first posted on /a/.
Got invited from steam into madoka threads and then decided to fuck around afterwards.
Fuck that guy, at least he's gone now.
That is correct, my mistake.
I actively avoided generals when they first got big, and only really remember them for that massive shitstorm we had when we chased them out the first time.
I used to read all the posts in a thread, or at least skim them, and recognize when one of my posts had been responded to by the content of the post.
Nowadays I only really read the posts responding to mine, which a little notification informs me of, without even reading half of the rest of the thread
>But Madoka was the first truly cancerous General thread.
What is K-On
What is EVERY ANIME HAVING A FUCKING GENERAL THREAD SINCE 2009 WAS THE WORST FUCKING YEAR EVER AND YOU LITERALLY DON'T KNOW SHIT HOLY FU >One Piece (????? Wan P?su?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Weekly Sh?nen Jump since July 19, 1997; the individual chapters are being published in tank?bon volumes by Shueisha, with the first released on December 24, 1997, and the 75th volume released as of September 2014. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, a young man whose body gains the properties of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit, and his diverse crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates. Luffy explores the ocean in search of the world's ultimate treasure known as One Piece in order to become the next Pirate King.
>The chapters have been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Production I.G in 1998, and an anime series produced by Toei Animation, which began broadcasting in Japan in 1999. Since then, the still continuing series has aired over 600 episodes. Additionally, Toei has developed eleven animated feature films, two OVA's, and five television specials. Several companies have developed various types of merchandising such as a trading card game, and a large number of video games.
>The manga series was licensed for an English language release in North America by Viz Media, in the United Kingdom by Gollancz Manga, and in Australia by Madman Entertainment. The entire anime series was first licensed by 4Kids, which due to poor reception, shifted in 2007 to Funimation for an English-language release in North America.
>One Piece has received wide critical acclaim, primarily for its art, characterization, humor and story. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including highest initial print run of any book in Japan and the first book
Been around since 2008, but couldn't really find an image that truly embodies that period.
I remember 5 gets being a thing though, and a weekend where we all made images like this off of some website.
I never knew there was one besides the Ouran one.
