Guys, I'm conflicted here. One hand hand I think Subaru is a stupid ass mongoloid for choosing the bland unlikeable elf gal instead of the smitten, pure and devoted Rem girl.
But on the other hand I hate Subaru's gut and think he's a shitty character who doesn't deserve Rem at all.
What the hell is wrong with me?
Well sucks for you anon because they're a couple now and there is nothing you can do about it.
He was a shut-in and Emilia was his first love and he usually just says he loves her because of her looks. It's no different from our first loves, in particular if you don't know any other girls. When Rem comes in, I'm guessing he's just committing to his illusion with Emilia.
She's different because her enormous popularity doesn't follow the cookie cutter standards that you're placing on her. Try again.
There are a number of glaring parallels:
>both feature nerdy/dense MCs, who are about to enter a world alien to them
>both depict a dangerous, yet exciting setting that pulls the viewer in
>both feature magic and the supernatural
>both have crazy, power hungry villains after the MC's life
>both feature highly desired artifacts that can grant wishes
>both have huge fandoms that churn out an infinite supply of fanfiction and analysis
>both feature main girls with long brown hair who are extremely talented and knowledgeable about magic
Whilst they are both childish wish fulfilment, at least Fate/ is not the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
These are copypasta'd from somewhere I'm sure, but in any case, the idea of a porn VN being Japan's kid's lit classic is not as far-fetched as it should be.
Name ONE anime or manga funnier than this.
Protip: You actually can't.
OK, basically Dorkbot tried to open a hatch with no military grade prosthetics and with the strength limiter on, and people still claim she is not a dorkbot?
Are you attracted to Tomoko?
What's /a/ opinion on Mai Hime
What makes for a good MC?
It is absolutely critical that they have NO discerning features. Both the personality and the physical appearance should be the weighted average of the population that's the target audience.
Having any likes/dislikes that deviates from this statistical mean is a no-go, any opinions can alienate potential viewers/readers.
If you want to add flavor to it (I don't know why), you are allowed to make references to other popular media that has a proven track record of reaching a wide audience.
When in doubt, just remember, interesting things should be happening AROUND the MC, and never IN the MC.
was this good?
Do you love Tama?
She's a shit.

Tomino Yoshiyuki watched In This Corner of the World while standing for 2 hours. Yet he did not feel the pain as a testament to how good the film was. He was envious that he had not made the film himself.
