>[HorribleSubs] Argevollen - 09 [720p].mkv
A bit behind it.
Around the place where the knife hit...
It looks inconsistant from ep8's kill.
This wouldn't happen if this had Break Blade's killshots.
It is fishy indeed. On one hand, it could be an inconsistency an, on the other, the short-haired girl kind of got a motivation now.
Then again Tokimune did capture the Bro dude in the past ep thanks to his precision with the Argevollen so he could have aimed at a control computer to immobilize the target. Either way Tokimune got himself a new -cute- FOE.
I sorta like the booby trapping of corpses and the other guerilla tactics... sorta took this show to a level of war not seen in most mecha.
Solid ep... though we don't see the qt jamie this ep
>booby trapping of corpses
I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure that's a major break of the Ginebra convention, and the first of the show if I don't remember wrong.
After all, the ones removing corpses/injured are usually medical personnel.
Anyway: I got a big "Blitzkrieg" feeling from the base pannings.
And CGI soldiers look better than animated cell ones.
>>Solid ep... though we don't see the qt jamie this ep
It was an ep with the point of view mostly on the other side so that's to be expected.
Why does everyone in this show constantly sound like they're on the verge of suicide? This entire conversation was hilarious.
I wonder what that "Axis invertion" (which the word Argevollen presumably precedes) is.
Was it a political axis or a mechanical one? Maybe they've just been battling because they can't agree on dextrogyrate or levogyrate.
>all that different perspectives this episode
>MC still gets his ass beat by any pilot more skilled than him
>jews are still controlling everything from the back
It's been a while since we got a mecha that's as focused on military and politics as this one.
It was pretty nice episode, It's slowly getting better but I don't think it'll be a mecha show everyone will remember.
You knew when the tag went on the drink he wouldn't make it back ;_;
>>but I don't think it'll be a mecha show everyone will remember.
I probably remember it as the Front Mission anime it never was but if Argevollen does keep getting better at this rate...
Pretty good episode and the OST was nice as well.
The guns seem to be really inconsistent with their power. One episode the bullets seem to be nothing more than an annoyance and then another episode they're taking down enemies without much of a problem.
There was inconsistency in the episode itself. When he start shooting the major's mech the blows off after a few rounds, the it absorbs the rest of the magazine like he was firing BB's.
Samonji is also better at using the Argevollen: Rush it to the enemy base to scare the enemy lines into disarray -> Have it taking shots from the flanks -> Finish the job with the real troops.
Tokimune getting better as a pilot is a nice bonus.
I knew as soon as they randomly introduced a new character just to give backstory to richtofen that he was going to die, sooner moreso than later.
Being a randomly new character in a show is a pretty big deathflag.
Also, cheap tactics by the designers. Because of sameface and because we had few reasons to give a shit about the new people, they were pretty much designed to look like ones we already knew. The major was a dead ringer for the other guy.
Dang. Ingelmia got wrecked in this episode.
That would work
This could be a pretty obvious hint that they just took the guy POV. Though, if he died, that wouldn't be that odd either. If a tank gets hit by something that penetrates the armour, the pieces of armour don't just vaporize. Instead they turn into shrapnel that shreds everyone inside the tank. The same thing would probably happen if the nose of your mech is blow up. Shrapnel flies into the actual cockpit and kills you.
It's good that they are keeping things morally grey between the two sides.
Ingelmia seems to be some sort of dictactorship but many of the characters on their side seem to be alright folk who are just doing their job.
Richtofen has been handled really well in that regard - he manages to be somewhat relatable without becoming any less of an antagonist
>heard about this show on /a/, it's not very popular but some people are liking it
>give it a try
>first episode is bretty gud
>the MC is okay
>overall I liked it
I think I'll continue the ride, thanks!
For real. You can't just randomly give an episode trying to make the opposing side seem sympathizable this late into the show. These people have had zero characterization and at this point I don't care about their suffering or problems.
While I don't think that's a bad idea IMHO I find it more honest to start from the place they did.
Wait a sec... Isn't this supposed to be a continuous 01 to 24 episode run?
