Why don't the Japanese ever right good and realistic war dramas? Is it that I've just been brought up in a very militarized and gun loving society and I'm the strange one for wanting them? It seems that more Japanese have gotten into guns recently though as we've seen with things like High School of the Dead and Upotte. They are writing stories for people who enjoy accurate gun things. I still haven't seen a gritty war drama and the closest I've seen is Sora no Wato when it's doing flashbacks to the leaders past.
Is it to much to ask for cute military girls doing tragic and depressing war things?
>It seems that more Japanese have gotten into guns recently
Military otaku have always been around and have sub categories. It's the reason GuP and Strike Witches was a huge success.
>Japs have an unrealistic image of guns anyway
>why don't the Japanese right good
I m not even /k/ here, but design is atrocious.
The magazine stands upright, blocking your view. the woodpiece would rot from sitting on the mud, and what's the point of a stationary gun with a bayonete?
The handle probably isn't sitting on its center of gravity either, so carrying it around would be a pain, too.
Not really, but worth a look:
Gun Sling Girl
Zipang (Sounds interesting?)
Toward the Terra
Grave of the Fire Flies
Ghost in the Shell SAC S1/S2
Legend of the Legendary Heroes (Swords)
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam
Aura Battler Dunbine
Gasaraki (Gets weird)
Tales of Prince Arslan (First OVA's)
Votoms (Sci fi)
Macross Zero (Watch for animation of robots, strange bird people in the end)
Jin Roh (Guns!)
Claymore (Gritty, but w/ monster girls with swords)
Now and Then Here and There
Infinite Ryvius (Lord of the Flies in Space)
Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Obligatory)
>spoon feeding etc.
There are two types of "real war" shows Japanese do - Gundams and Sengoku/Three Kingdoms dramas
Also, check FLAG
Sorry I can't hear you all the way from the first world.
Feeding from the top means you can fit larger magazines without them hitting the ground when you're using the bipod. It also makes magazine changes when you're firing from the hip using a sling.
Video isn't exactly scientific, and it's for the BREN, but closest I can find. ~3:48 has gunny complaining about the box mag.
Can Yuros do anything without thinking of cock?
>cute military girls doing tragic and depressing war things
Because THAT would sale at all. I'm sure people on /a/ would eat it up but Japan would probably be repulsed by something like that.
>muh HDI muthfucka
Talk about a broken record.
>bitch about having the lack of good and realistic war dramas
>want little girls in them
>bitch about having the lack of good and realistic war dramas
Autists cant relate to something unless there is something cute and colorful on the screen, see the MLP war pictures from deviant art for an example of this.
Hip-firing IS awful, but nobody knew that yet. Marching fire was THE role for the light machine gun, s'pecially after everyone saw how mobile those krauts were with their submachine guns.
I'm guessing side-mounted mags didn't happen because they'd make it harder for lefties to reload.
No doubt the nips had some shitty stuff, but the Brits did the same damn thing with the top-mounted magazine. If two sets of engineers stumbled across the same design independently, it more than likely had some apparent redeeming feature.
Top mounted mags make it easier for your buddy to change the mag for you so you don't have to change positions when firing. If you're stuck using a box fed weapon in the supporting fire role it's not a terrible design.
>Is it to much to ask for cute military girls doing tragic and depressing war things?
Strike Witch love is alive and well. Happy, fun, fanservice girls sell merchandise. Tragedies and depressing plots are already known to not sell merchandise.
Sora No Woto is as close as you are gonna get. You just need to face facts.
There is a serious lack of /k/ porn in anime. Usually I leave gritty realistic stuff to the west but they're just as fucking bad about it.
>every war movie
>MURRIKA FUKK YEAR SAVING THE WORLD
>Oh wait you wanted guns and a realistic portrayal of war? Too bad have some relationship drama and oscar bait emotional shit with some jingoism sprinkled in.
>Implying it has anything on the Charlton
i was just about to bring up flag. while it has the whole exoskeleton thing that is still more of a legitimate near-future science-fiction thing than mecha trope. one of the smartest and most engaging animes i have watched.
