Lets have a Manga collection thread /a/.
The only manga I own aren't the type you display for everyone to see. You put them in a box for them to never see the light of day again and only talk about them when you are anonymous.
Thisis the last of my physical purchases. Takes up too space so I started buy more and more digital.
I used to have a lot more (all of FMA, Rosario + Vampire, and 17 volumes of D.Gray-man) but I sold most of it. I also have a few more that I didn't include, most of which are misc. volumes I bought in high school, nothing that's worth showing off.
I love the old Viz releases from the late 80s/early 90s. I have every Cobra release, as well as all of the volumes of Venger Robo (the first volume of Getter Robo Go, not pictured). I'm planning of getting the Lum (Urusei Yatsura) release soon. I also have a few other misc. magazine releases from the 80s.The short manga Oni, by Go Nagai included.
Also supports the localization of more manga. I'm not deluded enough to think I'm supporting the author, but I do want more classic manga released here. Just bought the Kitaro release for that very reason. I'll probably grab all of the Shigeru Mizuki releases sooner or later.
>4 English volumes of Yotsuba and 2 of Yuki-chan.
Uh I just started getting into manga/anime so it's a bit small right now but i'll be adding dragon ball, evangelion, death note, and fullmetal alchemist to it soon.
Mizuki's Hitler is being released sometime. Would be interesting to see his take. Need to grab Showa as well.
As far as classic manga goes, it honestly does better than with scanlations. Tadao Tsuge, Yoshiharu Tsuge's brother, is getting some manga as well.
Not a whole lot, but I really enjoy what I do have. It sure is satisfying buying a whole series.
Still need to read Pluto, Saturn Apartments, and buy the rest of Path of the Assassin. Waiting on the second volume of Me and Devil Blues.
How'd I do /a/?
>I'm not deluded enough to think I'm supporting the author
The authors get royalties based on sales, probably not a lot but it's still something.
If you're buying from the US publishers, you're also supporting the original Japanese publishers since the two major US manga publishers are pretty much US branches of Kodansha (Kodansha Comics), Shueisha (Viz), and Shogakukan (Viz).
Hey, more of a collection than I have.
The only books I have are 4 volumes of that incredibly shitty Eva manga that read like a light slice-of-life rom. Which were given to me for free.
Vizbigs are good quality, the image quality is pretty sharp and the print quality is better than the regular trades.
If you want them you should probably snap them up while they're still in print, because they slip in and out of print and the price starts to skyrocket on the 2nd hand market. The middle Dragon Ball Z vizbigs were out of print for a couple of months and the price for them rose up to $100+ on Amazon Marketplace and eBay. Viz put the volumes back into print, but it's probably going to be the last time since they're angling to have the new - inferior - omnibuses replace the vizbig versions.
I should probably get around to importing Boku Girl vol 2.
>>I actually really enjoyed reading it left to right. It really fits the American style
The original trades were flipped, the omnibus version released a couple of years ago are unflipped.
I like you, this is a manga I'd definitely buy.
Think this is a decent deal if I can get it for $30?
Anything missing is either out of stock or publishing.
I like it so much I bought 2 copies of every volume. (Mostly because I'm debinding the copies and scanning them).
I'll probably end up being the provider for vol 14 raws when it comes out like I was for vol 13.
I don't buy manga because whenever I do, my tastes change and I'm left with something I don't want. Last thing I bought was SnK over a year ago when the anime first started, and now that I'm off of the hype I felt back then because of how badly it turned out, I don't want it anymore.
Umineko and Battle Alita Master race
Difficult to see the jojo behind everything
>really want to get into manga
>series I want are either partly OOP or were never finished in English
>others are censored because they're popular
>end up buying tablet and reading scanlations or kindle versions with shitty res
>still not as comfy as having a book
maybe I should just learn moon already and import
>all those figs on the desk
I would be terrified of accidentally knocking them over.
I'll be buying a lot more at the end of august.
Don't really have much.
Now my book collection on the other hand is decently sized.
