>Thoughts on this /a/?
I'm tired of faggots posting this shit every hour.
Yep, I wouldn't buy merchandise at cons and online without piracy. You want to profit? Pander to me. I'm not putting myself out for some fucking nips to sell me a shittier product than the one I get for free.
>stop being a pussy and just watch these inconvenient ads
>prostrating yourself before japanese studios who are only interested in your jew gold
>willing to pay for shit quality translations and encodes
The only thing that could get me to stop pirating anime is if they made a service like netflix. A flat monthly fee for on demand streaming at high resolutions, fansubs supported. Another fee for manga maybe. Unless they actually give us what we want there's no point in supporting their shitty fucking business model. I mean, almost forty dollars for a fucking blu-ray? Jesus christ Japan, that's no where near worth my time when it's that much more inconvenient than pirating it.
Are you high or just being payed? Streaming doesn't work at any quality. If they don't support downloading without DRM there's no reason to support their business model. DLsite does it right, and a lot of people on /a/ buy from them and similar services. Otherwise pirate or import, but supporting CR or Netflix only harms the industry and supports the shitty business model they run on.
Japan doesn't care about any of you. Japanese people make niche japanese cartoons for a niche japanese market, not a global audience with a (low) global pricepoint that wouldn't give them the revenue they need. This isn't like videogames or iTunes. Having simulcasts are already going above and beyond the call of duty, in their minds.
Even their direct download porn has fucking DRM.
The problem is consumer ideologies are so different between here and there that anything they'd try to do would just be shooting themselves in the foot.
I think they do this shit every other year.
They simply do it to try to scare a few retards, like the ones who actually care about this.
Be more concerned when America actually decides to mess with the Internet, because the Media Jews plus the American Government can actually get shit done.
The Japanese can do nothing. They will bark all they want, but they won't bite.
I guess this is going to be another 500+ post thread, isn't it.
I wouldn't watch anime or read manga if it wasn't free, most westerners won't. None of you will ever stop torrenting and start buying every single thing you pick up or watch in backlog, even if it was cheap. Because those hundreds of shows and manga will add up.
Don't forget the only reason we hear about it is because of shills from CR trying to get subs and pageclicks to their "news" article on it.
>5.5 BILLION dollars
From the MPAA school of business I see, the same way that "The Avengers" made no money because of piracy.
>They simply do it to try to scare a few retards, like the ones who actually care about this.
Which is the only reason anyone is reacting seriously to any of this shit. They're newfags who think this is anything new.
This. It feels good to be irrelevant.
Fuck off. we have this thread every fucking day
Remember when a couple of years ago Viz asked Mangastream to take down all their licensed Shonen JUMP series? That's what they did yet they are scanlating them again.
It's impossible to stop this kind of thing. Instead Japan should see the bright sides of it: without piracy, the "Japan boom" wouldn't have landed on West. When I was still a student in the 90's most people didn't know shit about Japan or anime, it was just some country where people have weird eyes and speak some kind of zing zong language. It's completely different now and I doubt this would have happened without piracy.
I've had it with this topic. We've had many threads on this in the last 3 or 4 days. There hasn't been any new information besides people trying to troll people. So why don't we just wait until actual news surfaces that they actually accomplish something? Its like the fear mongering after 9/11 for fuck's sake. Just stop it. Nothing will likely come from something like this. They can't possibly find ways of prosecuting you overseas for pirating anime so stop worrying about it and claiming the "loss" in sales thing is dumb to no court would find that plausible in the slightest.
Until friday I guess we will hear about this legal service but I have no faith in it since there are so many rules distribution-wise. Most likely it will be for just japanese in just japanese.
Remember last year when they arrested GOD and friends for anime piracy. Remember how much that has effected us? Right not at all, because no matter how much they chip away at it it's pointless.
The funny thing is that we're actually a much larger market.
If they were to sell anime at reasonable prices (i.e. what you would pay for your regular BD-Box for an American TV Series), they could cut the middlemen and get plenty of money.
At the same time, I'm glad they're retarded at business, because if they were to exploit the Western market as they could, then they would likely start catering to casuals, and looking at vidyas and comics, they're full of shit.
So, God bless the Japanese, and their retardation at doing business.
It has affected the Western scene. Now whatever BDs the chink uploaders at U2 decide not to buy for the particular season, the show won't get ever get a BD release until at least a year or two down the line, if ever.