>How's the MC's personality in this show?
first two or three eps i was ready to gut him and strangle him with his own intestines... thankfully the rest of the plot and characters were just interesting enough to keep me in it. He's got a lot better since.
>Buddy Complex, the 2nd cour will be summarized in 1 or 2 OVAs given how terrible the pre-orders are
Buddy complex ended with to be continued, from which /a/ assumed it will be another season. Even though Sunrise never said if it actually will be another season, or just movie, OVA, special...
Argevollen is confirmed for 24 episodes in row.
God, I love this show's battles.
Finally a show where conventional military assets, like tanks, artillery and infantry is actually useful vs the mechas.
And real tactics being used to engage and destroy them - obvious tactics, such as RPGing their fucking legs.
The mechs in general are great. Very down to earth and not too overpowered, even the MC's special snowflake.
Too bad about all that QUALITY, though. This show deserved better.
Very much this, specially the MC mecha: It's not OP yet people is starting to make will rumors/stories about it that go beyond the actual impact the unit has. After this battle the rumor mill may actually go even more out of control with people saying that the whole base got destroyed by the Argevollen alone even to it's job was to rush around the place shooting randomly to look menacing.
>>Too bad about all that QUALITY, though. This show deserved better.
After a closer look, yeah, there was a tad of that and while I think some could have been handled better, they did a good job of convening the whole picture. The visuals may have not been up to par but any viewer could understand what was going on and the impact each piece had on the whole. And that's is something many an anime can do right.
Look at this screen shot. The liquid isn't even coming out of the bottle.
This is inexcusable
Actually, TBH, one of Argevollen main 'problems' is it's consistent lack of battle damage of any kind be it in people or in the war material. They try to dissimulate and lessen it by many means (The RPG to the legs part? Hide it with a lot of smoke instead of showing a ripped off leg!) but it's clear that they simply don't have the time/budget to add it into the mix. Having said that, I still respect the job they are doing all-around and understand their decision to concentrate their efforts elsewhere.
I liked how she only 'spoke' one line (next ep title) in this episode.
Err.. The Argevollen is rather the exception (so far) to this as it has been heavily implied that the standard fire arms a mecha carries (SMGs or even assault rifles) are not enough to actually go through it's armor. Every other mech takes accumulative damage from continuous bullet hits until it's too much to stay standing as it happened to Tokimune in the very first episode.
Even if the Argevollen does not take any damage, he has panicked from that since the beginning. it's a hang over from his TK training.
It was specially apparent on episode two when a simple anti-infantry spread put him on the defensive even when he clearly was, quite literally, beating the enemy with ease.
Does anyone else find the OP animation to be extremely awkward? The song is great but for the visuals all we get is a bunch of weird, close up shots of the characters and a white background.
The only part that feels right to me is when the chorus comes in with Jamie running, and the spinning shot of the main character piloting and screaming.
I too liked the OP better in the first versions.
I thought it was fun how they linked the visuals with the song a few times, like Argevollen firing while the back up repeats a bark and Tokimune mouthing the words at the end.
But yeah it looks a bit weird, maybe the close ups of each character go on for a bit too long
He cared for her enough to actually comment on the sunflower field. That's something coming from someone like him.
Funny that only (parts of) the Alliance think that the Argevollen is dangerous and are moving out of place because of it.
Gonna give this show a shot, When I saw pictures of it I though this and AZ were the same anime.
Why? "Because the Nazis do it" isn't a good reason. Maybe the building owners did it on their own.
>>Jap censorship strikes again.
This, they don't want to take unnecessary risks.
Argevollen was confirmed for 2-cours since the beginning no matter good or bad the sale is it will keep like that. M3, the Fool, Space Dandy and Captain Earth aren't selling good too still got 2-cours because it was confirmed since the beginning. Buddy Complex is doing better than that in the term of sale. But since they never said it will be 2-cours they can just create whatever they want as the sequel. Also Buddy Complex sequel is 2-episodes tv special not OVA.
>>Also Buddy Complex sequel is 2-episodes tv special not OVA.
Weird, I was sure it was a complete cour.
I knew this face felt somewhat familiar
>>only the animations are quite mediocre.
Is there a chance that they will fix the various minor mistakes like >>112862745 in the BDs?