I think so far only the first one is censored (misprint I think). And they still haven't done a reprint. Though, given the sparse release schedule I doubt Viz gives a shit anymore.
The full color editions are super nice, but that's only the Saiyan arc and the dialogue still has Piccolo's goofy speaking pattern. And Popo's lips are still colored in black, but that will probably never change.
That's really cool that you're supporting some of the newer stuff. GJ
The first three LH omnis are behind Oreimo and SK. Haven't gotten around to buying the fifth one yet.
I'm importing the Amagami LGO trio since they're cheap as hell; waiting for the first two in the mail.
i got the third one first because rihoko is my waifu
one day I'll update this picture but I had to box my latest manga instead of shelfing them.
Plus Onepunch-Man, some Matsumoto Taiyou stuff, and about 15 volumes of Baki.
The blurry ones are Gintama and Bokurano. Twin Spica under Pluto.
Old picture but haven't bought much lately.
NY Bookoff, ebay, imports, and 3 trips to Japan with large suitcases and no souvenirs for anyone.
>Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl
Anyways, you're animepro/10 and you know it. Nice collection, some great stuff in there.
Also fairly balling.
Can't fault you for anything there really, just could be presented a little neater if anything.
I wan you all to judge me and judge me hard
>Ground Control to Psychoelectric Girl
I need to find the time (and money) to buy the Japanese bluray box that came out recently. I bought the NISA version cause it comes with a bunch of artbooks and wouldn't break my wallet.
Final. I have so little shelf space.
Too bad I don't read moon. My country has imports restricted, and even though books are excluded from that restriction, I still got Spice returned with no notice. I am now ordering it again but it has a month of delivery time, and I dont think it will get here. I'm about to give up but...
My entire collection.
pls no bully.
They really do have nice sets, I just hate how gigantic the boxes are considering I have a BD/DVD tower full of stuff and they have to sit on top and out of the way because they stick out horribly otherwise.
It's a seriously pretty-looking set. One of the few I have almost no reservations about dropping the 200 bucks for (which is dangerous.)
Glad to see it get a box set after all this time, too.
Do it anon
>no OG tokyopop spines
Guess I'm getting to old for this.
Sold my collection at the last Colossalcon anyway, only stuff I have left is a couple Love Hina books.
I'll buy the whole thing someday
>Piccolo's weird dialogue during the Saiyan arc
>Censorship on censorship on censorship
>Missing color pages
Being an American DB fan is suffering. That's not even counting the shit Funi has pulled with the anime releases on this continent
The first 16 are relatively untouched on certain printings and more recent ones for individual volumes. Whereas the 3 in 1s are as well (except for the 1st). Only things always censored are Popo's lips and the nipples on the busty chick Oolong imagines.
And all of the 21st World Martial Arts tournament, excluding the first fight. In fact, it gets all the way up to when the reach the pirate cove with General Blue.
I only bought it because it was the only one they didn't have at the library when I was in middle school. I should buy the others one day.
And this is some of the stuff I had to box in plastic trays that taking up my floor space. I've been mostly lately buying manga/LN of recent series that I've liked. Going to buy a set of Majimoji Rurumo and Sabagebu later.
LH, Chobits, Alien 9, and Azumanga were pretty much my first purchases back in the day, hell I even have some of the comics of LH and Sailor Moon. I wanted to get KareKano, Fruits Basket, and Berserk, but never got around to it. At least Berserk is more or less around still.
I have almost 800 mangas, in this picture there are a few of them. I have brazilian portuguese, english and japanese mangas.
Haven't had a source of income for very long, so my collection has only just started.
Yes I plan on replacing DBZ 4 - 9 with vizbigs
I really wish viz hadn't labelled the later volumes of Dragon Ball as Dragon Ball Z
collecting about 4 years now, started with Gash Bell because I started learning Japanese at the same time and it had furigana. Then it spiraled out of control from there. I haven't kept count of the purchases lately but I figure it's around 1100 volumes or so now. I've been buying a lot less manga lately because room really is just my bed, books and my computer. And I've been seriously considering moving the bed out.