>Music has failed to stop piracy
>Cinema has failed to stop piracy
>Video games has failed to stop piracy
>Navy has failed to stop piracy
Why do the japanese think they have chance at stopping cartoon piracy?
This garbage has made me stay away from /a/ for the past month.
this is /v/ tier internet drama faggots. The internet is impossible to police. You'll have to bookmark rexhentai, ZZZsubs, terrible subs, nyaa.pe and abovewater-murky instead, wow! We're ruined!
Can't wait for summer to end.
Why should I pay for stuff I dont want? The less I and people like me buy, the more deprived and pandering anime will get. It's a total win. All I want to see are cute girls doing cute things, moeshit, harems, ecchi and the occasional mindless mecha. It seems the more precarious the industry is, the more they produce what I want. Even if they stopped making anime tomorrow due to a lack of capital, there's still enough anime to last me a lifetime.
Why do any of you retards care/ Why do I keep seeing "Oh well fuck them!!! They should make it easier for me to watch legally!"? You really think anime piracy will die at all? You really think you would ever buy all the anime you'd watch? You really think they'll make it all super cheap for everybody and somehow make their money back? You really think they actually care about western pirates and this isn't just a song and dance like all these things are in every country?
Japanese cartoons are for japanese people, like Bollywood movies are for Indians. They're not going to bend over backwards to change their entire model to try and plan a business model around what the fucking 14 year old narutard named Billy from Minneasota wants in his supercool chinese animes.
Sorry, but nobody will listen.
>If they were to sell anime at reasonable prices
Learn to fucking spell your words, you stupid piece of shit.
And almost all japanese media is like this. It's all just for them. People who think this is like their typical new HBO show or western album or videogame that they expect to be sold everywhere is being an idiot. The fact that they made a youtube video like that is pretty surprising in itself.
The difference between all those things and anime/manga, is that animu & mango are not sold globally, they're sold to a very small group of people located only in Japan and for a very high price, so any advantages piracy may have are rendered null and probably only hurt sales.
Now, if Japan could actually get their shit together and try to take advantage of the global anime following and rework their business model to reflect that, then it probably wouldn't matter as much and they could actually reap the benefits of piracy instead, and as a bonus maybe they could pay their animators enough to live above the poverty line and actually make animation a more attractive career.
This will never ever fucking happen, because the "global anime market" is still too fucking small and will not pay for shit. Like you said, this is not like movies, music, or videogames, which are practically global mediums. This is like a specific genre of videogame and music.
And you forget that cartoons are still for fucking kids, so any animation media like this will never, ever sell on a global market any more than it is right now. What they make then will not make up for the loss they'll miss out on in their own home country. We should be surprised it's getting licensed as much as it is, even if they are later down the line (and are still insanely cheaper than they are in Japan). We could still be living in the 80s and not even have ever heard of anything but 1 OVA a year.
Does China have any simulcasting services?
I didn't know that China was considered one of the biggest offenders, maybe it's because of the huge population. I mean if they can't get it legit what the hell are they supposed to do?
My name's Matt and I'm a reformed anime downloader. There was a time, not too long ago, when I rushed home from school to check the progress of my torrents with all the thrill of opening gifts on Christmas morning. I compiled series after series, put them on CD and even made my own labels for them with photoshop. But it was a speech made at AnimeFest in Texas by Greg Ayres that got me to stop. I didn't understand just what effect I had been having on the Region 1 industry by joining the ranks of other downloaders out there. The industry was ailing and like a distracted medieval physician asked for a second opinion I was just prescribing more blood-letting. Since then I've reformed and have been buying more and more of the series I had downloaded on legit DVDs. I want to help the anime industry continue here in the US. Anime is an immersive, vibrant, fascinating art form from a culture that, as an outsider, I will never fully understand. But understand the Japanese or not, I love the art form they've created and I want it to continue and I understand that the best way to do that is the buy the DVDs, watch the shows on television, watch the shows via sanctioned websites, etc. I hope this reaffirms that there is a group (perhaps an all too quiet group) who do want to support the shows we enjoy.
I guess this is relevant again. Someone should update it to include something about CR.
Why do you people care so much?
Hollywood is much more powerful and yet TBP is still exists plus hundreds of other trackers.
Gotta hand it to 4chan to make a big deal out of nothing.
With Sadpanda, this,
and the robot being deactivated, you can really see how 4chan can really over exaggerate events.
Hell, there were multiple back to back digimon threads today that hit post limit.