Fritz Joseph Bittenfeld
Master of warfare
>Strike Witch love is alive and well. Happy, fun, fanservice girls sell merchandise.
Did you know that the original Strike Witches universe, the one from the novels, is actually quite violent?
Witches die, the Neuroi are far worse and more dangerous, the military fights alongside witches when possible and die too.
The war is taken seriously and the fighting too, with actually well narrated dogfighting and striker units obeying physics and their IRL counterpart specs.
The novels have witches knocked out by explosion blasts and smashing into the ground while unconscious.
They have witches crash on landing because they fly on machines that fly nothing like what they were used to due to the switch from turn-n-burn to heavier boom-n-zoom fighters adapted to new doctrines.
They have no-name witches operate from shitty bases in obsolete equipment.
Stop watching the pile of shit that is the anime and go see the actual universe that Fumikane made before. It is good.
Fuck the 501st. Fuck the anime.
Pic related? If it were realistic all the character would be burly men and all the fights would be at 300m. The Americans haven't made many realistic war films, truth is, real war is boring.
That's what's funny about it, they spend millions getting everything to look as authentic as possible, then they throw realism right out the door. Applies to videogame shooters too.
>real war is boring
Far from it, if anything war has become a scripted process. Politics, money and other factors come into play when the grunts are thrown into the thick of it.
>truth is, real war is boring.
The WWII period was full of action on certain theaters.
Take a Finnish fighter pilot during the Winter War. He's in the air more often than not, he encounters enemies sometimes minutes after taking off, and he ends up shooting multiple aircraft on most sorties while flying some obsolete aircraft given by another country.
More like either everything is within 50 meters because you're going from door to door or it's standoff distances across a valley and you're shooting at something you can't see at least 700m away
>and all the fights would be at 300m.
This is what weapon designers like to think. That is not how it works. In any war where both sides have somewhat equal chances due to various factors.
See: any fighting the Russian forces got into in their former territories over the past 15 or so years.
Fighting was messy, point blank stuff with AKs while ineffective air support flew overhead and reinforcements were stuck in roadside ambushes on the way.
Not every war is about shooting multi-million dollar weapons at talibans in their mountains.
Doesn't matter. Nobody wants to get closer in case the enemy notices your approach halfway and you get caught with your pants down out of cover. It'll take way too long to assault a position properly that far away anyway, and the longer you take the more likely they'll notice.
Aren't most American war dramas still about WWII? The last glory war, the last one that turned out well and everybody can agree was justified? Yeah, Japan lost that one and was demilitarised soon after. I don't think they have much to work off of.
Can you read?
Go read reports on fighting in Chechnya.
Look at what soldiers have to say about "air support".
>Arty and airstrikes have claimed, by far, the most lives in wars in the past 100 years.
Yes, let us summary war to what happened in the last 100 years, because WWI's artillery pits and WWII's strategic bombing raids are perfectly valid concerns in modern war.
War isn't about obliterating a trench line or leveling cities with millions of bombs anymore.
That's where most of arty and airstrike kills in figures came from.
Try seeing what arty and airstrikes do in urban combat over assets that you actually want to capture and not destroy: it doesn't do much because neither can operate well without putting their own forces, or themselves at risk.
Russians in Grozny saw choppers passing above and thought "why aren't they helping".
And the pilots answered "we couldn't stay long enough to acquire targets, it was too dangerous".
i just want an infantry anime with gun porn,
sora no woto was boring as shit, nothing happening for 3/4 of the eps,
there's GuP, strike witches and kancolle, now i want something that ain't about school, flying legs or personified military vehicles
And you have only stated a few couple instances, most battles don't take place in city's and you're not always trying to protect shit. Most modern arty can always accurately hit within 10m of its intended target and guided bombs are becoming more accurate by the day so there's actually not much of a argument for saying ti endangers the lives of friendly troops, seeing as most airstrikes and artystrikes never fall closer than 100m to a friendly position.
>Which is why I mentioned the apparently growing population of gun and military enthusiasts in Japan. Do you even fucking read?