>I really wish viz hadn't labelled the later volumes of Dragon Ball as Dragon Ball Z
Makes me kinda salty. Did they really think their readers were that pleb that they couldn't figure it out for themselves?
Refer to pic
no pic since im kinda old and dont really need a smart phone but im collecting knight of sidonia, dorohedoro, the flowers of evil, dragon ball, and ive got terraformars and arpeggio of blue steel. got lucky and found a place that had berserk vol 4-6 for $30 total, cant wait since it was dumb luck to find a place that had them in stock
its scattered all over the house plus more in storage
One volume of CCS.
One volume of Nichijou.
Two volumes of Negima.
I'd buy my manga if I could go Book Off and pay $3~$5 for a volume instead of $15+ each including shipping.
>I only have four manga in print
is there anywhere to get manga for extremely cheap? I want to get more I just don't want to pay 12 bucks for something that takes me ~10 minutes to read
>I was under the assumption most /a/nons didn't hate snk, death note, FMA, etc
Good heavens, who or what gave you that impression? Better fix it.
I'll tell you what to do: You stop posting right fucking now, get some fucking taste, observe how things run 'round here, and then try to post again.
Protip: /a/ will often dislike talking about entry-level crap series like the ones you mentiones.
Except FMA. Everybody likes FMA.
Pretty damn outdated picture. It's missing 2-4 of High School Nep, R;B1-2's artbook, final novels of Haruhi and Book Girl and first volume of SnK
It really bothers me how some volumes of S&W are taller than the others.
I have a tiny collection.
I really need to get another set of shelves.
>not just look at the pretty pictures
>mfw my reading for comprehension speed is around 1000 words per minute
>mfw I can skim read an 800 page book in about 20 minutes
reading is all I have, and all I do.
This is an outdated picture. I've got a bunch of new stuff but it needs some reorganizing.
If you're a troll, you got me, Anon. 7/10.
If not, yes, dubs are disgusting. How'd you like some fat Indian homeless dude dubbing your opera? Because that's more or less what you're getting with anime dubs, Anon.
Not that you can't like things. You can like whatever the fuck you want, but be prepared to be met with flak. And for good reason.
Nice Halo collection.
The Fall of Reach is my most favorite read out of the novels. Too bad Nylund didn't write all of the books. You needa get Contact Harvest
Halsey's Journal is pretty fucking good too.
Only added the new Mizukamis since last time and got the new Kiyuzukis lined up for september.
Haven't bought a lot of new ones for a couple of years, seeing as I'm running out of space...
Just the latest additions to the library.
I'm still missing 2 Planetes volumes, 3 Otoyomegatari ones (just picked up the serie) and the final of Monster.
All ordered already, but whatever.
After i'm done with catching up/filling holes i'll start gathering some Asano stuff, i'm lacking his works in my library and that's a shame considered it's all published already here, more or less.
A little mangas published in Poland :3
I don't know, while for instance 20 paintings or 20 carsdo make a collection, manga or even let's say video games don't really. It's just too cheap and common. I can't really explain it, sorry.
This on the other hand, >>111585899, is starting to qualify as a manga collection.
>usually complain about editors/publishers formats and fuckups here
Now everything i see here looks masterfully crafted compared to those NGE volumes.
>Yeah, I've been giving away a lot of my manga.
Same here, but for a different reason.
Got rid of 100ish volumes (and have more yet to take care of) of manga i bought when i was starting collecting and weeabooing, and that now i don't like anymore (or downright hate) or i don't like that much to have in physical form.
And the collectors corner.
Not really up to date, but I'm too lazy to tidy up and take more pics.
That feel when no Book Off in the UK.
Life is suffering, anyway I picked these up last time I was there, going again in January and I can't wait now that I know what I am looking for and where to find it.
The first volume of Jojo, Punpun and the Strike Witches novel came from Kinokuniya I think it was $20 all together for those.