>In 2012 Japanese government enacted a bill that punished both people who uploaded copyright infringing material and people who downloaded the material.
Is this why it's mostly those chinks uploading all the porn these days?
Shut the fuck up, they're not reading anything you write, they don't fucking care.
Stop fanning the flames.
>no decent legal alternative to scans
>says piracy is hurting it's business
What asinine theoretical sales are these? nobody would even now this shit existed if there weren't scans, let alone import a physical copy.
>. They're not going to bend over backwards to change their entire model to try and plan a business model around what the fucking 14 year old narutard named Billy from Minneasota wants in his supercool chinese animes.
Thanks God for this. I don't want niggers, feminist, trans and other shit in my anime
Inb4 tumblr, but thoughts on this?
>There are people defending the theft of intellectual property and think it's funny they're killing anime.
Sometimes I have to wonder why studios don't skip the dubbing process.
Perhaps it helps sell a rematch to a good number of fans, but I think Aniplex, if anything, has a better business model of paying bottom of the barrel because they know 90% of people are going to hate dubs anyway and just buy the BD.
But I think these avenues would be fine if a bunch of BDs and such came out with no dubs in the first place.
They should be after Spotify for fan-uploaded playlists, if anything. Then again, I'm not sure. Maybe the fact that the CD exists in the US doesn't really adhere to the expensive as fuck-all Japanese audio licensing agreements or something.
Stop making these threads. Japs can't do shit about piracy. They maybe, just maybe, would be able to close a few streaming sites with pussy admins, but it's impossible to close torents
>Not wanting to help the creators, instead wanting to steal and help others steal.
Seriously, why do you hate anime so much?
>They're not going to bend over backwards to change their entire model to try and plan a business model around what the fucking 14 year old narutard named Billy from Minneasota wants in his supercool chinese animes.
Well, it would be profitable. I imagine nothing will happen until the anime takes a hold in the West (as it has kind of done this generation) and some Western businessmen go over and broker some deal.
I haven't spend a single cent on any media like movies, games etc since 2004 and I'm sure not going to start buying anime
Paying any less than 10 per episode is inexcusable. I love anime, only some people here.
Why should I care about japanese laws that don't affect me?
None. Nothing. I would not pay individually for an episode. I watch too much anime every season to even consider that.
Maybe $1 per entire anime, and that's only if I had no other options.
I paid 35 dollars for this image anon. Unlike you, you fucking pirate thief.
It's not about hating anime. Granted, I don't condone stealing anything, but there are Japanese studios (primarily on the game side, but still) that actually outright refuse to bring their works out of Japan. I can understand if they had better avenues for people that want to watch things as they come out besides fucking CR(who really just monetized on stolen subs and pirated shows until they decided that the stream service was really the only good way to make the dish. CR probably would have had zero intent in making business partners in Japan if they didn't realize that Netflix: animi edition was the only way to reel in paying subscribers).
I actually feel like Hulu is doing the next best job with the Sailor Moon hype.
beyond the fact that this isnt the first time they've done this and it hasnt effected fan subbing and streaming before the onlything this will realy acomplish in the longrun is strangle the industry on an international level.
Would shit like Fate/stay night, Snk, SAO, Steins;Gate or even shit that flew under the Radar Sedonia no Keishi even be half as popular with out Fansubbing or "Piracy"?
The creators aren't doing shit to get it to us at an acceptable price.
The licensing companies who do try make it far less convenient than pirate sites.
Pirate sites currently offer the best service for the best price. How the fuck can legit sites justify themselves when their product is completely inferior to what fans do for free?
And any sort of gating that prevents me from trying new shows without paying for them is gonna stop me from wanting to try. I gave Chaika a shot because it was free and liked it, but would've avoided like the fucking plague if it cost even a sent. Now there's at least a small chance I'll pay for it at some point. Compared to 0% if I had to pay for my trying it, that's pretty good.
If the western fanbase is completely irrelevant to the anime industry and we just get scraps and are considered an afterthought, who cares if we download?
If I sold an album and only released it in America and some BR copies it, what do I fucking care?
Stupid anon. Everybody knows that pirated = lost sale in a 1:1 ratio. Didn't you read the article? Piracy costs the nips $ billion in lost sales every year.
some people actually believe this
To ravage, to slaughter, to usurp under false titles, they call anti-piracy; and where they make a desert, they call it peace.
Enjoy painting them by hand.