Fucking where? Retard. Also, it is still an insignificant minority.
>It seems that more Japanese have gotten into guns recently though as we've seen with things like High School of the Dead and Upotte. They are writing stories for people who enjoy accurate gun things.
Half of the OP.
>people on this board haven't watched LoGH
>Also, it is still an insignificant minority.
Yes yes. Not like the most popular game in all Japan right now is Kantai Collection aka a game made for ship-nuts.
This artist gives me the weirdest boner. Thanks OP
>I don't see a growing number.
as well as GuP, one of the most popular shows of the past few years.
Military-otaku may not grow more numerous but they are more present as a target audience now.
Hell this season again we have a show about airsoft.
I don't have the percentages, but I do know what can be dropped close enough to be considered safe an what can't, remember, an airstrike can be anything from an a10 firing a maverick at an enemy tank to a stratofortress leveling a town.
>Not slapping your meat to Ryona.
Define to me your superior tastes in meat slapping material.
Gundam is not that real, since there's usually an evil side and a good side.
And the whole premise of Flag is really stupid. They sent an elite unit to retrieve a fucking FLAG and then that unit (if I remember correctly) committed war crimes even though they knew that a journalist was watching them. Just wow.
Sure, so long as it has stuff like this:
>The VC delivered a similar warning to the residents of a hamlet not far from Danang. All were herded before the home of their chief. While they and the chief’s pregnant wife and four children were forced to look on, the chief’s tongue was cut out. Then his genital organs were sliced off and sewn inside his bloody mouth. As he died, the VC went to work on his wife, slashing open her womb. Then, the nine-year-old son: a bamboo lance was rammed through one ear and out the other. Two more of the chief’s children were murdered the same way. The VC did not harm the five-year-old daughter — not physically: they simply left her crying, holding her dead mother’s hand.
There is nothing better than burning people with napalm or gasoline, hell even the commies agree.
>Two VC battalions struck in the earliest hours, when the village was asleep. Quickly killing the sentries, the communists swarmed among the rows of tidy, thatch-roofed homes, putting the torch to them. The first knowledge that many of the villagers had of the attack was when VC troops turned flamethrowers on them in their beds. Some families awoke in time to escape into nearby jungle. Some men stood and fought, giving their wives and children time to crawl into trenches dug beneath their homes as protection against mortar and rifle fire. But when every building was ablaze, the communists took their flamethrowers to the mouth of each trench and poured in a long, searing hell of fire — and, for good measure, tossed grenades into many. Methodical and thorough, they stayed at it until daybreak, then left in the direction of the Cambodian border.
>Morning revealed a scene of unbelievable horror. The village now was only a smoldering, corpse-littered patch on the lush green countryside. The bodies of 252 people, mostly mothers and children, lay blistered, charred, burned to the bone. Survivors, many of them horribly burned, wandered aimlessly about or stayed close to the incinerated bodies of loved ones, crying. Some 500 were missing; scores were later found in the jungle, dead of burns and other wounds; many have not been found.
There's always 0080. Very heavily solidified in me the ideal that it's still just people on every side of every war.
I always heard good things about War in the Pocket. Do I need to watch the other Gundam shows in order to understand it? Because the only Gundam show I've seen so far is Wing, which wasn't very good.
I despise airshit and was going to pass on it, but /a/ convinced me to try it. It's actually pretty entertaining. Just friends fucking around and having fun pretend wars, none of that tourney arc "serious business" competitive bullshit that went down in C3-bu.
>Urobuchi will never do a "cute girls with guns" anime
He already did
They got to get rid of the little girls. I"m sorry, but wars aren't going to have cute girls doing cute things more than 1% of the time. You're not going to see a cute girl shooting a gun or complaining that a Nazi is looking at her "pantsu" or any of this nonsense. Does this mean that there can't be women in war? Of course not, but they're not going to be cute, magical girls that ruin any atmosphere that such a story would have.
The thing that makes little girls attractive (as in, likeable) to an audience in an anime is that they do cute things. They have a floating demeanor, they enjoy simpler things, they have "fun." If you want a realistic girl in a apocalyptic/war scenario then just play that Walking Dead game. Just accept it.
