I'm going to be real with you. I enjoyed 02 and what it offered. I didn't enjoy Hurricane Touchdown because between it and the Revenge of Diablomon, at the very least, having a corrupt Digimon being born on the internet that causes mass destruction by hijacking phone lines and missiles makes more sense than having an unknown virus infect a Digital Entity in the real world, where the movie takes place. The Diablomon movies gave us Omegamon, and that's infinitely better than what Hurricane Touchdown had to offer.

Wallace, overall, doesn't really do much as a character. The plot of Hurricane Touchdown overall was boring and was shoddily put together, by comparison the Diablomon's movies. I'm only saying that because you're bringing that up for comparison. Wallace, as a protagonist, while realistic as you put, ultimately is boring.

But honestly, in my opinion, the execution was ok and satisfactory. Even though as a series it only brought another type of Monster battle show.

Zero Two on tne other hand, it felt rushed. I remember when I was a kid I grew up with the Latin American dub and after having watched the last episode of Adventure, I got surprised when I saw the preview of Zero Two after the credits.

Then I learned years later that Zero Two began a week later Adventure ended. They made the milking way too obvious with Zero Two by putting aside what made Adventure a solid series.

Good thing that Konaka and the producer of Tamers got back with the idea to treat the show as more than only a 23 min ad.

Since he was introduced as a new MC I hoped he would get decent character development, but I feel they overplayed the whole "I'm an idiot that makes mistakes but means well" angle of his character. After inheriting Tai's legacy I hoped he would eventually become competent but he turned into more of a running joke.

And I know Takeru was kinda paired with Hikari in adventure, but him constantly being jealous cause they were close was pretty annoying too. I feel like they easily could of made him likable but fucked up pretty hard

Another problem with the character was precisely his one-sided beef with Takeru. When one of your few stock recurring actions is being an ass towards a guy whom the audience has known for longer than you and is mostly portrayed as being chill and likeable, that is not putting you in the fast track towards fan appeal.

Generally, it seemed the writers just jumped over the whole "writing" bit and just dumped powerups on his ass in the hopes of getting kids to like him because he was strong. Which in turn backfired even worse because the audience just saw a a guy being rewarded for jack shit in opposition with the development the previous kids needed to undergo to get their evolutions.
