New thread. How many people are actually using the FTP?
>>
>>109970704

>>
I haven't bothered, seems like nothing that you can't get anywhere else has been uploaded.
>>
I've been out of the loop for a few weeks maybe. What happened to the archival efforts and the new site plans and all that?
>>
What ftp?
>>
>>109970704
I am, i was uploading rotte no omocha, going to continue tomorrow, its already 4am.
>>
>>109970942
Still on-going in the backgrounds. This FTP thing is pretty much a separate thing.
>>
To appease our great lord Daiz and the work he's stealing credit for, author name for oneshots, etc goes in the "extra information" part, right?
>>
>>109971231
What is this FTP thing?
>>
>>109971257

Check the archive.
>>
>>109971327

Shitposting and being mentally challenged will get you nowhere.
>>
>>109971284
>>109971327
This isn't me by the way.
>>
>>109971257
it's diaz waiting for /a/ to do all the work.
>>
>>109970704
I'm still uploading berserk volumes 1-35, should be about 40% done
>>
>>109971257
A collective effort to archive manga, manga.madokami.com
still a bit empty but the idea is a centralized location to find scans for old and new manga
>>
>>109970704
Sometimes when I want to transfer large files from my tablet, I use ES explorer for this.
>>
>Daiz naming scheme says nothing about author

Thanks Daiz. Guess it goes in "Extra Information".
>>
>>109971257
File transfer protocol
Could be a way to deliver manga.
>>
>>109972007
OP isn't taking about the FTP protocol in general
>>
I miss mangatrader's metadata All those ratings, comments and relations have disappeared forever.
>>
>>109971985
Shit, I've got like 30 gigs of mangatraders saved how to help.
>>
>>109972123
Manga-Updates has better metadata anyway.
>>
>>109972051
Including the author's name in the filename makes sense for porn but not for general manga. If it's really important then yes, extra information is the correct place for it.
>>
>>109971985
>>109972056
Thanks.
I'll figure out the rest myself somehow. I'm tech retarded, but I have a few files laying around.
>>
>>109972132
ftp.madokami.com
download filezilla and set that as the path

If you've got mangatraders stuff, You should rename them to at least get rid of the numbers.

There was a program to do that but I haven't got the link right now
>>
>>109972153

Why doesn't it make sense? What if I want to search all manga/oneshots that have [author]? What about said random oneshots?
>>
>>109972119
I see, so we're looking for a way to host manga?
This could be great for old or completed manta.
But ongoing manga my cause issues.
Still great idea, keep up the good work.
>>
>>109972153
Some Manga with the same name could become a problem than, but in my opinion, they should be left in the Title so we don't fuck up the folder directory

At the moment, I'm trying to figure out what series are on Batoto that aren't in the MangaTraders archive.

It's a bit annoying because of the large amount of Manga-Updates data (which I'm using as a sort of 'reference').

On a side note, I wish there was an archive for this board that wasn't Foolz, which I refuse to use except when I absolutely have to. I really miss easymodo, foolz is constantly slow and laggy and it took me ages to find a post I made a couple days ago.

Is there a way to upload a link?
Like uploading a link that redirects you to mangaupdates page of the manta you're viewing?
This way we solve the meets metadata issue and give mangaupdates more traffic.
>>
>>109972735
Sure, yes, or we could just periodically scrape Manga-Updates.

So am I forced now to use online reader? Because I want to read Akame ga Kill but there isn't a site that has more than 10 chapters of it. It's like every 10 chapters someone stops translating it and someone else picks it up. And all of scanlators have annoying wordpress sites with 2 posts per page.
>>
>>109972735
It's "manga"
>>
>>109972973

If only there were some way to rip manga from Batoto, which has all of Akame.

Such an ingenious method could never exist, though.

Probably not going to touch it, but if someone closer to the region wants to scan it, that'd be cool. Or if you're poor/patient enough, you could get a copy from the library and transcribe it.
>>

I've collected lots of scattered things wandering around blogs and such. Lots of older series. Actually found some Takao Saito manga recently that was on Jmanga. Apparently it was on nyaa for a year and no one seemed to know. No seeds, but I managed to scrape an out of sorts online reader.