I'm not saying it's not cute, I'm just saying you can't take it seriously.
1% of the time, you'll see a family hiding from bomb shells and the daughter does something cute, but that's it.
>taking anime seriously
On the second note, if you are talking about frontlines, I doubt the cute-girl-percent isn't even close to one. If you are talking about homefront I the cute-girl-percent would be higher
I'M NOT THE ONE ASKING FOR IT, THE OP IS:
>Is it to much to ask for cute military girls doing tragic and depressing war things?
>gritty war drama
These things imply and require seriousness. And you don't get a serious nature with little girls making far noises out of their vaginas.
Good series needs large funds.
Large funds came from retarded NEETs throwing money at BD or figures.
retarded NEETS only throw money to shows with cute girls.
Therefore, an anime can be good only if it has cute girls.
If you want some depressing war anime without cute girls, you'll have to bear with QUALITY slideshows that may or may not happen.
>The magazine stands upright, blocking your view
That's for subarashii dualweilding, holding the gun by the magazine with it's trigger down for you to press with your pinky.
>the woodpiece would rot from sitting on the mud
Hah jokes on you it's already rotten.
>and what's the point of a stationary gun with a bayonete
That's obviously a defense mechanism
Try watching more anime. Specifically from the 90s and early 00's.
Do you guys even fucking read? It's okay if you want that, but it's NOT GOING TO BE SERIOUS. YOU CAN'T MAKE IT A GRITTY WAR DRAMA OR HAVE A DEPRESSING THEM! That's what's impossible. Not the act of smashing little girls into spooky events.
I never read Saikano, but it could only go down in three ways:
>it was sad as shit and the girl wasn't actually cute, but was only familiar as a cute archetype
>it was cute and it wasn't actually horribly depressing
>it was some mash 4077 shit where it'd be horribly depressing one moment and cutsie the other
It's like saying you want to watch something that makes you both happy and sad at the same time. A film can make you cry tears of joy one moment and tears of sadness the other, but not both at the same time.
They are mostly about edo/sengoku Japan.
Which is problematic because Meiji and Taisho period was when Japan was the most badass.
>first 30 minutes
>shows hundreds of young Americans dying slow and painful deaths
>boys and men crying for mercy
>blood and shit everywhere
>killing of surrendering Germans
>not in any way glorifying war, or promoting propaganda
Do you even know what propaganda means you idiot? go shit post on /pol
>A-10 because BRRRRRRTTT
seriously, it's God's angry cock shooting 30mm death at 3,900 rounds a minute. It goes through Warsaw Pact armor like tissue paper and turns people into soup.
Brought to you by the (br)asshats who thought infantry charges against embedded MG positions was a good idea.
>after everyone saw how mobile those krauts were with their submachine guns
The marching fire doctrine (set fire selectors to full retard) predates the introduction of the MP-18. The Tommy gun might've too if the establishment hadn't decided Thompson would be more useful NOT developing revolutionary new firearms systems when we got involved in WWI.
Being a sailor in LoGH is basically asking to be assigned to a flying metal death trap in space. I think in an average battle, millions of people die.
>one on one combat
My ass. Poplan and Konev never had anything less than 3 valks trying to gangbang them.
Maybe the scrubs like Julian and Katarina sure, but those two were so godly they were worth as much as an admiral's fleet.
The script basically had to reign them in by having one die off screen while the other was never allowed to just shoot the fucking enemy flag ship despite Julian of all people showing you how easy it is to use the empire's ships against them.
Iconic, yes. But "good" ? nope.
I'm a little late on this, but fuck it.
>Feed system: welfare
Cat shit one OVA(?) was pretty good excusing the fact they were all animals.
Real war mostly consists of logistics and other support these days. For one soldier engaging in combat you have hundreds of people working supplies, communications and what-not.
And that's the army.
