Giving Brotherhood a shot. The praise I always hear is "it adheres to the original manga" which really doesn't amount to anything.
All in all so far hear are my thoughts:
-Given the subject matter of what is happening in the story at any given point. The drama is usually ruined by badly timed comic relief or characters not responding realistically to the circumstances.
-The music aften never matches the tone of big scenes.
-Fight choreography is..so so..
All in all I would say the original series was actually better.

The first 13 episodes are truncated due to being in the 2003 series, so they don't feel as serious as they should and are rather rushed.
That said, it gets better once the characters from Xing are introduced, though I'm still disappointed it cuts scenes from the manga like Mei's introduction.

I sincerely fucking hope he recognizes how much of a mistake he's made and adds something to Armin's character now that his dream's are done and over with and his "purity" has no reason to be hamfisted in anymore. If they split over the timeskip and Eren's alone on the mainland because of it, I'd be pleased a fucking punch. I really hope that's the case.

I wish the whole show was like the first half of the series, i.e episodic and more about the interactions between the girls. I thought the whole Croix arc was kind of bullshit and she was a pretty forgettable antagonist with strange motives.