What difference does it make whether you use AB or Nyaa? AB seems likely to have less seeds because invite-only.

Japan Sinks which just got published on CR anyways. And Devil King. I also ripped all the others from CR, and HorribleScans is nowhere in sight. The DDL for Hotel Detective should be in the archive somewhere.
>>
>>109975064
>AB seems likely to have less seeds
Nothing has less seeds that Nyaa.

>invite-only
Not true.
>>
>>109975142

It might as well be. Applications are often ignored or put on the back burner for months at a time.
>>
>>109975137
Japan Sinks actually has seeds though. Devil King was the problem. And three volumes of Sofuteni.
>>
>>109975137

No wonder, none of those have the author in the title. I don't recall Nyaa having a "search description" feature.
>>
>>109975214
It's really no wonder why seeds die on nyaa. Especially for manga.
>>
>>109975179
>It might as well be. Applications are often ignored or put on the back burner for months at a time.
I got mine resolved in less than a day. Maybe that changed, but it still doesn't change that Nyaa is worthless when older releases are concerned.
>>
This looks like someone missed their chance on MT backup, and want /a/ to do it for them.
>>
>>109975259
>>109975293

I like AB's layout better anyway.

I guess someone should grind their way into Legend and start inviting people to seed MT archives, in case Woxxy's site ends up as vaporware.
>>
>>109975323
Would AB be willing to accept the entire MT archive?
>>
>>109975354

If you mean as one giant batch torrent, then they've already said no. They would have to be respective individual torrents. They host licensed shit, right? That's a plus. Finding those old Viz scans is a hassle sometimes.
>>
>>109975354
There was a thread in their forums about it. Seemed unlikely. But they were at least willing to consider it.
>>
>>109975259

>[paku] Devil King

Stuff like this is bullshit. Who the hell thinks "Devil King" as the sole title for a torrent is acceptable?
>>
>>109975354
It's just a tracker, why not? It's not like you even have to put it on single tracker.

As long as you have a seed box to keep it alive and make it organized enough, torrents would be best place to keep the archive.

>>109975386
>individual torrents
That's a sure way how to kill a torrent. You don't have to download it all and you don't have to run thousands of torrents to keep them seeded.
>>

>>
>>109976888

It won't be on Batoto, is the point.
>>
>uploading to AB

The fact that people have to ask for invites in this thread is proof enough as to why that might be a bad idea.

Just post on Nyaa with a proper title and seed. Lower barrier of entry, and it'll only go unseeded as long as you stop seeding it. Not like AB doesn't have dead torrents.
>>
>>109976976
No, I'm talking about diffirent thing.Torrents there have manga chapters/volumes unzipped instead of just single .zip file for chapter/volume. Sometimes they have a mix. Yotsuba, for example, have scanlation zipped and ADV Manga's scans as a folder with 900+ images. How the fuck I am supposed to seed this shit.
>>
>>109977156
>stop seeding it
Which always happens. Eventually, for whatever reason, people stop seeding it.

>>
>>109977245
A one-shot is a manga, no?
>>
>>109977197
You can have both. I don't know why AB does it but yeah, you can upload an archived copy and an unarchived copy for a single series. So then there are faggots who basically earn uploads simply by uploading an unarchived version that was from the originally archived upload.

Yeah, even on AB manga scanlation is a mess.

Do you really want multitudes of files that have no relation to content with half-guessed numbering and no proper packaging, just to make it sort?

Hell, if you cared, you could probably run all the files through pngcrush or something and save some decent number of GBs. And organize the archive at the same time for the benefit of everybody.
>>

I suppose it's pretty easy although ultimately I don't see the point, because you won't be able to say whether it's a magazine scan or a volume scan (because of MT's chapter repacks), which you have to specify in Daiz's naming scheme, and we would be forced to guess, which is a bad idea. You'd have to get the scanlator name from the original filename as well, and also deal with stuff like omakes and specials being mentioned.