Now consider the chairforce.
because they are either moe which doesn't work or have an MC that is like
>I have to rescue these random ass people even if I have no chance of winning and ignoring basic orders again
Latest example is Argevollen
In the 2D universe the population dynamics necessitate it.
They'll certainly have one or two obi-wan-style male soldiers to look up to. Until those die and left to fend on their own of course.
Mobile Suit Gundam was pretty good at showing what a real war is like. People die, horrible shit happens, and in the end it was all for nothing anyway. Char's counterattack is also good. Oh and fucking 08th MS Team, god damn.
Fuck I forgot about War in the Pocket.
I still think that was a flimsy excuse to have hand-to-hand combat
The FPA had like 110,000 ships before this campaign.
By the end they can barely muster up 25,000.
And there were like a thousand soldiers on each ship.
>implying you can't have cute girls and realistic war
Dumb shits watch how it's done.
Imagine the following setting:
The story takes place in some unnamed eastern european shithole post-WWII.
The country comes out of a civil war and is already at odds with its neighbors over border territories.
To compensate for lack of troops anyone who can carry a gun, is between 15 and 55yo and doesn't have an already important job (administration, working in a plant) is thrown into provisional units.
Our characters are a group of 15yo girls who were dropouts and sent to an "operational disposition" unit aka a border outpost guard.
They get drunk, have fun, become lesbians: this is the cute girls part.
Then there are times when the enemy attacks and violence happens and horror too sometimes.
Then afterwards they return to their usual drinking and doing nothing while waiting for the next attack, but some are dead. At the end of the series 1/3 are still alive and they go back home without really knowing what the war was about.
>Why don't the Japanese ever right good and realistic war dramas?
We're all waiting for the Kantai Collection (KanColle) anime to come out. Let's see a nice Pearl Harbor attack sequence! Then that can be followed up by a Japanese victory at Midway.
SnW had barely any war going on, it had retarded mechs and the girls were K-On!-dumb.
In my setting the girls act like you'd expect 1950s 15yo delinquents to act, meaning they are not good people.
But combine that with animu artstyle and their shitty situation and it becomes endearing.
Because the only thing better than cute girls is seeing cute girls turned into bitter vets.
full metal jacket, platoon, saving private ryan are the holy trifecta of war drama
I am also interested in a realistic anime war drama, I think it'd be fucking amazing if done correctly.
>you will never see an anime with a standard Shounen MC's fall from grace as a commander in a war scenario
>you'll never see his squad get decimated by the end of the first episode, forcing him to find new recruits
>you won't see him try his hardest to convince those of age, but will have no choice but to use children
>the shotas will never be on the front lines, the lolis as sex slaves
>MC will never have his squad expand into a full-fledged mercenary group, fighting wars in various countries
>MC will never have to sell some of the lolis over to certain corporations that produce and distribute CP in order for his merc business to stay afloat
>certain governments will never have him on their hit-list
>MC will never have to rely on African warlords and other mercenary groups in order to hide from his crimes
>he will never becpublically executed for his war crimes
>ANN and MAL will never praise it as "Like Call of Duty Mixed With Breaking Bad"
>I mean, it's nice, but for me, seeing cute girls everywhere is like eating nothing but bananas, every day until I like it.
The production committee will keep on stuffing our faces with cute girls because that is what the audience wants as proven by merchandise and license sales. If gritty dark depressing stories were better at earning money, then that is what we'd get.
Now, if you wanted a show with less merchandising influence in the plot, you'd probably have to look for it to be aired on NHK which is taxpayer funded. The privatized TV stations get a cut of merchandising profits in their contracts, so they as members of the production committee will push for screenplays that make the most money.
Ground into bits is boring, they don't get to cry before they die.
>recent constitutional change
>its not like he was a top-tier VA in the first place.
What's it like not to have a childhood?
I've only played MGS3 and 4.
Great games, but the voice acting really didn't leave an impression on me.
>I've only played MGS3 and 4.
Good job ruining a great series for yourself.
I am sad for you. Even if you play MGS1 and 2 now the plot reveals in 4 will have fucked up everything.
Never mind not getting 90% of what is said in 4. Or the implications of what is shown in 3.