I live in the north and not London. Are you sure about this? When I asked the staff if they had any plans to open one in the UK they said the didn't know.
Anyway if you can't make out what that novel next to the Strike Witches book and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is it is Legend of the Galactic Heroes book four which I picked up for one dollar. First edition too I think.
I-I got Fairy Tail as a present, I s-swear.
Pretty much stopped collecting, as it got too expensive. Looking to complete Pluto and continue Billy Bat sometime however.
This is One of my booksheleves and months old.
I keep my serials too.
mad props man.
2/10. being soft.
yo broski. does the kyoukai no kanata manga have nice artwork? i will buy it if it does- akihiko a qt.
they buy the cheap magazine with cheap paper, and throw it away. buying tanks/bunks whatever is if you actually want to keep it as a kind of statement or to collect, but even then yes a lot may be thrown away.
plzz that out of order sidonia is hurting my eyes and buy the rest already.
this is comical.
also can i ask why have you spent so much money on translated manga.
wow so europ
like surely if theyve spent so much money they obviously care about manga?
if that is the case why havnt they learnt some japanese and buy the japanese superior products?
laziness? anglocentric arrogance?
Ah, BR manga. I'll reply with what I have in my collection here, since you also have some of those miserably thin volumes.Don't have pics and some of the BR manga has gone missing underneath tons of gaming magazines, books and other comics or is still in the country of purchase (since I don't live there, only have relatives there).
-volume 62 and 64 of Shaman King, bought in Liberdade in pre-release and a Dutch volume 4
-Buso Renkin volume 1 (BR)
-Hellsing volume 1 (BR)
-Black Lagoon 1 (BR)
-one or 2 volume ones i don't remember the name of(BR)
-one volume of HxH (BR)
-volume one of One Piece (Dutch)
-Dragon Ball KZB volume 4 (br)
-all of Ultimo (EN)
-the Kakashi Gaiden Naruto volume (BR)
-Blue Exorcist volume 1 and 2
I'm gonna look in my pile of bullshit entertainment to see if I find some of the BRs back.
The little i can tell (regardless of complete or missing volumes):
Akira, Bastard, Otoyomegatari, SlamDunk, Berserk, MPD Phsyco, Trigun maximum, Aku no Hana, Gantz, some FMA, Crying Freeman. Guessing Hoshi no Samidare and Air Gear, and i'm sure as hell i know the serie in booklets with blue spine near Otoyomegatari, but don't remember what it is.
How many of there are wrong?
My manga is in this massive 200lb/90kg box because I just moved to a new apartment. Don't want to take everything out because it's 4:30am, but here's what's on the top.
>if that is the case why havnt they learnt some japanese and buy the japanese superior products?
Is this a bait? The English versions are generally of considerably higher print quality. In Japan, manga is literally like toilet paper, made to be thrown into the trash after one reading.
I am learning Japanese and have a few series in Japanese for practice, but I only buy manga that doesn't have an English release, or art books.
Also I have like 200 Mickey Mouse italian comics, if anyone is interested.
Everything is right, the blue ones are Tenjou Tenge, Inferno e Paradiso.
There's also at least Prison School, Kouko no Hito - The Climber, Berserk, Adolf, Blame, Biomega, Video Girl Ai, Captain Harlock, all Satoshi Kon, some Igarashi, some Asano, some Furuya, some japanese tankobon like Boku wa Mari no Naka 1, Sakamoto desu ga 1 etc.
I really need a book case. Ignore the shitty books and such.
plz you have failed nerdo.
the magazines are made of shit paper
the volumes are not, they have proper isns, the products are regularized unlike english shit, they have obi and tags, and sometimes other material such as every jump comes with jump paradise, some dvds can only be purchased with particular manga releases, they Never have bad formatting, the mistype rate is a order of magnitude lower than english publishers, the price is 3 times or more less--
nigger youre fucking retarded 1/10 made me reply
Some stuff, it's all spread around though.
>Jojo A Go-Go
>cel from the OVA
>bunch of SAS/other figures (20?)