And good luck finding a 3D printer that is good enough to produce stuff that doesn't need any polishing or manual corrections at an affordable price.
Download MMD models, open them in blender, pose them and convert them to STL
god, I thought industry was over this shit
the amount of people who consume pirated goods does not equal lost sales. Chances are they're people who don't want/are unable to pay and if they couldn't get it for free they wouldn't get it at all. And you waste far more money fighting piracy than you recoup from the people who change their choice from piracy to paying.
Listen, im telling you to just ignore the thread because no one wants to hear you bitch. Theres some people here that actually go out and do busy shit. So they dont have enough time to lurk and see every thread on /a/.
>Ignore the bullshit!
This is like the fucking miyazaki threads in january. Repetitive and stupid garbage. You all need to shut the fuck up. Nobody cares about your philosophy on piracy or why you pirate or why japan does anything or who the fuck cares. Shut up.
First 3 episodes should always be completely free, no strings attached.
Episodes should then vary between 1-5 dollars based on production budget and expected popularity.
Refunds should be expected if an episode has absolutely garbage art or animation.
When finished, series should be offered in a bundle discount, with the first 3 episodes still free.
A subscription service should allow you to get 4-5 for free, and discounts on additional episodes.
Episodes should be offered in a wide variety of downloadable, DRM free formats, including at least MKV with softsubs and chapters, in multiple filesizes, and in multiple languages, with 0 attempts at region locking.
Basically, the service should match or exceed what is provided for free by college students on their free fucking time.
Hey, buddy. Have a drink. Relax.
Let's talk about this, ok? We don't have to be mean to people. People can be our friends. Look, they're not always gonna do what you want them to. Sometimes, they're gonna make threads you don't wanna read, and you know what? That's okay. You might see that thread, and think to yourself, "man, that really puts a weasel in my chicken coup," but here, friend, you have a choice to make: you can go into the thread, throw open the doors, and yell, "Hey! I don't want to see this kind of thing!" You can tell OP right where to stick it.
...But you have another choice, buddy. You can do that, you can take the combative route and estrange yourself from everybody here, or you can kill yourself.
Thanks for repeating posts made a hundred times before
>Theres some people here that actually go out and do busy shit. So they don't have enough time to lurk and see every thread on /a/.
If they don't lurk then they can get the fuck off of /a/.
And oh wow, a fucking petition, that's exactly what I expected.
>himado still exists
And now, the only person on the board who cared about this issue doesn't care.
>Basically, the service should match or exceed what is provided for free by college students on their free fucking time.
Impossible unless you're getting figurines or a lot of extra stuff that's worth the price.
Kind of stupid for them to make access to them more difficult.
People aren't going to buy $600 DVD/Bluray sets by imports if they get cut off. They will just scrounge for any that does get localized at all. Preferably anything NOT Aniplex, costing a fortune for a season
One of the techs at a lab I work in does some amazing 3d models. If someone could give me a nice 3d scan of a modern figurine, I could probably print a reasonable plastic replica.
I'm not asking for better than free, I listed some prices.
I'm asking for the service offered to be as good or better than what is provided by kids with a laptop. Valve did it. It could easily be worth it, if it's at a good price. The only problem is international copyright law and licensing, which means the Japanese companies have to be willing to play ball. And if they're not, fuck them. They deserve to have their shit pirated if they aren't vending their shit for its fair value. They're never going to stop it entirely, so they only have incentive to bring the price and convenience to a level where people say "I could pirate it, but it's easier, faster, and more reliable to to get it on anime-Steam or whatever the fuck it's called."
Nothing is going to be changed by this.
> Valve did it.
>They deserve to have their shit pirated if they aren't vending their shit for its fair value
> "I could pirate it, but it's easier, faster, and more reliable to to get it on anime-Steam or whatever the fuck it's called."
Videogames are not fucking anime. Anime are not videogames. I don't know why you fucking /v/tards find this so hard to understand. That business model won't fucking work. it won't fucking work, no mattert how many times you repeat it over and over in these shit threads, it will never happen. Ever ever ever ever. Unless anime starts being as popular as videogames, which will never happen, ever ever ever ever.
You dont understand, 5 billion has been lost in sales.
Because it's a 100% guarantee the people who download/stream that those people would have bought the works if pirating did not exist.
Videogames aren't anime. It won't work.