Fuck, how can anyone be this retarded? That's like watching the original Star Wars trilogy backwards, starting from the rebel victory and Vader reveal and going to Tatooine.
dang, should have emulated, I doubt MGS4 can be enjoyed, plot wise by anyone but the fans.
Anyway not him but related, currently marathoning the 24 series (dubbed thought) and I guess Kiefer might handle it, GZ is hard to judge as he nearly never spoke.
So you're telling me you played through MGS4 Shadow Moses without going through it in MGS1? You just missed one of the greatest nostalgia moments in the history of video games. I actually had a tear rolling down when the MGS1 codec conversations and the music played as I approached the helipads.
>Older anime/manga had a lot of realistic war dramas but since the only army Japan has is a self-defense force not so much
>but since the only army Japan has is a self-defense force not so much
Anime didn't exist until after WWII you dumb shit.
Reread the statement made:
>Older anime/manga had a lot of realistic war dramas but since the only army Japan has is a self-defense force not so much
No anime was ever made before Japan got stuck with the Self Defense Force. That statement is retarded.
You can only blame yourselves for getting involved with that Austrian shitcunt.
Still waiting for my girls und das boot anime. You know this would be the best thing ever.
>it's only a war crime if you lose, faggot
How eloquent. In what part of the Geneva convention does it say that? Whether people are punished for them or not, war crimes are war crimes.
>"for the winner it's just basic necessity in order to avoid even more casualties."
>completely destroying one of the largest cities of a country and all of its civilians in the most murderous air raid of all time
The Allies could have targeted the strategic targets like the ball-bearing factories, but apparently killing absolutely everyone was a better choice.
>the US Air Force killed far more French civilians than the Germans ever did
My French grandmother saw her friends die to American bombs in St Nazaire. She lived because Germans actually saved civilians by taking them inside shelters.
You know the worst? Americans massacred St-Nazaire AND NEVER DAMAGED THE U-BOOT BASE
THEY ACTUALLY STARTED RAZING THE CITY ITSELF AND ITS PEOPLE WHEN THEY REALIZED THEY COULDN'T DO SHIT TO THE U-BOOT PENS
And the fucking murderers who ordered this were never trialed.
Because killing thousands of civilians in an Allied country out of spite that you can't achieve your original objective is perfectly honorable.
God bless America.
Hate runs deep and lurks below for centuries to come, as conflicts like the hundreds of years long Alsace-Lothringia one shows. It surfaces every now and then, when people like you give the warmongerers amongst each nation an excuse to break loose the hounds of war.
The nationalist German parties like the NPD are already using the Allied bombings as an excuse to facilitate anti-American hate. Should they ever come to power again, your disregard, your unwillingness to face history will lead to needless victims - and even if THEY don't, somebody else might, for the issue won't be resolved by ignoring it.
The Americans have gotten away with it for seven decades, but what are seven decades in the face of history? There'll be lots of opportunities to instrumentalize this war crime.
An apology is absolutely necessary to prevent the seed of hate from blooming.
To be fair, it's not quite that simple. Back in those days the best way to destroy large targets (factories etc) from the air was to carpet bomb fucking everything around them because bombing was so inaccurate.
this, so much this
Imagine a cute DFC version of Ray and a Yandere Trombley
I liked the show a lot but they needed to go all the way with it.
Actually, I'd love to see Yura join the French Foreign Legion or something so we can see some real war drama.
The Allies specifically aimed at destroying all of Dresden.
They wiped out the city center which was full of civilians and the outskirts with the factories were actually less damaged.
They firebombed a civilian city when it is known that anything weaker than 100kg HE bombs has no chance of damaging heavy machinery factories.
Dresden was destroyed as a morale-breaking action.
War is war.
Horrible things are going to be done by everyone involved. It's something you just have to accept.
The only thing you can do is try to see past the propaganda and other assorted bullshit and see things for what they are rather than GREAT HEROES FIGHTING SATAN.
Cute girls doing combined arms war games when?
>CO-chan, firescout 1 reports BDA for contact ship 4328 is very dead!