If you do that, you'll break the ordering of series.

It doesn't matter, the scheme should be redone anyway. Start with scheme for organization of releases, then for pages and after that start thinking about whole series. You'll then notice that this scheme is unnecessary long for completed series, which you even pointed as a problem.

Many short stories of the magazine.

That's bad idea anon, maybe include HTML file for the other stuff.

>Unless you want to have all the chapters from all the manga you own in one folder.
It's a scheme that's supposed to work no matter what. It could at least do that properly, don't you think?
>>
What is the purpose of this FTP?
If we are uploading to be used later then shouldn't it be more organized then just freely uploading stuff how people want.
>>
>>109988879
You could help organize as well
>>
>>109988727
Why would you care about scenario which could only be applicable to someone with a dozen downloaded series? Such person is extremely unlikely to have two manga with the same name.
If you have few hundred of downloaded manga it's tens of thousands of chapters. No way in hell anyone sane keeps that in one folder. You're free to be unsatisfied that common sense is my last argument.
>>
>>109986800
uploaded v02
>>
>>109988996
I just disagree in uploading the Ito stuff under the single author, and reducing clutter in terms of lots of files shouldn't be the priority, but putting the same stuff in the same place - series in their own folders with no author folder
>>
>>109989162
It's easier for navigation.
>>
>>109988879
Once it's uploaded, we can organize however we want.
Also we can also together some web site with links to the actual content.
One quotation though is this safe from DMCA?
>>
>>109987797

TJIHCC is already on the FTP, it seems.
>>
>>109989036
I keep my backups in multiple archives separated by series. Not including author name in front makes it pain in the ass to work with.

As for a common sense, go visit a library, maybe you'll notice how were books organized for quite a few millennia.
>>
This little FTP isn't some MT replacement, it's just a circlejerk for sharing manga quickly until the replacement arrives, if ever.
>>
>>109989368
We're archiving manga not books.
But I see your point, when looking up a manga by certain author, that's why we need metadata

>>

Katakana only takes a day also. You're just stupid.
>>
>>109989531

It's not rude, it's an explanation for the people who seem to think this is suddenly a replacement for MT when it's just a few anons uploading their manga collection.

So that people don't keep popping in to ask, "so where's the eff-tee-pee mangatrader replacement i heard about from reddit :( i need my manga"
>>
>>109987942
Good, fuck off
>>
>>109989513
Is it going to be archive or DLL site? Because if it will have mostly completed series, it might be worth to create db file with all metadata, instead of trying to fit that into a filename like retards.
>>
I can see people putting all the Junji Ito stuff into one folder but on the other hand I'm pretty sure most would prefer to keep Urasawa's titles separate.
If we have to choose, I think titles should take priority over authors. Ideally we should have folders for all the mangaka (perhaps in "Authors" folder) AND folders for each series. Including Uzumaki, Gyo and so on.
>>
>>109989602

>>
>>109989895
Your average page of Japanese text has a lot of Hiragana, still a lot of kanji and maybe three words of Katakana, at most. Even more annoying when you just learn vocabulary, more than enough Hiragana practice, every new word has some Hiragana, but only every 50 words at most you’ll see Katakana, and even then it isn’t really practice since the words themselves are so fucking easy, you just have to decipher the Kana.

Yes, I’m lazy, but the “I learned 500 Kanji in a few months” type lazy. (Granted, I do know some Chinese, that makes it easier, still)

Also
>Yes, it’s embarrassing if you’re fluent in a language but can’t write it by hand. This is an issue even for Japanese people.

No, because circle/author is more important than title in case of doujins. Arguably Comiket number too. No one remembers all the titles of 1000 doujins they fapped to. They remember the artstyle/story type though (circle) or series/when they found it (here the comiket number might help)

Altered naming scheme, sure.

Shounen anime like naruto, bleach, one peice are for teenage boys.
