Anyone here uses SP for handpainted single diffuse textures? I find the procedurals help save a lot of time compared to doing it all by hand in 3Dcoat like I used to.
Substance general I guess. I'll be dumping some stuff I made over the weekend for a game jam
programmer shitter fucked up big time and we didn't make the deadline
I actually made a few smart materials for the outlines and cross-hatching. I'll upload them if anyones interested
>>575307
also if anyone's got any tips for reducing the jaggies I got on some of these I'd appreciate it
They're all using one diffuse map per prop, 2K resolution

This one is my favorite

It was actually inspired by the Black Velvet World from psychonauts, b-but I guess it does look like borderlands
I really like it. How exactly do you do this, anon?
>>575323
All layers are solid black with procedural masks
Outline: one mask editor/creator generator (don't remember which one, whichever has the curvature input) set to sharp (everything else turned off).
Cross-hatching: fill layer with procedural stripes, curvature mask generator with medium/soft inputs (play around with the sliders until you like it) with global invert on and on subtract blending mode
Cross-hatching AO: same as above but instead of curvature you use the AO input, tweak the sliders to your liking, also increase the UV tiling on the stripes for a nicer look. This will make recessed areas have more hatching than the rest.
Add some random noise fill layers on subtract mode to break it up a bit and you're done.
I'll upload the smart material for later

thanks. I don't rock with SP yet but I wanted to learn it in the future, so I might try this one day
>>575328
honestly you can probably learn it in an afternoon, it's a very simple program, specially if you're used to photoshop.

This is really nice man. I could recreate that so I'll pass on the Substance, but I really do like the style. Nice to see people using Substance for something other than grimy pipes.
>>575347
shit like the Light generator and lighting baker are great for people who work with diffuse only, I also dunno why people don't use it more for cartoony stuff either.
>>575311
This looks really awesome anon

Your opinion is wrong