>three t-shirts and a pair of sweatpants
>Stardust Crusaders English manga complete
>the magazines are made of shit paper the volumes are not,
Like I said, I have a bunch of volumes in my shelf right here. The paper weight is probably around 50-70g/m2. You're right, you can't even wipe your ass with that.
>they have proper isns, the products are regularized
Details like this are completely irrelevant to a regular consumer.
>unlike english shit, they have obi and tags,
Which is just useless garbage. Are you some kind of autist who saves his hamburger wrappings too?
>sometimes other material such as every jump comes with jump paradise, some dvds can only be purchased with particular manga releases
Really? Are you 6 years old? Who cares about that? If I want to read a fucking comic book, I'll buy the comic book and not some commercial pandering shit. I'm already past the age where a plastic toy made me buy cereals.
>nigger youre fucking retarded
Wow, I got called a retard by some neet kid on the internet.
Most of them are french ones. There's also a few DVDs, since an entire series cost about 20 euros (~30 bucks) in this particular collection. Figs are on another display.
Quite the heterogenous collection, if I have to say.
That's essentially for display purpose, as I can't really lay them properly since there is too much of them. Lack of shelves is my bane and my salvation, it actually stops me to buy more.
I still wish I could have picked up the limited edition.
Took it again, now it's at last readable.
Some new volumes are coming, meanly my Saki and Tsugumomo backlog plus things than come out in July.
>Start Comics Aria
Now i'm jelly.
I tried to look around for it here, but aside the last 2 volumes (which the publisher still print) it's pretty much impossible to find, apparently.
I'll give it a shot at Lucca, but i'm not that confident to find a complete serie at a decent price.
>full compliment of Aria
Shitty photo but whatever.
Recently added the first of Viz Sig's Monster volumes as well as Pluto.
Going to work on getting 20th Century Boys after that.
Also have Nisekoi on the way.
I got them in Lucca.
I also have the art-books.
Nice taste, have you looked into Tatsumi's other stuff? I just have Abandon the Old in Tokyo on my shelf which still needs reading. I might do that tonight and as a literature aficionado you have some decent taste.
How's that edition of Gravity's Rainbow? I have been building my Pynchon collection at the moment and I just have Vineland along with Maxon & Dixon but i've heard people say there is a definite version of Gravity's Rainbow you should get since a lot of other ones have either hideous cover artwork or they are just filled with misprints.
I really hope Historie is doing well.
If that sells decently enough, and with upcoming anime adaptation, it's not impossible to think about Jpop doing the same think they did with Otoyomegatari (which made them pick and make a new edition of Emma) and finally give us a complete Parasyte release.
We still haven't seen the last 2 volumes.
After 2 different publishers in the '90s and '00 started it and died before finishing the serie.
It would be about time.
here I only have 1/3 of my staff: those on th top are to be taken to my parents house, where I keep most of my staff
My collection, I like to think I have good taste and shit taste
>I got them in Lucca.
How much did you pay, out of curiosity?
As said they're on my "things to keep an eye out at Lucca" list (which might already be way too big and expensive for my wallet, but who cares), but only if i can find at least the first 10 volumes.
And Aqua, maybe.
I don't know why I bought the first volume of so many series, I need to just complete one series before moving onto another.
>That Vol.7 of Is This a Zombie? is slightly taller.
It kills my OCD.
FMA and DeathNote are fine to me. Sure, mainstream as hell, but still good.
Naruto and Bleach absolutely not.
Depends on the serie (like for every author, uh).
I liked most of their works, but Tsubasa RC was one of the worst thing i've ever read.
Nigga I got the first Panini edition of Akira in Lucca for 60 euro in 2011. It costed me less than the new print they released last year. Get out of your fucking home.
>Get out of your fucking home.
I've been frequenting Lucca for few years already, but budget was always thigh and used mostly for sleep/food/travel expenses.
This is probably the first year i have some money to trow at the stands.