I pay for steam games for multiplayer, and trading and all that extra shit. There is nothing comparable to that in an anime, and therefore no reason that piracy will not be the better option than paying.
why don't they just
>make a website
>watch at sweet ass anime HD
>no region restrictions
sadly those nips dont care because hurrrr i needuh to selluhh licesinguuuhh
i will just keep pirating if they dont have a legit way for me
See how rough and grainy they look. This is probably very close from what you can get using current affordable 3d printers.
I think things will be much better in 2 or 3 years, the new makerbots that can print at 100nm are pretty great but still too expensive.
I took the pic from this site but I didn't bother looking for what printer he's using.
people don't follow it now, so I guess not.
I never liked the 3 episode rule anyway. Eva's pretty shitty in the first 5 or so
episodes, but then it goes on to be amazing.
Lain is pretty boring up until episode 6 as well, but everything after is amazing as well.
>/a/ - "Our manga sites will never have a problem"
>Mangatraders incident, Batoto removing loli's etc
>/a/ - "Least our porn is save in the secret panda club"
>The great jacob reaping
>/a/ - "Don't worry, nothing will happen to our anime"
>Anime is easier to distribute and cheaper than video games, and would actually benefit more than a steam like system than video games did.
We already went through this in this very fucking thread. You need the volume of consumers to make streaming worth it. Anime does not have that. Videogames do. Videogames are a fucking massive, massive, massive industry, one of the biggest in the world right now. Anime is fucking tiny.It can't do it. It just won't fuicking work. Even with "global anime fans", which is also fucking nothing compared to videogames.
Think of comic books. They can't just go and release all their new releases for $1. It doesn't have the consumer base for it. It's a niche industry. It just doesn't work. It will never work.
>studios: are we winning the war against piracy?
>copyright lawyers: of course we are! it's working great! just look at the numbers!
>assistant: won't they know you made those numbers up?
>copyright lawyers: of course not! they were dumb enough to believe our first set of numbers illustrating how much imaginary money they were losing!
>"Piracy is fine guys! I use napster all the time!"
>"PIRACY IS KILLED FOREVER! IT'S ALL OVER, GUYS!! IIIIT'S AAAALLL OOOVVVEERRR!! THIS IS THE END!"
MT, SP, and everything else are transitory just like every fucking piracy site of the past decade has been. Stop overreacting to nothing.
I love he said "Guyyz-z, I'm not a jew! My nose is big because I'm ilatian"
I don't see what the big deal is. Unless you are some little kid(who shouldn't be on 4chan anyways) you should have enough money to get a crunch subscription. The only people who are throwing a fit are the kids who have to steal anime because they spent their allowance hanging out with their friends at the mall.
No body that should be on /a/ shouldn't have a CR subscription. If you are all Elitists who claim to love anime like you all say you do you wouldn't be stealing.
>Theft of imaginary property
I suppose you think sticking a needle in a doll is the exact same thing as physical assault, too, eh?
Fuck off with your superstitious voodoo magic bullshit, no one else believes in it.
Frankly, I strongly disagree.
The fact that Japan has not sold globally is probably the main reason as to why I watch it.
If anime were to be catered for a wider audience, we will have less lolis, less fanservice, less gore, less fucking everything that made anime interesting just to pander to plebs who spout m-muh children, m-muh privileges.
It's amazing how these old rich suits are still playing catch up with comprehending modern day advancements. Can't one of their yes men sit them down and explain to them the world has changed since the 80's?
How do i genuinely support a series as an overseas fan? Is there a licensed company that releases official scans of manga online really quickly? Cause Viz is slow as shit but their translations are better than most
Going to make a program like steam, where you dont pay for monthly, and only pay when you want to buy an anime. When you're watching it, all your other friends can see what you're watching. Also going to implement a trading system to the program. I can gift you something, or we can trade my said anime, for your said anime.
Everyone that's going to pay already pays for crunchyroll. If you don't have a CR account, you're probably not going to pay for anything else. You'll keep finding excuses about little shit that prevent you from paying.
They're already making all the money that they can.
How many times, how many fucking times do we have to say this.
Everybody watches TV and movies. Everybody listens to music.
Very, very, very few people watch anime. And I mean actually watch it regularly as a main hobby just like TV and music, not just Cowboy Bebop 10 years ago on Toonami. And very, very, very few people will ever watch anime, because cartoons are for kids and will never be as widespread as it would need to. It would never fucking work.
Buy the original products off of japanese websites.