This show confuses me. It's improved so much in recent episodes that I have to believe that whoever is behind this production had to be aware of how badly they were fucking themselves over with the terrible first few eps.
Not enough Jamie in this episode
I think it's gonna be an Argevollen, cause the Kievernas (did I write it right) corp looks shady as fuck and don't forget that the complete name of Tokimune's Argevollen is Argevollen Stabilis Prima. There might be another types of Argevollen.
I think what'll happen is that the consortium will have another prototype project given to the Ingelmians. Both sides will then create a mass-production machine and shit will escalate.
Eggmaster didn't tell the cake about the fucking enemy princess being among their midst and only got lightly scolded.
Rat got into a mech while supposedly having no training and while there were trained soldiers that could've gotten in instead and nobody even mentions it.
Yeah, no other anime actually shows just how important coordination and tactics of larger formations, as well as combined arms warfare is. Not even the vaunted 08th MS Team.
Argevollen is pretty much the first ever.
Doesn't seem to be much unless you don't really care about quality.
Good one, thanks.
Sad about that. Lot of the people in Argevollen deserve a good art.
Nope unless you count her saying the next episode title.
I thought of your post from weeks ago about how to use the Argevollen as if it was a game, protecting it while the pilot is inexperienced and you just need to complete missions but gradually turning it into a key component in the battles.
Truly this is the Front Mission animu.
Oh god imagine having hot sweaty sex with her in the Arg cockpit right after a battle. The taste of her slick Jaimiebreasts in your mouth while her hot Jamiebut muscles clench beneath your hands as she rides your smelly cock. Then as you both come together with tense muscles relaxing and sweaty burning bodies cooling you exchange intense kisses between gasping breaths and finally as you sit together she whispers in your ear:
former soldier here.
I hated that smell.
I could clean my BDUs, my weapons and myself, but could never really clean my load bearing vest/plate carrier and other stuff.
Shit's so disgusting after a few month, it is just turns into a white mess of purgent smell and salt. Not moe at all.
Another character going after the Argevollen because of REASONS.
It is indeed and you really don't need to set your FM goggles that high for that.
As for the Argevollen/Tokimune combo, in my in-game mind, we are at the advanced part of the second phase were the pilot is finally getting a bit reliable with it's movement an his shooting even without special weapons(*). You now can use the unit more daringly but not too much as High XP units are still a problem to land hits on and you simply don't want to risk a Game Over on that.
At this point the battles are still 95% normal warfare with combined arms tactics and the Argevollen begin most useful at making the AI do wrong moves by over-reacting to it or simply causing units to dash out of the way.
From here things can go many ways indeed as external factors to the unit start to interfere be it with your unit selection or by giving strange missions/objectives to you. During this Tokimune is starting to get oddly good with the Argevollen to the point that others are worried about the depth of connection he has with the mecha... And this is the cue for the heavy plot-related missions to hit the fan.
Always the jews.
Jews were responsible for the axis inversion, the destruction of the old world as we know and the new world order of perpetuated warfare between small fractured states against each other, so that they can sell weapons to everyone.
And above them, throne the lizardmen.
>>And above them, throne the lizardmen.
Too much tg/ in my mind so I heard Lizardmen as the WHFB variant.
Because of points of view.
But I doubt this is that kind of show, it's probably about which side is less douchy/has less assholes (unless they are the ones that fucked the axis).
Glad I'm not the only one.
better than usual Jamie hairstyle.
Awesome realistic rock-paper-scissors things that happen. Booby trapping corpses. Mines fucking everywhere.
He's awesome. I wonder if his poetry contains something about his kills? Like each kill = one poem about it.
He probably has national library-tier collection now
And I like that. He still has his habits from where he was "killable".
And even if it isn't affecting "white plates" part then it could damage sensors( I suppose they are the blue glowing thingies) and that could be bad for him and the mission.
>I hope senpai actually notices me
Major guy? I don't know but it was mentioned fuckton times that most of upper tier guys got promotions because of the Krieg piloting.
Even the fucking MC is doing this only to get high and get access to secret files about his sis death.
I loved that they actually animated how dirty they got or how torn the uniforms/clothes get between each resupply.