>nice jobbu weapons officer-san, ice cream for everyone after this
>wah, 20 new contacts designated 5123 to 5143 bearing 213 range 11000, low, closing on us at 550, doushio~?
>intercept! turn on automated mode
>it's too late, it can't illuminate them all quick enough
>uwa, this sucks, if only I got into the chair force instead
I laughed louder than I should have.
>almost reply with disdain
>they actually ARE Famas
Make an anime about two sides of the war. One features a male Japanese Kamikaze pilot. Another one features a female Soviet sniper. You have your obligatory generic Japanese MC to fill quota and a cute girl as FeMC.
FPA FPA FPA FPA FPA FPA FPA
OI! noice post matey!
Yeah, there are gun nuts in Japan, but as far as I know, they are seen as freaks, in muhrica they could be labeled as gun aficionados.
Even so, there are many works with the thesis of the hopelessness and sense of loss that sustained conflict inflicts on the characters
On the action heavy side, the animation based on cat shit one.
for a girly club anime, it provided details on the guns.
Jormungand, Koko is one of the major Gunnuts in anime (well, it has everything to do with her line of work)
I liked a lot the episode in which Koko's squad confronts a Seal team
Patlabor 2.... I still watch it from time to time.
That's not anything like my animus
>Dresden was destroyed as a morale-breaking action.
Thats only half right.
they fire bombed the civilians because it was easier to drive them out and kill them then it is to destroy factories, and they cant churn out guns and ammo if they arent manned.
mfw there will never be a Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan type anime with cute girls.
>Japan is in a total war with China/aliens/whatever
>Several years of fighting and high casualties
>Morale is at an all-time low
>Government sends a high-school idol group to the frontlines to boost morale
>Gives them basic training just in case the worst happens
>The worst happens and they have to fight
>A couple of the girls and one of the girl's soldier love interests die
Award-winning anime right here.
It's edgy to acknowledge war as something bad?
Well okay then.
Some proofreaders to get feedback, and people to bounce ideas off of.
I've done a lot of writing similar to this, and what always happens is one of my co-authors flakes out and I'm left with a framework of a story, but the details left undone.
Artists are always nice too. Lets you actually see your work and see if you're doing things right with your descriptive writing.
You're never going to get anywhere in writing. Not because of a lack of staff, but because you hide behind excuses. You lack the talent to stand on your own feet. I hope you spend the rest of your life thinking "if only I had this" or "I could do that" only to realize on your deathbed that you wasted your life daydreaming.
>Syria pls stawp war bombs bad
>Sudan p-pls stop killing your civilians pls
>Ukraine pls no more manpads
>Iraq pls no sectarian conflict
>Israel pls stawp palestine slaughter is not best day of your life
And that's just the "big" things right now.
>Black Water girls station on top of a roof
>Spotter asks what Sniper had for lunch today
>Sniper looks away from scope, shows MRE to Spotter
>Spotter raises head to read MRE label better
>Lifeless corpse falls off ledge and plummets 3 stories.
>Perfectly acceptable course of action when the goal is to break enemy's morale
The Middle Ages called. They want their executioners back to spike up some heads of women and children to break someone's morale.
>They said that if they used their laser guns the the particles around them would ignite everything and kill them
Why don't they fucking use powder-less guns or arrow based weapons then?
You know, chinese were already using repeater crossbows a long-ass time ago.
Take a modern auto-crossbow, make it fire high velocity bolts with composite-rigid heads. Bam.
No, bullets do not make conveniently placed and helpfully coloured red barrels full of fuel explode when shot at, especially not from "sparks" because "metal grinding against metal". It's like nobody has ever heard of air guns or tried shooting the enemy in the head with a bolt or tried to make a frictionless coilgun.
Not him, but.
Literally 70% of the shit that does on in 4 is a callback to the earlier game. The whole Return to Shadow Moses scene would be worthless if you don't remember anything.
Same goes for Screaming Mantis fight, and Akiba; the nods to series fans mean nothing and probablt looked out of place if you hadn't played Solid 1.