This. CR is fucking it. To put it into perspective:
Netflix: 50,000,000 users
Steam: 65,000,000 users
iTunes: 800,000,000 users
Crunchyroll: 200,000 users
I did, but nothing found about that particular dealing in which anime studio pay for TV time-slot unless you mean the production committee"producers" which fund the whole shebang which was already prior knowledge.
Try thinking for yourself you lazy teenage fuck. If you are too stupid to justify your own thievery, you deserve to get that ten inch dick up your ass when they send you to federal pound me in the ass prison for stealing animes.
Japan is a little late /a/non. B-but they'll show you, th-thieves!
>You'll keep finding excuses about little shit that prevent you from paying
That's not true. I only have one excuse, and that's that I don't give enough of a shit about anime to pay for something I can easily get for free.
Although I do think that anime creators and mangaka shouldn't be losing money over pirating, that's what websites like Crunchyroll are for. The problem is that there are thousands of animes out there, and Crunchyroll just doesn't have them all. This is an awesome form of media that should be shared across the world, and we need websites like these in order to spread around those animes that aren't picked up by websites like Crunchyroll. To prove my point, just compare the anime found on a pirated site, and the anime found on Crunchyroll. Although Crunchyroll gives revenue to creators, has better quality etc, it cannot even compare to the sheer number of animes on other free websites. This law shouldn't be passed.
Imagine your life without Anime, because of Anime I learned a lot of new things, without those pirate release, I still didn't know there's tons of anime out there. Streaming not good, with the definition is so low and blur, just no no. For me, I'd like collect anime, and of course I'd buy those original to keep them, but I can't afford that much, because for a dvd volume BD version, the price is ridiculous at my country. You Japan governments are just begin declare a war toward the whole world's otaku, don't you?
>You can't take our loli Japan!
>You can't take our hentai Japan!
>You can't take our anime Japan!
Gaijin are so learned about what laws should be and shouldn't be passed by the nips. What would Japan ever do without their guidance.
ez math brah
(Number for Conrolls subs) x (Cost per month x12) +(ad revenue) - (server cost+salary+licensing costs for the year+profit reap for CR) / (said number of show license on CR)
Animes teach otaku like us so much.
>shouldn't be losing money over pirating
They're not though. That's not how it works. Do you honestly believe that every person who pirates anime would instead buy DVDs and BDs from Japan if free fansubs weren't available? I seriously hope you don't because that's just stupid. I'm going to take a guess and say that the overwhelming majority of people here who download free fansubs would just go back to playing videogames all day if their free options didn't exist.
>Streaming not good, with the definition is so low and blur, just no no.
Wait, we're back in 2005?
>For me, I'd like collect anime, and of course I'd buy those original to keep them, but I can't afford that much, because for a dvd volume BD version, the price is ridiculous at my country. You Japan governments are just begin declare a war toward the whole world's otaku, don't you?
You're a flipfag. I know it. Please go back to facebook. And do go out picking wars with countries when you know you can't even win a civil one.
Anime creators have no real say in the matter, they just animate the shit.
It's the production committee which funds all the anime that are bitching since its their intellectual property unless you count Original Anime "kyoani's recent stuff, studio triggers". So the committee get royalties and they want more.
I know the 9gag, funnymama and other shit is just bait, but please stop funposting. All you are going to do is encourage actual faggot to start posting that shit and it creates a negative feedback loop where we end up with newfriends seeing it and thinking they can post which causes other newfriends to start posting and on and on.
Anime is important, well for me it is. Because it teaches you life lessons and to be who you are. I love anime and I love how I could watch anime easily just by those sites. Because of anime I got friends, before I met anime I was a loner and so I just have to thank the people who made anime and of course the people who made the sites for letting me watch anime with no problems at all.
The anime i first watch was ''Card Captor Sakura''. It teaches me how important friendship was. Then. the Fairy Tail and the Shugo Chara. My family quite disagree me to watch animes since they think it was ''childish'' and they think that i should use the time I watch animes on studying. Anime really tells me many thing. Anime changed my life. I couldn't know how my world gonna be without anime. It tells me to trust in your team. Clannad are the one who changed my mind so that i can stay happy with my family. Anime is one of my life. Even it does not real BUT ITS ''REAL'' in our otaku's heart.
Anon do you not read 2ch? They say that shit all the time. It is a pretty common sentiment that gaijin should not be allowed to view grorious nipon cartoons.