And behind the sunflowers the Captain is silently rooting on MC and giving him advices with voice so silent that dense MC thinks it's his intuition.
Truly the best commander ever!
They also seem VERY close to Jewernas Corporation. Other countries get simple mecha and ammunition.
They got prototype uber-mech.
I like how they even made knife deployment available for both arms so you can even get it with one arm. No shit like "you need to get it from the other arm.... shame it got blown away with it"
I'm wondering where it will go from here. Was it just me? because the preview was that they got a surprise attack in return targeted at the Argevollen which makes sense given the many factions within the Alliance that want it.
This show is really weird. On one hand it feels so incredibly boring and mediocre, but on another hand the military scenes are realistic. The drudgery of waiting, moving, waiting for the next meal, being angry about the commander telling you to pack things up. Being dirty because there are no showers...
And the military tactics. The series has completely missed air forces though, which is really weird considering the technological level of the settings. I guess they'll just ignore it altogether. I mean, is this some sort of bizarro world where they didn't invent flying? I guess air superiority would make for boring mech battles? I'm imagining the cast seeing the first man made flying object ever and being shocked.
Oh, I'm also loving the various establishment shots on the different cities and their populace. We're not given much background information, but the world feels real in a weird way. How the good guys' capital is surrounded by hills and forests to
Ingelmian commercials telling people to buy war bonds. Feels really weird how some cities don't seem to be affected overtly by the warfare and have the ability/resources to have the kind of civil society that would even make buying war bonds optional.
I feel that trying to make the other side more sympathetic at this point of the show is kind of late (and various scenes like the
old guy being all "I'm menacing because I shoot well at a range"which in your average anime would be taken at face value where-as here the cast basically laughs behind the back of such a trope.
This show gets so many small details right I can't help but smiling about them. I'm also thinking the entire setting and story would probably work better as a visual novel, tbh. The show is trying to cram in all these little details that make me nod in agreement but it can't possibly keep doing this without pacing issues.
TLDR: Possibly the best mediocre anime I've watched.
>The series has completely missed air forces though, which is really weird considering the technological level of the settings.
Look at the sky. There's definitely a reason there.
>>On one hand it feels so incredibly boring and mediocre.
>>TLDR: Possibly the best mediocre anime I've watched.
I can see from where you come from on this but it may be that the fact that Argevollen is not trying to be over-the-top at anything in order to stand out that makes you (like many others) think it's just a mediocre thing to be ignored in favor of the newest fancy light shows that most animes are now days. You do, however, notice the attention to detail and the setting in itself so (unlike many other) you get a call from a series that has what many others don't have: A complete picture.
Admittedly is still too early to make a call on Argevollen (see >>112910887 ) but I really like what I'm seeing.
I often see people in Arg threads complaining about how seemingly useless the rifles are but if you think about it, assault rifles and especially SMGs don't have all that much penetration power, which when going up against heavy armor is important. So basically only the howitzers and tank guns can pierce Krieger armor making the rifles for anti-infantry and light vehicles. However, while glancing shots may not kill a krieger I bet the force of impact is enough to seriously disorient the pilot to the point where they are useful in that regard. Also you never know when you'll get a lucky hit between armor plates or something.
Just like HMGs and Autocannons aren't very effective against heavy tanks, krieger handheld rifles aren't going to be very effective against said mechs
Even if they take away some flexibility, I would definitely go for an Argevollen Figma.
>>especially with longer shows. It does happen.
This is what gives me some calm as it is indeed a bit too early to tell how this anime will do.
Let me tell you why.
As someone who watched this thing for one episode and dropped it.
The MC is a fucking retard. Every second I heard his stupid ass ignoring logical orders to do stupid shit that is then rewarded because of deus ex main character powers I felt like puking.
Any self respecting person who cares about some semblance of intelligence from the MC will drop this.
Not the mention that hoe looked equally autistic and dumb.
I mean, character development is only like one of the main pillars of story telling. He's gotten, and getting better. If you're seriously that impatient you've probably missed out on numerous great stories
>>As someone who watched this thing for one episode and dropped it.
Dude... You are missing out but with that short attention span I don't think you can get this series.