>tfw no space anymore
Can't wait for when I finish my studies and move out so I can have more manga
You fucked up, you're supposed to take the train the night before the first day, arrive when they open and grab all the old series you need. Then you can sleep on the meadow near the games faggots.
>Jpop are jews
With Panini in the market as comparison, nobody can be even remotely classified as jew.
JPop volumes are a bit pricey - and often overpriced - i'll give you that.
>Otoyomegatari, Emma and Historie editions all have problems with the binding, they all lack glue.
Didn't have or notice any major problem personally (they do are on the cheap glue/binding side though).
I'm pissed that Historie is released in their minuscle format (and they still charge 5,90 euro for it) rather than a bigger one like Otoyomegatari/Emma on the other hand.
It would fall in long unrelated blogshit explaining why, but i couldn't do differently, as that was for work.
Yeah, the main book is really big and the stand book has a lot of images from the series in it. I bought both art books because almost nothing else JJBA had been released here at that time. Also, even though I have the limited edition of Jojoveller I think the standard has a much cooler looking cover.
There's another artbook from the special Sendai/Tokyo art exhibits that has almost everything from both go-go and jojoveller but it's smaller, lower paper quality and very hard to find under 8k.
You see, I don't give a fuck if I have to pay 1 euro more the point is that I don't want to fucking buy a new volume that has no fucking glue in the binding. That's not acceptable at all. Volume 1 of Historie was ok but volume 2 had this problem. That's why they're jews, not because of the pricing in general.
They should release all those with the Kokou no Hito - The Climber format, at least. I seriously hope Shurayukihime won't have that format as well. Fuck, Golgo had it too, it's almost certain. Still better than nothing, I guess.
Behold the true enemy of OCD!
Welcome to the suffering ride french /a/non.
Don't worry it will become
Are you my friend?
I stopped buying Bleach.
I know that all too well, cher ami.
I stopped buying manga (excluding AgK and two or three other JP series) some time ago exactly because of that.
I stopped buying Naruto and Bleach at least 2 years ago - as much as they hold some "gateway serie in the serious collecting" value for me, i can't put up with them anymore.
I'll probably try to sell them sooner or later, when i'll stop being a lazy faggot.
Oh yeah I remember you weren't you supposed to move out soon ?
And you will need to buy AgK again since it's coming out in France this fall.
Yep mais bon on va pas s'en plaindre on a une bonne industrie niveau manga alors je suis plutôt content.
Eh, italian edition are a lot slimer than yours, but i guess its okay since the price is lower
Yeah, I'm actually surprised you remembered me. Moving out near Cergy next year, I'll get a flat with enough space for all my shit and more. Hopefully fiber connected too. Transferring all of that shit will prove to be quite challenging.
And yeah, I'm ready for my RED EYES SWORD dose. Wonder how they'll translate the name.
Oh yeah Cergy nice peacefull town you won't be that far from me then but I don't know if all the house have fiber.
Let me show you what real alcohol looks like.
Only got a little. it was in boxes so no shelves. Waiting on a load of stuff in the mail too. Now back into boxes before that right tower falls over.
I'm not from murrica. If a publisher releases a manga on USA/Yurop, and it gets good sales, there are really good chances of it being released on my country too. It happened recently with Prophecy, for example.
I guess you were waiting for this, but
>Mount Gay Rum
-to collect them
-to read them in physical form
i bought a few series that i wish i rather didn't, but there are also a few series that i like on my shelves and that i reread whenever i peek into them. (school rumble, blade of the immortal)
and there are many series that i'd gladly fill my shelves with if i had the money to spend.
>i read manga because of /a/
end yourself, pleb scum
Not on picture : whole Ranma 1/2 except tome 6 since it mysteriously disappeared one day, plus everything by CLAMP, cause Card Captor Sakura got me into this mess in the first place, might as well eat the plate. Plus Mushishi, Dogs both versions.
I didn't spend that much money not to masturbate with it every time the occasion present itself
The last volume
3just got released, and I still need to buy it. The first two are pretty good, the story is really thrilling. You could try to read the first chapters online to see if you like it, though.