Meaningless. Some guy in the escapist magazine comments section found the report that METI is using. Then some idiot at the elsword forums who can't read Japanese took a look at it, saw the informational section about various sites popularly used by pirates, broken up into categories like streaming, online readers, and online storage; and promptly copied all the site names into one image and went "Hey guys! I think I found the list of sites they're going to hit!" And no one bothered to question it.
Anon you seriously need to visit the Japanese internets. They hate everything.
But you know, fuck korea. It is a shit hole and it's people are a blight on the earth.
Korea's fine. They are actually a longtime partners for anime/hentai works.
The problem is that the modern social media is making all the racist nonsense flair up from both sides again.
Things were almost outright friendly in early 2000s.
A shame Japan is closing itself to the world once again. Especially with the rise of SJWs and concern trolls attacking Japanese entertainment.
>Over half of US anime and manfa gans watch and read pirated works
As opposed to buying untranslated anime and manga and then never reading it because you can't into moon.
Real fucking classy Japan.
>lose 20B because piracy
>inact anti piracy
>lose 40B because their product doesnt sell
No it wasn't friendly in the early 00s. If you spent anytime on News for VIP you would have seen how the netright were already there. The only difference is the west only started to notice this shit ~06-08
>1960s–1970s, zipper +? head. Used by soldiers during the Korean and Vietnam Wars; multiple theories exist as to the specific origin. One is that if an Asian person was shot in the middle of the forehead with a machine gun, the head would split as if being unzipped; another, that the appearance of tire tracks on a body having been run over by a military Jeep resembled a zipper.
The really interesting thing is that the report was put together by a consulting firm. It's full of pretty charts and shit. I get the impression that the consultants don't have a deep understanding of the scene either.
That is a strawman argument. No one said anything about buying DVDs and BDs. Foreign anime distribution has focused towards streaming. If you torrent rather than stream when it's available, you are a leech. It's as simple as that.
I meant on a more wide scale. The nutjobs online were always there of course. It just seems to have escalated considering social media is so much more robust these past few years, especially in 2008 as you say.
These are upper limits. As in, if, ideally, everyone paid for everything they consumed, that's how much they would receive. Obviously they don't actually believe that in practice their revenue is going to increase by 20 billion dollars.
>Anon you seriously need to visit the Japanese internets. They hate everything.
And I say, good for them!
I actually admire and envy them for not only being so hateful, but being able to be so open about it. Meanwhile, here in the States, I can't swing a dead cat without hitting some hippie who wants to lecture me about diversity this and multicultural that, and how I'm supposed to be ashamed of who I am and humble myself before the foreign hordes. Even a site like 4chan is all "Muricans are dumb, foreigners are superior." I wonder if 2ch bans people for racism.
Seriously I could post hundreds of links but I doubt most of you can read Japanese. The ballonheads have basically made it a national police to try and provoke the Japanese government for the last fifteen years. Any of you niggers that think this is just internet shit are dumb as fuck. I was stationed in korea for two years and this is it. These fucking shit heads are the worst examples of humanity in existence.
You need an eleven IP to post there, but it is totally worth it. You won't get banned unless you post pro-kimchi messages, but that is because NIDA got so butt blasted over some figure skating bullshit during the winter olympics a few years ago that they took the boards down.
I fucking love being a VIPPER. It is what 4chan was in 05. Bitter unpleasant assholes that spend all day enjoying shitting on each other.
Why would you enjoy that? 4chan already gives me an ulcer because the hateful, ignorant, inane shit people spew in every single thread on any subject makes me so angry that I want to reach through my screen and throttle every user who is a complete dickwad... which is 99% of 4chan, including my own self.
4chan is a social club for normies who want to seem edgy by taking potshits at established systems to impress people anonymously and to recycle memes from ten years ago.
4chan a shit.
This initiative is 2 pronged. It's to pressure China ad perhaps improve Japan's trade balance with it. The US is a secondary concern since there's less of an official market for these products.
You know whats better that DRM and laws? Pricing things accordingly and making them easily available. I mean sure you'll still have the people who ">paying for stuff you can get for free" but it'll cut down on a lot of it.
And to translate LNs for you ungrateful fucks.
How long do you have to stay a virgin to become a lich? And more importantly do you turn your daki into a Phylactery when you do become one?
Not paying for something you would never pay for doesn't harm a company. There was no lost sale, because there never would be a sale. You could argue that its immoral to get entertainment from a product for free, but we don't make many laws on morals anon.
You have to realize that most pirates are NOT potential customers who just happen to be broke. If given the opportunity to purchase said item for a reasonable price, they most likely would not anyway even if piracy was not possible.
The only thing bad about 4chan is the fact you can't identify the person you are talking to so you can't hold them accountable for what they are saying. Therefore conversations tend to break down quickly for various reasons. 4chan is no worse than most other places. Hell 4chan is better in most ways because you will get the raw truth out of people without filters which leads to more interesting discussion. This comes to into play with more controversial topics as well.
If you can do something that benefits you and has no negative repercussions, you should do it regardless if it's morally right or wrong.
Isn't this how the world operates?
M.A.G. doesn't care about right or wrong about piracy, they only care about money.
So fuck them.
This, a thousand times this. Its like a shitty video game company trying to blame pirates for their game failing. If people like your shit they will buy your shit. Its as simple as that.
Because I'm not capable of it, duh.
If I had the power of teleportation and shapeshifting and invulnerability I'd steal loads of money.
It's the only semblance of power I can have in my life so of course I'd do it.
Anime is no different than anything else I watch. If I can get a physical copy for $5 from the bin at Walmart, or a sale at Vintage Stock, or the like, then I will gladly pay for it. Otherwise, I'll download it for free.
You missed /pol/ by a few clicks. Off you got then.
Its good and bad really. Do you disagree?
While I do believe that the system we have in place to view anime (torrenting from places from nyaa, e.t.c) is not 100% right, I believe that japan really underestimate just how accessible anime is to westerners. We don’t have television stations that play anime regularly, whether it be the current season (which never has happened with the exception of space dandy, but we got a dub) or just above average anime. What westerners are able to get are bastardized versions of anime that are dubbed over. Most dubs aren’t able to capture what makes an anime great, and in the end of the day a subbed over anime with the original VA is usually the best experience. THAT’S the problem though. Where are westerners going to get official anime with good subs at a high quality? There aren’t stores where we can find official anime blue rays with good subs at retailers unlike Japan. Crunchyroll may say it is 1080p, but it’s not as good as its1080p BD rip counterpart. Until Japan is able to make anime with good subs and high quality that rival the downloads we have now readily available to westerners I, and many others are going to continue to pirate. Also for most people, dealing with websites like ami ami are a daunting task that they rather no try to use due to the language curve.
Yeah, sure, you get interesting discussions but it doesn't even matter because you constantly have 13 year olds like this guy >>111464283
who thinks that spouting inane bullshit memes is actually contributing to the discussion.
Whatever. I'm tired and bitter because I hate this place and I keep coming back to talk about anime and despair at how disgusting humanity is. If you're on 4chan and you don't in some way hate this place then I don't know what's wrong with you.
Unfortunately, there aren't any other decent anime boards out there. Anyway, enough with the meta shit. I'm only making it worse.
It's about fucking time. Japan should go the next step and raise the issue with the UN.
US expects other countries to fight piracy of American content, but US doesnt do shit to stop pirated anime/manga. This is a good first step.
/a/ is really only good for news. Most boards are only good for news. Hell I only like posting in threads about the shows I love. I know about the meme issue. I ignore it. I move on with my life.
>raise the issue with the UN
They would if they could man. But theres no way an entertainment industry is gonna get the attention of the international community. It'd be unprecedented.
This program is just like those "don't do drugs" campaigns from the 90s. Its a message. There is no real power behind it.
No it doesn't. Switch over to the english version of the website select what you want, and when you get to the actual purchasing section you can set it to a foreign address. You can only order books and DVD/BD from amazon.jp with a foreign address though. If you want to buy other schwag you need to visit a buyfag thread. The guide explains how to get anything from Nipon easily.
I have a shit ton of merch of mai waifu that I have order from Japan. It's not hard at all.
>only buying cheap stuff
I sure hope you don't have much money because most people budget 60 dollars for entertainment and not paying for cable makes it really easy to buy DVDs. Just think that if everyone had this mindset the industry would give up
>The only thing bad about 4chan is the fact you can't identify the person you are talking to so you can't hold them accountable for what they are saying.
But that's a good thing.
Good and bad. I mean its nice to know there is something backing up what you are speaking to in some cases. I mean sometimes its just hard to tell if someone is bullshiting, trolling, being stupid and thats when discussion breaks down but its kinda part of the experience. You get used to it and move on.
